I have updated the original thread with the final pictures.

I usually don't comment on modulars, but you have some real excellent brick usage here. There are no parts without fresh details, a real gem. My favorites are the kitchen and the sign. If Lego were not that cheapskate with part counts, it would make an excellent official set :)

The hotel is nice, but.. can we have some more pictures of the car? :)
-
The B&W film noir office is the best easter egg I've seen in MOCs so far :) My second favorite part is the raised base that makes it even more unique. Congrats!

Excellent MOC! If I had a great aparment house like yours, I's put little different things on the balconies, a bicycle, a sunscreen, flowers, a grill, kid's toys, clothes put to dry etc. to make it more lively. (Sorry if you weren't asking for comments :)) Great structure anyway!

Thank you for the nice review! That's the problem with e-bay purchases, you don't have the proper condition like in BL. The good thing is, you can always replace the missing/inproper parts quite easily with your next BL order. Can't wait for more reviews from you, I hope we'll get some in the near future :)

This is some old-school real creativity in work, congratulations! :)

Very fine details there, nice moc, Maks! I absolutely like it. I have two questions, 1) how did you attach the headlight to the black minifg hand, 2) why did the driver got a two plate extra height? :)

I guess mrblue was referring to the italian BL stores: http://www.bricklink.com/browseStores.asp?countryID=IT&groupState=Y If you want to browse, it's a good to start with stores with big stock (the number of bricks listed in each shop is next to it's name), like this one is quite big: Mattoncini-Mania - 613,258 If you have special needs, it's a good idea to build your own "wish list" in BL: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedAdd.asp then you can search stores that has most of the parts you need. (BL will even filter the wanted bricks for you.) Important to know that there are softwares that you can manage this wish list, even ones that can import bricks from your digitally designed models.

These are really inspiring ideas indeed! Placing them in your town is a very nice touch. Unfortunately I can't tell you my own ones, as I don't have an exact town, just some classic townhouses scattered around my desk/shelves. (But my 4yo DO have inspiring ideas that makes you flexible in building, like: (when the robot/house/whatever is almost ready) oh, and make it so it can turn into a (dog/robot/jet etc.) or and make it's arm so it can fold backwards too :), sorry I got a bit carried away.) These kind of easter eggs you listed make the difference between a "nice" lego town and a jaw-dropping "awesome" town. I'm a conformist! (is this what you say? :) do your things with your bricks
-
What do you get without some suburban townhouses? Kowloon :) Joke aside, I can totally understand if someone wants to build a crowded downtown-like city with modular style buildings. (Your point with the classic townhouses being the past of the lego city is totally valid, I'm thinking of a modern town with an old city area built with classic style, it could convince me to let modern houses into my classic town :) Hm...)

Very impressive, I love the details here, esp the comic :) One question, how do that heavy load gets off the trailer?
-
Very well done, an excellent reading :) ! Since I'm working on rebuilding most of these sets, I'm a bit prejudiced here. I see three points that could be improved (since you were asking for suggestions): - maybe it would worth mentioning that these houses that you call classic houses are all missing their backsides for improved playability. (This feature alone makes a huge difference compared to the sets mentioned on the 3rd page and makes the more like the town sets like the firefighters' or the police) - if you could dig up more CC or free images, that would be awesome (or even some samples from their building instructions from PICSL) - if you were quoting BL prices, it would be an interesting addition to display parted out values. I hope it didn't sound too geeky :) keep up the nice work!

Stupid forum engine included the ) in the link. It's nothing big, just a bench from some Lego creator tutorial series: it only differs from yours in it's back-rest. (It seems more comfy :))
-
Nice town, indeed! If I were you, I'd made a wrought iron fence around the park in the center and add some benches (something along the lines of ), more vegetation and some street musician and/or some folks with a picnic blanket and basket. If you are not too keen on fences, you could work with the gray/green intersection with some random placed green plates to look it more natural.Anyway, it's a very nice town :)

With everybody going modular nowdays, it's a really refreshing and pleasant MOC! :) Nice exterior details with a hint of classic flavored windows. Great!

LDD MOC: Even BIGGER 5 star intercity coach + gimmicks
Zeon replied to Out of Sight's topic in LEGO Town
If you want your daughter to be able to play it without frustration, I suggest you to replace a layer of 1x X plates to tiles, so the top floor become detachable, similar to the modular houses/city corner bus: -
Awesome MOC! I love the details on the truck, you even took the time to pose the driver for the show :) The harvester is a nice touch too.
-
just my tought, you can change the trolley's end to a 1x1x1 corner panel: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6231

Hello! A real good start :) You could fill your supermarket with whatever you see around in the real one: groceries, fish in a tank or on ice, bottles of drink (may i suggest to use some of those cups turned upside down on a round 1x1 brick as a bottle) a separate corner for the bakery, an isle for the salads, children's corner etc :)

This is a great MOC, I like it :) However, since you were asking for comments: If i were you, I'd build the white bricks randomly scattered INTO the wave, and I'd attach a smaller wave to the left to give the wave a more jagged/folding feel. However, It's great this way too, it has some stilized (lego) feel to it.
-
Great looking model! It's like an enlightening SNOT tutorial for me :) I wonder how robust this construction is? EDIT: And I love the old school truck with matching wheels!
-
I go mostly with (stylized) classic building, however I do adminre today's detailed (modular) cities. (For me it's about having good memories with the classic sets, needing less skill {not less creativity} and much less bricks) Guess it's like comparing with pop-art comic book with photography, it's the matter of preference.

Thank you! Thank you. I have built a prototype (brickwise) and it held qute well with 1x? bricks. I have designed a few layers of 1x6 plates to give some framing. The 2 wide bricks could be built into the back wall, since that one does not have a window at all. The doormat is a good idea. I tried a green 1x4 plate to stop the door but that turned out ugly. I've raised the flower box and made it into window still.
