  1. Hey everyone, thank you so much for all the comments. Thanks Prateek! Well, this is actually a pretty old MOC (December of 2008, after seeing the real thing), but I did want to have some things to post to get me going, since I'm new here. bricked one, Batman does indeed fit inside (there's room for three other passengers too, because of the way-off scale!) Here are more pictures that I took. I apologise that these are huge!
  2. Hey, thank you everyone. And Legostein the mini master! I remember you from FBTB forums back in the day, thanks for your comment! simonjedi, I shudder at the thought. Hmm, I don't think I will be - I have sinced returned this diorama to its normal, non-battle-scene form. StoutFiles, there were stormtroopers on Hoth, I think. I used one mainly because at the time I built this, I only had one Snowtrooper (From 4504 Millennium Falcon). Once again, really appreciate all the comments!
  3. Well, I guess Luke must've needed to find some way to have fun while stuck on the barren wasteland that is Tatooine. Yay! I'm so honoured you like "it's a tarp". I may have a few more Ackbar puns up my sleeve... Peanuts, The insurance gag is a good idea - but how about having Vader surrounded by medical droids instead? Lockon Stratos, I appreciate it! Actually, the "Singin' in the Rain" one came about just wondering what would happen if lightsabers could serve double duty as umbrellas. The Glee connection wasn't intentional. I thought I'd get it on the "mock the ugly Clone Wars figure faces" act.
  4. ^^ I'd say you're all kitted up and ready to go, Tobbe! Living my lifelong dream of visiting Legoland, in December '08.
  5. Hey everyone! At one of the forums I'm a member of, there's a fanart/art section and people make threads called "art bins", where they can post whatever art they've done and new art they've been working on, and other members will (hopefully) comment on it. Drawing is one of my many hobbies. I don't think I was born with the "gift" of drawing, so drawing something isn't easy for me, but it's something I enjoy. I do a lot of fan art, of comic book characters such as Batman, Catwoman, Superman and other DC Comics characters, from movies such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars and the James Bond films, and of the Tomb Raider video games. I drew using coloured pencil on paper for a really long time, but am experimenting with digital drawings using a pen and tablet (Wacom Bamboo Fun). I draw mainly characters and portraits - I'm rubbish at backgrounds, vehicles, and pretty much everything else. I don't want to become a comic book artist, because I can't draws angles and perspectives to save my life. Here's some of my work: Kim Possible Mathilda from Leon: The Professional (Natalie Portman) Zatanna My DeviantArt page Thank you for looking!
  6. Hmm, calling it a "talent" is a bit of stretch, but I love playing the violin for fun. I stopped taking formal lessons ten years ago (stopped at ABRSM Grade 5, Disntinction!) but made up my mind never to lose my touch, and to keep playing whatever music I like. It tends to be music from movies and musicals - Disney songs pop up pretty often. Here are some links to some of my violin videos on YouTube. The earlier ones have horrible sound quality because I was using my camera to record it; the current ones are recorded with a proper microphone. Would really love to hear any comments!
  7. Thanks so much Miss Kyle! This is one of the best comments I've ever received. Whee! Hey The Penguin, thank you too! Really appreciate it. Hahahha, "Jedd the Jedi" is a screen name I've stuck with forever. I'm now more of a Batman fan than a Star Wars one, but the main line I collect and build is Star Wars. The Batman minifig that I use as my avatar probably makes things more confusing than they should be.
  8. Hey Spyflops, I'm new too! Nice one there, I guess he wasn't really a rancor. He was only...trolling. This thread needs more stickers hate. Sorry about the blurry picture.
  9. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *facepalm* That. Is. Fantastic.
  10. Oky-Wan, those are great! The Y-Wing one is hilarious, and I really like the poor battle droid driver's pose, staring helplessly into the...whatever that was supposed to be. Certainly not a cockpit, right? Legonater, thank you thank you. Sorry I missed your comment the first time! Hey Praiter, thanks for your encouragement, and for not minding that I went ahead with the Raiders duel joke anyway! I'm sorry though - I don't think I understand your latest one. And here are two more. I don't care what anyone says, those jokes never ever ever get old. I can't resist those crossover jokes! Someone help me please.
  11. Hey, I really like all these Batman set reviews that you're doing, Penguin - big wave of nostalgia here. Well, this was at a point where licensed sets were starting to become really expensive, and this small set didn't look very worth the money to me. I already had a Catwoman minifig from the magnet set, and I bought the instruction booklet loose. But I eventually caved in and bought it. I liked it, it was cute, but it did indeed feel like they could've done a better small vehicle for Batman rather than the awkward dragster we had here. I share your sentiments about all the guns mounted on all of Batman's vehicles - the gatling gun construction method with the binoculars is very clever, but Batman isn't so much a fan of lethal force as he is of deterrent force. There's a difference! Here's an alternate model I made from the parts in this set (okay, I sneaked in the propeller from another set):
  12. Cavegod, that is a proper masterpiece! You've captured the shape of the ship really really well for a brickbuilt ship. I don't think it's blocky at all; it's about as blocky as your reference picture. I always love it when I see an MOC on such a scale that at first glance it doesn't look like it was made with LEGO - but it was! Ter-ri-fic!
  13. Hey, this is really nice for your first MOC! The custom speeder is pretty nifty. However, you'll always want to make it look interesting, and not have too much free "stud space" for a diorama like this. Perhaps you could fit the crocodile onto the base plate itself? Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of structures and landscapes, and play around a little when designing an environment like this. I always like to take a look around Brickshelf before building something to get some inspiration. Keep building always!
  14. Once again, a great review Penguin. Oh man, these bring back such fantastic memories. I really miss the Batman line, especially the first wave. I wasn't a really big fan of this hovercraft version of the Batboat to be honest, and the use of very large pieces makes it seem a little <insert that tiresome argument>, if you get what I mean. I did like that you could turn both turbines in unison though. The little speeder boat that can be detached from the main thing is a nice touch - but the hovercraft looks really empty when the smaller boat isn't docked to it. You are right when you say that a large part of this line is the minifigs, I really agree. All the looks that they settled on for the villains are very appropriate, and struck a nice balance between the comic books and TV shows. To end off, I've always thought the Batboat should look more like this MOC I did: Hee.
  15. Thank you as always KielDaMan. Yeah, I was very fortunate to be able to see the thing up close and personal! A very unexpected treat. Hmm, thanks for pointing that out - Couldn't figure out how to do the side windows, and I never realised it was missing air intakes!. I hopped on over to have a look at your version and it is amazing! I'll see whether I can work those in; would be great to revisit this one.
  16. Luxor V, that's fantastic! Such satisfaction he must feel! And, thanks to everyone who liked the "Order 66" pun! Moar.
  17. First, bragging time! Two years ago while on vacation in the States, I was able to take a photograph with one of the actual Tumbler Batmobiles used during the production of "The Dark Knight" (at a Warner Bros Studios backlot tour). I didn't want to buy LEGO's official Tumbler set, and set about trying to build my own from the pieces I had. I'm really proud of the shape of the whole thing, but when you compare it to the photo above the scale is way off and it is much much bigger compared to a minifig than the actual car is compared to, uh, me. I nicked the wheels off the Harley Quinn hammer truck - tee hee! Thanks for looking! Brickshelf gallery (when public)
  18. Here's something I think Miss Kyle might like! Batman has arrived to foil Catwoman in the process of stealing a priceless emerald diamond from a secure vault. I didn't want to wall everything up so that Batman and Catwoman wouldn't be visible, so I tried to use a kind of a cross-secion effect. I hope the structure as a whole doesn't look too boring. 19. Hi Bionicle factory, great to see another newbie around the forums! I actually did do an MOC Tumbler as well - will post that soon!
  20. I built this several years ago, and am still quite happy about it. When I first built the 2004 Snowspeeder, I made a little maintenance docking bay where it could get refuelled and repaired. In order to create a kind of battle scene, I partially took the maintenance bay apart and added some details to make it look as if it had been attacked by Imperial forces. I didn't want this to look random or thrown-together, so I tried to add the right details to make it seem like an attack was indeed in progress. Thanks for looking as always!
  21. Hey, thanks once again KielDaMan! You're right that the wheels are too big, it is way off scale. However, they are about the same size as the front wheels used on LEGO's official Tumbler set - and the front wheels of the Tumbler are indeed the wheels of the Batpod. As requested, here's a picture of Batman riding the Batpod. But due to the scale, it is more than a wee bit silly.
  22. Hey, thanks everyone! I've gotta say, I've been made to feel very welcome here in the past day since I've joined. Thank you all! Miss Kyle, I'm sorry about that - I've felt the same way about many other MOCs I've seen where the missing factor for me would be the minifig. As a Batman fan I tried to get as many Batman sets as I could, and it was prudent since the line is dead for the moment. You'll get her someday! Princess Muttonchops, I was indeed toying with the idea of a man-eating Venus flytrap! I've seen at least one MOC on Brickshelf with a great looking brick-built version. But I thought I wanted to do a small vig, and don't have the pieces to pull it off - especially the "teeth".
  23. Hey Praiter Yed, thank you! And everyone else who's been posting here, keep the funnies rollin' in. Also Praiter, I have exactly the same problem about shooting with natural light! Once it hits night, all the incandescent bulbs in the house go on and everything looks yellow/orange, so I can only shoot in the morning-mid afternoon. It's like a reverse vampire thing! Also, I did a joke about the duel in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but then I went back and discovered Praiter had beaten me to the punch. D'oh! Here it is anyway. And a horrific pun that I love more than I should
  24. Smokebelch, lightningtiger and Praiter Yed, I really appreciate your comments! I've always been afraid to have a crack at a Jabba's Palace MOC, because all the ones in existence are so huge. But once I came across a smaller vig-type one on Brickshelf, I thought "something like that could be just as cool!" and had a go. Thanks also for your compliments on my choice of using Indy's whip as Jabba's pipe! Yay.
  25. ^^ I thought exactly the same thing! I saw some footage of that episode, and went "that looks a lot like Bossk!" Well done there. Also, I really appreciate your compliments, Mr Man! I'm glad you found it funny! Here are two more.
