Heroica RPG - Quest#3: The Missing Matriarch
Pandora replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Oh. My. God. We have to care as well now? Well, I'll start by singing a soothing lullaby, having been blessed with a sweet singing voice, and if that doesn't work I'll have to move on to hugging them or something. Just don't ask me to hide the look of disgust on my face if I do. -

Well, we hacked everyone else to pieces and they turned out just fine. Sheesh, this is what you get for thinking of the children... Hmm, can we try to rearrange the beds to match the tiles on the floor? It's not a particularly magical solution, but I sense that the Ziegfrieds would get a bit miffed if we cast spells at their kids... -
Dmitri you were wrong about Wilem, we know that now - poor Wilem, he was also wrong about there being two mafias as we now discover that Vera was actually a member of the Baritones mafia. So why did you tell us Wilem was a memeber of the Baritones? Either you believed it yourself and have been tricked, or you deliberately misled us, because you're scum yourself. I know you've already said your piece, but I still can't quite decide about you. It's an audacious move to pull if you are scum, but I don't know why you'd draw attention to the presence of a second scum group if you were scum yourself. Having had proof that the Baritones exist now, I find it hard to believe you'd do this if you were a Baritone yourself, surely you'd want to stay hidden? But if you're a Russian it seems odd to draw attention to yourself in this way when you've lost two of your scummates. All of that notwithstanding, you were wrong, and we lost a good (but sweary) man in Wilem as a result of your words and we run the risk of losing more by listening to you. The poisoner was out again it seems, from the picture everyone's been talking about. We know the Tommy gun killer struck, but do we also have a bike-riding-baseball-bat-wielding scum to deal with? And an evil chicken? Embarrassingly the poisoner has a better track record for finding scum than we do, although they've killed plenty of us along the way too. As always I fear for their actions but hope they managed to target a scum last night. I guess we'll find out, soon enough.

Perhaps something akin to the original idea could be combined into the "Events" forum? Maybe not a subforum, perhaps, but there are often meet-ups arranged at various stores, and obviously the opening of new stores attracts a lot of attention and discussion as to what the store has and so forth. A lot of the information people want to know about a store can be found there, but also spread through the General Discussion and sometimes other forums. I think people do want to know and would be interested, as there are often questions on what to find on a PaB wall or BaM section in various stores. A "home" for information such as this might reduce multiple topics asking the same questions.

Wilem, I'm still trying to work a few things out in my head. It's evident I still haven't made up my mind, and I realise a conviction has already been reached, however that doesn't mean we can't talk a few things out. So I'd like you to clarify a few points, if you will? You tell us you have been discussing some details in private, that there is a ninja, and that the ninja is Dmitri. The person who declared you to be a memeber of the Baritones - the second mafia you don't believe exists. I actually agree that there is a real threat of a ninja. I listened very carefully to Agent Sky's last words too. snip Next, among the Russian Mafia family, there is one crafty and sly character which is almost completely undetectable. I remembered reading many books before, it also meant that the character owns the similar Ninja affiliated ability and our dear investigator might very much likely get a positive reading of that secretive character as townie upon investigation. I do safely think that person is one of a low probable hit rate since we got more townies among us. Then again, please do not forget about this vital point. You were keen to bring it to our attention back then, too. But we disagree on something. I have been saying for some time that I feared we were facing more than one mafia threat, and I'm not the only one. You are quite adamant that this cannot be the case: Even though Agent Sky, indeed a man of integrity also says: I have a dreadful feeling you are manipulating us with your recent revelation regarding the ninja, but as I said, because of Agent Sky's words I do believe one exists, and I doubt we've found them yet. I'm just still not sure it whether it is Dmitri or not - can anyone else verify that Nika was indeed trying to target Dmitri?

No, I absolutely remember it now from before, I had just forgotten! However, using a gem that's effective against all enemies is still a good strategy in case one's original target is defeated first, if nothing else I suppose.

Yes I agree with checking the Nursery first, we keep being told to think of the wretched brats darling children. I also think it would be wise to check the Master Bedroom last, as it seems to be the source of the purple light and we wouldn't want to miss out on any wanton destruction, now would we? Oh, and before I forget, let's apportion the spoils from our last battle. It's possible we might get some more Tonics at some point, so I'll give these non-magical items to non-Mages and hope it all evens out in the end. So, Bacari gets the fire bomb, and Sylph and Cronk get a bone each. Sound OK? Good. Let's go! -
Another Full Moon makes me very uneasy, it's clear that it has already had some effect in delaying finding out about Petra and Catya's affiliations, and I wonder what other effects there might be. It's likely, as Petra was killed with the Tommy Gun (in a most unpleasant way) that we can assume she is town, and Catya - well as has been said it looks very much like an act of God, but what was the reason behind it? Because she was quiet, or because she didn't vote? Or is it another scum kill dressed up to look like an accident? I don't remember anything like this happening the last Full Moon, even though it was only a couple of nights ago, so is there more to come? Have we missed anything else? And clearly the poisoner is back unfortunately, which means we can once again spend the first part of the day fretting that we will lose another townie to their cowardly action. I'm a little surprised at the nature of Wilem's reaction to Dmitri's investigation report. (Wilem you swear like a sailor! ) Having been relatively quiet he suddenly seems quite vocal, however it is great to hear him share his theories and some of his information. The information regarding the logical explanation to Nika's grenade backfiring would help us sort an awful lot of this mess out, however I understand if you are reluctant to reveal it here in public. I don't know what to make of Dmitri's investigation report, but hearing how Wilem has reacted is certainly making me think very hard about it. Wilem, you have our fullest attention now.

Excellent work team! So as my Lightning spell will potentially cause double damage to all enemies in the event of an overflow, I shall cast Lightning on Evil Flying Turkey B from the back row. I'd also recommend you use Lightning (rather than wind), Althior, in case of a surge. Party Order: Cronk Bacari Nyx Althior Namyrra Sylph -

Well it was worth a try, trying to rest and replenish our various life-forces. And if we start thinking of the dinner, we'll have to stop thinking of the children. Unless the children are dinner? Right, so we have a fiery barrier, and it would seem sensible to use our Magely obstacle removing spell casting traits. I would guess that water or ice would be enough to put out the fire, but common sense would suggest wind magic might work too. Common sense left this grand manor long ago though, clearly, what with everyone turning into grumpy furniture. So I would suggest that Namyrra starts off by aiming an ice spell at the blast of heat. I'd also suggest that if anyone wants to use a Tonic or anything else (no, not the bathroom Cronk) for that matter, then now is the time. -
You falsely painted me as a liar when you lied about me yourself. You have some connection to the dead Godfather that you won't explain. You fill our heads with questionable evidence from a Peeping Tom whose role sounds more bizarre than even our God could come up with. You try to lead us to vote for our fellow townies and then say that it's not your fault and you're working hard for us. And then you threaten me by saying that the only way to save myself is to vote for Dmitri. I hear rumours now, from someone who bothered to ask me properly, that you base your suspicions of me on a report about me from Donil, who was proved to be scum, and you seem to think that this scummy misinformation is trustworthy? Why would you believe a scum, unless you are scum yourself? All of this, and the way you have acted and had to back-pedal today only leads me to the conclusion that you must be the snake in the grass. What other conclusion can I draw from your behaviour? You sure as hell don't look town to me, so if we're looking at the words of a dead man, I look back to Stanislav's messages to me (that another has now also seen) where he clearly pointed to you as being scum. So actually, Samuel, I: Vote: Samuel(Sandy)

OK, time to sort out who gets what. I haven't forgotten that Althior received a Grand Tonic from the last battle, however I'm sure there will be more battles to face. Feel free to swap amongst yourselves if you disagree with me, but: Tonics for everyone, except Cronk, who gets a Remedy. Now, given that this is a Library inside a warm and well appointed Manor, and there is no immediate threat evident, I propose we try to rest with our bedrolls to regain lost health and Ether, although Namyrra you might have to rest on the floor. (I'm sure if you ask them nicely, one of the boys will give you somewhere to rest. ) Having rested as much as we can, we indeed should then proceed to the kitchen, and lift the curse of more mages-as-household-items. By killing them. -
No, Samuel, let me make this crystal clear, I said I was only talking to one person, which at the time was true. I've just checked and my last conversation with Dmitri was 5 non-Moonlight days ago. The reason why it's not true now? Because you're also trying to whisper in my ear, telling me that the only way to save myself is to vote for Dmitri. When someone says to you "I am only talking to one person" do you automatically expect them to list every single person they had a conversation with since the start of this ordeal, even if those conversations were long over? Having already admitted to me in private and public that you lied, why are you still focused on me? This isn't a pokerface, I'm defending myself against the odd accusations you've been making against me for some time, both in private and in public. I'm still unclear what these suspicions are, will you ever tell me?
-
Timur, Stanislav did tell me about the vest and Dmitri confirmed things as I have already said, and I have the messages to prove it. I would be more than happy to share them with you. Samuel has already admitted to me in private that he also lied to me about the Peeping Tom targeting me last night. If the Peeping Tom had been watching me he would have seen that I did nothing, because I don't have a night action. I will pre-empt your petulant "well of course you'd say that", with: what else can I say when it is the truth and, in as much as anything can be proven, I can prove it? Why? Why are you so convinced? I have asked questions, raised information, pointed out things that God has said, where has this come from? If you have more to say about me than that my posts are a bit long, then I'd be much more interested to hear it as I am failing to see why you're accusing me.

Well, let's see what we can come up with, eh? Party Order: Sylph Nyx Cronk Bacari Namyrra Althior And obviously I agree with the aged Namyrra, I shall cast Lightning on the Flying Book (Blue), from the back row. Fingers crossed team! -
Have you gone senile old man? How can I have “told you" I hadn't been speaking to Dmitri when I hadn’t even read your private question, let alone answered it? This is a flat out lie on your part and you know it, and it makes me wonder what else you’ve lied about. You tell me the Peeping Tom is asking you to vote for me, but you give me no other information, and you still haven’t explained to me how the Peeping Tom is able to combine the role of Watcher and Tracker and know that their target was targeted unsuccessfully. Consider this my very public response to your private (and very odd) questions: At the time that you accused Stanislav I contacted him to raise some concerns with him. Stanislav also revealed to me that he was the Inventor and told me he was also working closely with Dmitri, so closely in fact that he had given Dmitri a bullet-proof vest. I then contacted Dmitri to ask if he had received any items from anyone, and Dmitri confirmed he had received the vest from Stan. I continued to exchange messages with both of them until Stanislav’s untimely death and when Dmitri first brought his claim to be the investigator to the fore. I stopped talking to Dmitri at that point while I tried to work out Stan’s final message and Dmitri's roleclaim. So I am not in contact with Dmitri currently, but several days ago I was. Stan’s message didn’t make sense to me, he hadn’t said anything about suspecting Denis or Dmitri to me and he didn’t send me a last-breath message so I was (and remain) entirely confused over the whole thing. I did tell you I was only currently in contact with one particular person and I am, I didn’t realise you wanted me to list every single person I’ve ever spoken to – it is relatively public knowledge that Petr also contacted me as part of his “let’s randomly contact 10 townies” crack-pot scheme and I can think of a couple of others including someone who worked very hard privately to try to convince me to vote for Petr. I still have the messages from all these people, and would have even shown you if you’d given me a chance to even hear your question. There are so many things about you that just don’t add up. You were voteless to begin with, and it seems as though Max was the one who had stolen your vote, I even told you I thought as much, but it also crossed my mind why your vote? Was there some sort of connection between you and Max? Even Stan asked if you had some sort of secret causing you to be blackmailed. Then there is the fact that you’ve been keen to coordinate our voting each day – you pushed for Ruxana’s lynch two days in a row and kept going on about how she was "full of lies" when it seems she was telling the truth. You report that you are talking to someone with some spurious Watcher/Tracker ability, yet when you try to report the results you also say that they learn other information too – like I say, I still don’t think you’ve adequately explained this. You now tell me in private and in public that people are performing night actions on me that I know nothing about (and have had no indication from God about), and imply that the Peeping Tom was watching me last night, yet neglect to mention whether or not your biggest suspect today (of the few you’ve bandied around), Dmitri, was seen targeting me with an investigation as he himself claims. I was still unsure whether you were just being fed false information, or were indeed the one feeding that false information to us, but you’re making it personal now - have I been asking too many questions Samuel, is that why you feel the need to lie about me today? From all the stuff you've been suggesting in private, and now saying I've "told you" something when I haven't even responded to your question, I'm finding it very hard to have any faith in you at all. You’ve led us all on a merry dance of convicting townie after townie, throwing random snippets of apparently received information, and wafting your finger of suspicion around hither and thither. The one person you know I’ve been talking to consistently should hopefully verify much of this information, however I deeply regret giving you their name now. I actually think it’s about time you started answering some questions, and I’m not happy to cast a vote on anyone else until you provide a damn good explanation as to why you lied today for starters.

Well, that went swimmingly. Sylph and Namyrra, you both speak wisely and Sylph you're far from useless. Althior I respect, nay admire your bloodlust, but Sylph has made an excellent point and I'm sorry to have to ask you once again to change your target to the Flying Book(Blue), whilst I attempt to attack Mabel with Lightning again from the back row with Namyrra. Beware though, Althior, you will take full damage in the front row. Party Order: Cronk Bacari Nyx Althior Namyrra Sylph (just in case you pull off a miracle thingy) -
Nika blew herself up? What the hell? She was a brave firefighter and I was honoured to serve with her, but this is yet another way that someone has been killed and we still seem to be chasing our tails. There is some relief in the fact that there were no other kills last night and that the poisoner did not strike, but it does mean that we need to seriously consider the possible reasons for this. Was there a conversion (or two?) or a successful block or protection? There was some mention of a possible ninja a few days ago, has someone attempted to target them and failed due to their ninjareyness? Did people just decide to take the night off, or did the scum forget to report their dastardly deeds to God? Added to that is that yet again we managed to convict another of our own in Ruxana, and we seem to be doing a good job of making ourselves extinct and giving the scum an easy ride. Again I worry that people seem happy to have made up their minds when it seems to me that there must be more information forthcoming about the events of last night but it also strikes me that given our poor track record either those who wish to help us have been speaking to the wrong people, or that the scum have somehow managed to feed misinformation to our empowered townies. I'm cautious about reading anything much into the visual memories we have, poor Barbara was mocked by God for her suggestions and we know our God is fickle. When he has overseen similar desperate situations as these in the past he has both laughed at his followers for not picking up on clues he left in our visual memories and threatened divine retribution upon those who have attempted to do so. Each day we seem to heading further down a dark alley, away from the truth and further towards our doom and we must be missing something here to have not realised why yet.

The party order doesn't matter when it comes to losing Ether, it will only matter if we fail to target one of our foes, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid here. There are six of us and only one can target Mabel the Table, which you are currently doing, and the rest of us have to target all the other baddies and take the risk of losing Ether against the books. To be perfectly honest it would be better for me to target Mabel as I am stronger, have more Ether to lose, and can still use Lightning. With that in mind, the party order stays as it is and I will target Mabel from the back row with Lightning, and I suggest you Althior target the Flying Book(Blue) also from the back row with your lightning. -
Hello! Hope you have an extremely Happy Birthday 'Stein, and a truly wonderful day! May you receive numerous CREATOR sets so you can continue to wow us with your alternatives! ~Pandora

Clever Cronk! Mabel is a table! And Althior was indeed right that we'd be attacked by books. Who knew? OK team there are six targets and there are six of us, therefore will everyone please target something different so the enemy don't get extra hits! So Althior and Cronk, one of you should choose a different target, please. In order to maximise our chances in case I do an overwhelming spell thingumy, I will cast Lightning on the Flying Book(Blue) from the back row. Party order: Cronk Bacari Nyx Althior Namyrra Sylph. I think this could be a somewhat testing battle... -
In saying the Peeping Tom saw that Elena targeted me unsuccessfully.

Aww, thanks Schuester, aren't you sweet! Righty-ho, I agree that it's best to start on this floor and work our way through all the rooms. Oh my... there are a lot of rooms to search, 12 in fact that we've not yet been in (not counting the hallways), and we mustn't forget to visit the sunroom. The servants' quarters are as good a place as any to start, unless someone objects? I really would like to kill something soon.
