I understand that LEGO sets are for kids, but at the same time, how many kids do you think really would prefer the anime look? I doubt kids care and the rest of us probably prefer the classic movie style of the black dots for eyes. And for the record, I am and have always been pro-flesh. I thought it looked right from the start. But the anime look just doesn't do it for me.

No kidding. Instead they alienate a good portion of the adult fanbase.

Well we know that we'll be getting the 2009 10th Anniversary Set and probably some more CW sets (for the second season), but I'd bet that we also get an OT set or two.
-
They look stunning, but my only complaint is they have the cartoon style faces. For Obi-Wan and Anakin it's not a big deal, but I knew that there would be characters like Assajj and Ahsoka that would only come that way. Why did you have to do this, LEGO?

Anakin was no longer a Padawan when his braid thing was cut off in the original Clone Wars TV micro-series. I think it's safe to say that something happens to her because there's no sign of her in Episode 3. So it really does make sense that Anakin would have a Padawan during that time period.

We're more likely to get Boba Fett once the live action series debuts, hopefully in 2009 if the writers' strike ends soon.

Help choose a Lego Star Wars 10th annaversiry set (2009)
WookieeWarrior replied to Legoman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Do you guys really think that LEGO isn't going to get around to doing the RBR? We also know that the rumor mill says we're getting a Death Star later this year. That's why I'm going with the chrome Naboo Starship. It seems like something like the 10th anniversary with a higher price point is the only way that LEGO will make this. The chrome would easily make it worth the $150 price point. They've proven with the Republic Cruiser and the ISD that they can do it justice at $100. Where is the other $50 going to go? Or you get one that's far bigger than the ISD. I also find it funny that the OT people think they're the only ones out there. Yeah, we still need tauntauns and an Endor bunker (we've gotten Ewoks, biker scouts, and an Endor Luke), but there are also a lot of potential sets that haven't even been done once from the PT. Can you honestly say that you wouldn't want a chrome starship? Can you imagine how awesome that would look? -
If I didn't know better, I'd say that green character is just a pic of the head without the body. Really, that looks absurd.

The 2002 or 2003 version was an UCS set and not minifig scale. As you can see in the picture below, it was around 4 times the size of a battle droid. The new version is a bit too small, only about twice the size of a battle droid, but still much closer to scale.

It's entirely possible that it is an adaptation of the comic for the TV series. Dave Filioni is a huge fan of the EU and we know for a fact that at least a few of the episodes are being written by the same people who write the Star Wars comics.
-
It's possible and it seems to be the popular theory, but I have a feeling that Anakin's new ship will be the yellow one we've already gotten. I'd bet that unlike in the prequels, the characters will be sticking with the same ship a bit more. It's one thing to have to make new models and designs for a movie series with 3 years in between, but I would imagine that it's something completely different when you have to crank out a season of episodes. Just my two cents

What will happen when star wars lego is gone forever?
WookieeWarrior replied to General Zen's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well lucky for you, kids don't play with Trek toys lol. Don't forget there's also the live action series coming in 2010 and it's going to be absolutely huge. -

To quote Padme, "Let's pray that day never comes". I would imagine that the SW line has been very good for LEGO, heck, it's the only line my WalMart carries. If it happened, I'd be sad, but I guess I'd just have to build sets on my own- even though I'm pretty bad when it comes to building sets from my own imagination. -
Well, the RGS looks great, but I'm dreading to see the awful animated face designs for a CW exclusive character like Assajj. It's just too bad they decided to do that.

According to show runner Dave Filoni, we're going to see a switch in the armor as the series progresses. So eventually we'll see Ep III clones.

What is the $130 SW "Twilight' Set # 7680?
WookieeWarrior replied to johnsocal's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's really anyone's guess as to what it is. That price could be wrong too as it's so early that it might not be accurate, so we shouldn't read too much into that. But going on what we know, if I had to guess I would say it's this year's $100 minifig ship, perhaps a capital ship or one of Padme's ships that we'll see in the series. -
Probably because these are pictures from a catalog and they didn't flatten the pages.
-
Yes, it was from Ep III, but this ship will be featured prominently in the new Clone Wars series.
-
It's also interesting that under the silhouettes on the AT-TE, Anakin Skywalker, along with two other characters are listed. Other than that, these sets look absolutely wonderful.
-
Actually, it's just a caption for a picture of Padme's death that's on SW.com. http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/explor...ap20051121.html
-
Very true, but I'd bet that we'll get some new characters that can't be so easily fixed.
-
Well, I still hate they they added another group of minifigs with this animated style, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I guess I'll just have to live with it. I do thing they hair is a great improvement over the original Ep III Anankin style. I think the ship looks great and I can't wait to see this new series!
-
Even if the faces aren't cartoon style, the sets are still based on the Clone Wars. And I'd bet that at least 75% of the fans are against the cartoon style because it's not compatible with the others that we already have.
-
I would've been nice if Lego had made it a double sided face with one for the silly anime look and one for the standard movie style.
-
Amen. I hear so many people get their panties in a wad when LEGO doesn't give them exactly what they want. They've trown a ton of bones our way of late, but they also want to keep up with the new stuff in the SW universe. Force Unleashed and the Clone Wars is on the way and it would be silly for LEGO to disregard it. The OT had a great year in the 2007 line.
