  1. Hopefully I've read it right and here's a pic of the Caribbean Clipper, Eldorado Fort, Sabre Island and Harbour Sentry all together. Bluecoats! by The Imperial Soldier, on Flickr
  2. As I thought the parcel was a boxed 6276: Fort Eldorado! :D Also got an extra raised baseplate which I intend on incorporating into a MOC at some point. https://flic.kr/p/EiA1pn It's chipped in the corner but I'll probably end up covering that anyway.
  3. I'm in the UK so I presume that it's a UK box although it may have passed through a few sellers. I noticed I have a Lagoon Lockup box which is also purple and they both have the "System" logo on them so I wondered if for the 2nd generation line they'd just changed the boxes by then as it was 2 years after the first line. In other news I had to sign for a large parcel as I left for work this morning and I suspect it's a boxed EF which I won recently. Won't find out till I get home! :D
  4. Yeah, I like the extra minifigs. I have a few more on the way. In the meantime here's the 2 out of the boxes! I noticed with 6258 it has a purple box. Did they change them later on or is it likely to be a different countries release?
  5. Thanks, I'll read through that when I get on a PC later. In the meantime I just got home from work to find a parcel with 2 treats inside: :D
  6. I've posted so many times that the "new member" thread has disappeared for me so I couldn't read how to embed the photos from Flickr. I'm posting from my phone so it's the mobile site. Will work on getting some better photos up. I have some more Pirate stuff on its way to me so there'll be photos of that too! :D
  7. Hopefully this will work. Opened a Flickr account to put pictures in and this'll be my first.
  8. I have managed to pick up a copy of this but it doesn't include the minifigs. Hoping to get those separately soon.
  9. I think anything that includes Lego parts that make something or minifigs is a set. I didn't realise the comic came with minifigs at first, I've managed to buy one but the minifigs aren't included. I can see that they're not rare ones though so should be able to get them separately! I have most of the original line now. Just need the 2 big Pirate sets, FI and BSB.
  10. How rare is this set? It looks like just the comic and a couple of minifigs. I don't remember it being released when I was a kid so was it some kind of special release?
  11. On Brickset they list 12 sets as being part of the original launch line. This includes a double pack (6235 & 6245) and a comic 6255. So technically for single sets its 10 sets altogether. Is that right?
  12. Will try to get photos up of the CC soon. Have also just got a joblot of Pirate building parts off eBay. Looks like the majority of both the EF and FI sets from the pictures although the seller says they are incomplete. Need to build them up and see what's missing, then get any parts needed from Bricklink. I already have the EF so this 2nd one is mainly for parts to use in a MOC.
  13. The printed one. The other 2 look too plain.
  14. My first set was the Eldorado Fort which I got for my 12th birthday about 25 years ago! I bought it again 2 years ago and it's currently the pride of place in my small collection.
  15. Probably the most obvious one but I would say the single best set was 6285 Black Seas Barracuda. It was part of the original Pirates launch line in 1989 and the biggest set. 8 minifigures including Captain Redbeard and the female pirate. A fully enclosed but accessible cabin and storage areas. Also it's the most iconic symbol of being a pirate all encapsulated in one set. Captain Redbeard with his eyepatch, wooden leg and parrot sailing a galleon flying the Jolly Roger with a cargo of gold coins!! You can't get any more "piratey" than that!!!!
  16. Great review. This set is on my wanted list but as you say at the end of the video it is quite expensive. At the moment my priority is getting 6285 BSB, 6270 FI and 6251 PM sets. Once I have those ill have the entire 1989 launch range. The Eldorado Fort is great. It was my first Pirate set as a kid and the first one I bought again when I got back into collecting. I've seen someone selling both the EF and ITP together recently. They had modified the sets slightly so there was a bridge connecting the fort and trading post together as one big base. Personally I think they should have kept the bluecoats imperials when they released the trading post and other imperial stuff from that time. Changing to redcoats was a little unnecessary I think.
  17. Last week I got the Caribbean Clipper from eBay, built it on Thursday night and now it's pride of place alongside my other sets. I'd already got the other bluecoats sets and it was only the Clipper which was missing! Now to get some Pirates and Redcoat sets!!
  18. Hi all! My name is Steve although I've chosen "The Imperial Soldier" as my username as classic Pirates is my favourite theme specifically the "bluecoats". I'm from the UK and have been into Lego since being bought my first set in the early 80's which was the 6627 Convertible. Over the years I built up quite a sizeable Town/City collection whilst occasionally getting sets in Space, Castle & Pirates themes. Unfortunately as I reached my late teens I ended up selling all my Lego and spending the money on cars, alcohol and women! A couple of years ago I saw the Eldorado Fort on eBay and got nostalgic as it was the first Pirate set I owned as a kid so I bought it. Really enjoyed building it and bought a few other sets. They've sat on the top of a wardrobe for 18 months but the other day I was tempted by the Caribbean Clipper set also on eBay. It was the only bluecoats set I didn't have. It's now built but I'm planning on dismantling all of the other sets to give the bricks a wash as they have gathered dust. I'll then build them up again. Now I'm planning on expanding my collection and getting more pirate sets and redcoats. I'm also thinking about attempting a Pirate MOC but haven't decided what it will be yet! I'm also into N gauge model trains, astronomy and guitar playing. Looking forward to entering the discussions here and eventually sharing a MOC!
