2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
thewatchman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I totally agree with all of this take. Creator and friends are really doing a lot of heavy lifting for design lately. The creator castles have been great for minifigures and parts suppliers (maybe not so much the horse knights castle, too many large panel pieces), but I wonder why not making minifigure packs with small side build like a carriage or a small ruin havnt been made available, I honestly think for the company this would just be printing money. -

I actually think that Lotr sets have done a huge amount of damage for castle fans. Getting bi-yearly overpriced massive sets in grey / light grey / black kind of takes away from the fun, bright, interesting style that castle used to offer. I might be biased because I build with my son but smaller battle packs and smaller sets seems like a bit more user friendly and accessible. Seeing the way they have approached the Pokémon licence is kind of the perfect example. A children’s animated series with $600 first release, predatory gift with purchases, over blown other sets with black boxes and an 18+ on the corner without a shred of self awareness. -

So soul crushed that we’re imagining costume versions of castle figs 😂. Time to accept that TLG activity doesn’t want to give castle fans or pirate fans a bone if they can just drip feed occasional figs into wildly priced sets. Interestingly I read in a staff breakdown by age of TLG workers recently and many were under the age of 38, which made me realise that most probably arnt nostalgic for the same stuff as many fans who grew up with these themes, and perhaps why we have seen fortnight sets; over watch sets; horizon sets, a large run of one-piece sets and 2 series of Harry Potter collectible minis. -
These look incredible. I love the trident build too. I had a few delivered and used some ninjago legs and a cmf torso to build a custom too.

Hard agree with this with the exception of a few sets. I loved the fantasy era skeleton boat attack on the harbour. but mill village was the best return. -

Yep, you were 100% right. I love seeing these “virtuous” companies jacking up the price of sets to gouge the customers while changing the name to appease imaginary offended people. Bravo lego. -

I still have my version of this on my display shelf and I love it a lot more than the offical one, so make of that what you will. Seems like the early leak was right about it just being a pure display piece. How disappointing. -

For films that include the hanging of a child this is a ridiculous and arbitrary hill to die on. -

Not really because Hollywood can’t do anything new they are simply putting, “interchangeable pirate A onto famous ship black pearl? You remember the black pearl? That’s everyone’s favorite!”. It’s a dumb technique that modern Hollywood seems to love, as in putting new crew on star ships, or fedoras on others, completely missing the entire point of what made them good, but I’m getting off topic. Haha your never, ever seeing that name on a ship or even printed into the little book it’s coming with. -

The new movie is apparently based on the all female script Disney worked about 6 years ago. Ayo EdebirI is apparently the lead actress and if Depp appears (which he said they would have to pay him 20 mil and an apology) it will likely only be a cameo. -

I’m not sure Disney want new movies to be associated with Johnny Depp, hence this being captain sparrows pirate ship. I think there is a much more important meaning to this name change. -

So hogsmead full leaks and I’m supposed to believe that someone with the box that leaked earlier shots hasn’t leaked the rest? Pretty lame viral market research TLG.
