Please can someone remind me when the Fantastic Four set is rumoured to release?

Agree with all of this, and yeah to amend my earlier comment I agree that Suicide Squad as a whole are known - but casuals would probably not be able to name members aside from Harley Quinn.

I know this is the DC thread, but Fantastic Four are definitely a household name, at least where I am in the UK. Most of the people I know in real life are not superhero fans, and a lot would be able to recognise them, name each member, and say their power set. They are more well known than other superhero teams, such as Teen Titans, Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Doom Patrol, Watchmen, Eternals, Inhumans, Midnight Suns, or Defenders. The Fantastic Four are probably fifth most well known superhero team, behind the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Justice League. If you think that Green Lantern is widely known for his 2011 film, then the Fantastic Four would be too considering each of those 2000s Fantastic Four films outgrossed Green Lantern at the box office. Also, JLU isn't known to casuals.

Fantastic Four is nowhere near the bottom of unpopular live action superhero franchises - there's Eternals, a number of Disney+ shows, and quite a few DC misses well below them. The Fantastic Four are still a household name, and are being pushed heavily by Marvel across their verticals right now. To compare them to Howard the Duck is crazy! No-one I know in real life could tell you who Howard the Duck is, never mind that he had cameos in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

I was really excited for the Superman trailer and I'ved loved Gunn's work on Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos. However, I'm sad to say I was underwhelmed with the trailer and I think this could be a rare mistep. The cinematography looks quite weird to me with low angles and and sort of fisheye lenses. I'm also a bit cautious about having Superman's first solo film in a "brand-new" cinematic universe feature so many characters not from the Superman mythos, etc Green Lantern, Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, Mr Terrific, and some random kaiju. I think the focus should have been on Superman only as a superhero and I think that Gunn is using a team dynamic as a crutch since he has a proven track record for team projects. Also, I would have preferred some B-list Superman rogues to be pit against for some action sequences, for example Livewire or Toyman, rather than some random kaiju or laser beam. Further, I'm still confused since although Gunn's comments say conflicted things, Creature Commandos firmly follows on from previous DECU canon with ARGUS, Waller, Flag, and Weasel so not quite sure where the DCU reboot really stands - which is making me trust the validity of his announcements less each time. To get back on subject with LEGO, I think it's a shame that sets are not being produced for this film because it needs WB's full confidence to reboot the DC cinematic universe. Also, I would have forgiven all the extra superheroes if they produced minifigures for them If the new Batcave is indeed based on Schumacher films I'll be disappointed. Why is LEGO DC targetting at 4-year olds and 40-year olds and no-one in-between?

Actually, I think not having any of non-Batman related sets or minifigures in 5 years is probably the worst state this theme has been in. With the relaunch DC's cinematic universe with a theatrical film of its most iconic superhero, I think a lot of us were hopeful for a small relaunch of this theme - even if just one set with main cast. It's a huge missed opportunity to not have any LEGO tie-in sets.

Anti-Venom set is an instant purchase for me - always happy getting new characters in cheap sets!

I don't think getting exact scales is too important when it comes to LEGO. I don't think we're gonna start measuring the walls of the X-Mansion and the dimensions of the X-Jet to see if the ratios accurately compare to a minifgure. I think being in an approximate scale is important, which these sets do. The Iron Monger is an example where the scale is completely off. I like bigfig designs such as the Hulk, Thanos, Darkseid, Gorilla Grodd because they would be completely underserved as a minifgure and I find the midfigs such as Axl awful. I view LEGO as a translation of a character's design that doesn't have to be exact - but still need to look aesthetically pleasing. I find bigfigs add a more dynamic look within a group, for example when displaying the Avengers, and hopefully the Fantastic Four. Additionally and maybe most importantly, these are toys! Kids want the Hulk to fight the Thing, Red Hulk, Abomination, etc! A minifigure only version of these characters worsens the playability of this, since the Hulk has made a convention for large characters to be bigfigs. Look at these cool designs from the LEGO Marvel Superheroes videogame a decade ago and tell me that a minifigure version of the Thing would better. LEGO has also consistently portrayed the Thing as a bigfig in the videogame and D+ special, so if the Thing is indeed a minifig, it's their own fault for setting this expectation.

Agreed, the bigfig Thing in the recent D+ special was perfect and a minifigure version is extremely underwhelming.

Cool that there are new characters introduced in this subtheme, I will probably buy Trapster on BrickLink later down the line as I did Zola. But I wish we could get non 4+ versions of these characters. It was bad enough with the Mighty Micros introducing Bizarro and Doomsday that have never made the jump to regular sets.

While I see this is a realistic proposal for the CMF, this really would not excite me so much since only Prowler, India, Punk, and Byte would be new minifigures - who are mostly very obscure variants and could easily be thrown in a set like the new Spider-Verse set. I purchased the entire roster for the last two Marvel CMF series, and I doubt I would collect the entire roster for this.

I agree, LEGO Marvel is treated quite differently than LEGO DC nowadays. For Marvel, it's almost exclusively heroes and "antiheroes" eg Loki, Magneto, Bucky, and Agatha. For DC, it's almost exclusively Batman and his rogues. Spider-Verse is getting a dedicated set for its latest film, and most of its characters have already been produced in LEGO form to near exact versions as those in the films, eg Gwen, Spider-Ham, 2099, Noir. This rumoured CMF would have to have some ambitious choices to make me feel like this is a fresh product worth purchasing, and not minfigures that I've owned for years. As always, I reserve the right to change my mind

Agree with the first part that Disney Marvel is too quippy, but no way on earth does it lecture the audience. Even if it was, a superhero film expressing some morals or ethics is hardly out of order. Do you find "The Tortoise and the Hare" lectures its audience?

The Spider-Verse CMF rumour sounds interesting and surprising! To be honest, we have already got comic versions of most of the Spider-Man characters from these films, for example Miles, Gwen, Noir, Ham, Scarlet, 2099 - all of which are nearly identical to their film versions. That really only leaves India, Drew, Penny, Punk as new Spider-Man characters. Further, we're getting a set next year with the Spot and Captain Davis. Unless the CMF also features lots of new villains, for example Prowler or Kingpin, I would be dissapointed that it is taking up a whole CMF (a great way to introduce new characters in high-detail) rather than just another set or two to round up the last remaining Spider-Verse characters.

Imagine if we finally get a Mad Hatter minifig to complete the first videogame villain set …. and he’s in an orange Arkham jumpsuit with 😭

It's quite revolting how Disney and LEGO are seemingly trying to hide the skin colour of Wilson's Captain America. It really is diametrically opposed to the nature and values of Captain America.

The Turtle was removed by the mods because he said some extremely unkind things. If these leniant and forgiving mods have removed him, it's for good reason.

Could imagine the next CMF to include: Spider-Man Daredevil Bullseye Kingpin Ironheart The Hood Mephisto Wonder Man Grim Reaper Also might be a good time to catch up on characters from this year: Jubilee Cable Nightcrawler Sunspot Mr Sinister Goblin Queen Bastion Wiccan Death Admittedly, some of these character names might be worrying for LEGO!

To add my opinion to the minifigure printing debate, I personally don't mind if minifigures are 100% accurate to a design from a movie or TV series, so long as they are mostly accurate. I view their minifigure designs not as an exact 1:1 copy, but rather being translated into the LEGO template with its modularity, uniformity, and simplicity; and therefore allowed its own creative choices to an extent. Some of my least favourite Marvel minifigures are the over-designed ones, like the Spider-Man or Hawkeye from CMFs. That being said, I do think there has been some notable corner-cutting. For example, Red Hulk should have dual molded red and black legs to illustrate his torn trousers, and some of the X-Men should have different coloured hip pieces to their legs. On balance, I think that LEGO is cheaping out sometimes, but I don't think it's as egregious as some fans do. The new wave looks pretty good, in particular the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse set is a welcome surprise. Personally, these sets feel fresh in a way that the last couple years of constant Avengers quadrilogy sets haven't.

I think more appropriate corresponding buildings in DC would be: Avengers Tower => Hall of Justice X-Mansion => Wayne Manor Daily Bugle => Daily Planet Sanctum Sanctorum => Tower of Fate That last one is a fun Easter egg for you ;)

Just watched the Mission Demolition special, if only for the gratuitous cameos. Ah, does it feel nice to see X-Men and F4 integrated back into the world of Marvel after their exclusion for the last decade. Appreciated the Deadpool cameo too, indicating that maybe he won't be completely off the table in the future.

Great to finally see official pictures! On the LEGO website for UK it says it releases November 4th, not November 1st as per the press release? Are there different release dates globally? Also, would in-store release date in LEGO store be the same as online?
