  1. Come on LEGO, there's loads of X-Men material you've yet to mine!
  2. I just realised this and don't know if anyone has noted this, but the minifigure selected for Arkham jumpsuits in the latest Arkham Asylum set leaves no repeats from previous normal Arkham Asylum sets (with the exception of the Joker, presumably as you can't produce an Arkham Asylum set without Batman's most iconic rogue). Here are who appears in Arkham jumpsuits in each normal set: 2013: The Joker 2017: Catwoman, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, (and Joker) 2025: Bane, Killer Croc, Penguin, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Penguin, (and Joker) Perhaps this explains why only Catwoman, Riddler, Poison Ivy are in their villainous customes, and Two-Face wasn't included at all. Just an observation.
  3. A lot of US Agent apologists on this forum! He did decapitate a surrendering henchman in a public space. It's clear he's on a redemption arc in the MCU and it's fine to enjoy the character, but to whitewash all his actions simply because he's a sympathetic character is strange. It's also completely understandable why Sam and Bucky would not be in favour of someone whose values misalign with their best friend Steve to take on his legacy - especially as it goes against what is essentially his dying wish to Sam. Anyways, hope LEGO produces a minifigure of US Agent some day!
  4. Haven't bought a new DC set in nearly 5 years. While Arkham Asylum looks amazing and is so tempting, it's really expensive and the minifigure selection is not exclusive enough to warrant the price point. At least the Daily Bugle and X-Mansion had 5 exclusive new characters each - some of which fans had been begging for for years. The rumours that next year's wave is just repeat Batmobiles from old films is disappointing. Please LEGO, give me some regular DC sets other than Batmobiles and a minifgure selection expanding beyond Batman, the Joker, and Harley Quinn. I'm sure the designers are as bored as the consumers at this point.
  5. At first, I was interested in a new LEGO Batman game since I loved and played the first three games. In fact, the first game was what sparked my interest in both LEGO and Batman many years ago. I'm dissapointed that this is not an original story like the first three games, but instead a weird merging of previous Batman films. Being bound by previous films really limits creativity, and you can see that reflected in its character choices. Although I think they are good films, I don't think that the Nolan or Reeve films are that fantastical or comic-booky so in my opinion they are a poor decision to make a LEGO Batman game on. Also in general, I am tired of LEGO mostly regurgitating content from films decades old, rather than being creative and innovate with something fresh and new.
  6. Honestly, I am not trying to argue with you that MCU doesn't have problems because it clearly does. I also don't want to start arguing about more things. All I wanted to defend was that, given the power of the Avengers brand with families and its historical record-breaking box office grosses, it would be extremely unlikely for Doomsday to gross under $600M, or be be lower than Supergirl, as someone had claimed. I would bet massive amounts of money on that.
  7. I don't use or need or want AI to express my opinions, thanks. I just try to write clearly so my points could not be misconstrued. I was trying to make a point that family friendly films are doing well post-pandemic, and Marvel as a brand is extremely favoured by children. As well as adults of course, as we are all here! Exactly, a lot of Marvel's audience are not online. All three MCU movies this year have underperformed, but I wouldn't say Fantastic Four: First Steps bombed when it's the highest grossing F4 movie and tracking for $500M range. I think people have poor memory and look through rose-coloured glasses since the MCU has ALWAYS been a mixed bag in terms of box office and quality (except for a 2-year period between 2017 and 2019, which featured two Avengers movies). The one consistent money maker has been the Avengers films, which is why I'm defending that Doomsday will likely make more than $600M and more than Supergirl, as someone had claimed earlier. Anyways, to end on a positive note, I hope future films are good quality for both Marvel and DC so we can continue to enjoy our LEGO hobby!
  8. 1. If you think that Marvel films are not family friendly you are kidding yourself. 2. Although Captain America is a household name, Sam Wilson's version is not. 3. Pretty sure the film will focus on the popular Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. Not Yelena's new team with a gimmicky name, or Young Avengers, or other C-Listers. 4. Pretty sure Deadpool and Wolverine will return for at least one of Doomsday or Secret Wars, since the rest of the X-Men are. 5. Disney has consistently been paying RDJ a ridiculous $50M or more for each Avengers more since the first. 6. Superman has indeed beat out all the MCU films this year - but not by a huge margin. Fantastic Four: First Steps is trailing around $100M behind and released 2 weeks later. It's not an overwhelming victory like last year's Deadpool and Wolverine vs Joker: Folie a Deux. I think we should judge the matter of quality of when the film comes out. All four of the Russo brother's Marvel films have a strong track record of quality, especially by the general movie-going audience. I think it's always better to make your own decision when a film comes out, rather than rely on the bias points of view from those within the studio. Remember that James Gunn did say that The Flash was one of the greatest superhero movies he'd ever seen Reassured and glad to hear you're not one of those I definitely think parts of Marvel are at risk, and it has lots of issues. For example, Marvel has expanded too wide and lots of the C-List characters evidently cannot hold their own film or series, as their poor audience interest and box office reflects that. I just don't think that the next entry to the record-breaking super successful Avengers series is gonna make less than $600M or be beaten by Supergirl , like your original claim.
  9. The box office required to break even on a hypothetical $500M budget would be a lot higher than $600M. There is almost zero chance that Avengers: Doomsday would make less than $600M, given that the lowest grossing Avengers film made $1.4B, and the last Avengers film was the highest grossing film of all time, at time of release. Even Fantastic Four: First Steps, which features less popular characters, is at $450M currently and still showing in cinemas. I think we've seen time and time again that internet forums, social media comments, and cinephiles do not reflect the general movie-going public, especially with family friendly brands. Look at recent runaway successes like The Super Mario Bros Movie, Inside Out 2, Moana 2, and A Minecraft Movie. Avengers is still a household name, loved by many adult and child fans alike, and is a juggernaut merchandise seller. There was doom and gloom after The Marvels only made $200M at the box office, only to be bounce back with its very next film, mega hit Deadpool and Wolverine at $1.3B. With its most iconic characters and cast, the data shows that the MCU is almost unbeatable - which annoys those trying to fit the facts around their narrative to hate Disney or Marvel. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also expected to be a huge success, but may not be end up being as successful as Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was one of the few blockbusters to come out during the pandemic and reaped the reward of less competition, as well as bringing back fan favourite characters. I think Dune: Messiah will continue its trend of growing its audience and box office, but I don't think it's a billion dollar franchise yet - although could be wrong here. With Superman still flying under $600M, I doubt Supergirl is going to match the film starring her more popular cousin. I'm a big fan of both Marvel and DC and would love to see them both doing well and succeeding, and most importantly having lots of LEGO sets to accompany them!
  10. If Ghost Rider does appear in Avengers: Doomsday, I predict it would only be a cameo at maximum and not something to create a set from. I believe that LEGO is going to use characters that are the most marketable and merchandisable, such as Thor, Black Panther, Captain America, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom. Although I would really love a complete Thunderbolts team in minifgure version, I feel LEGO will rely on the reliable sellers. Additionally, I predict this will be a full wave of 5 or 6 sets (or even more) since the last three Avengers films got at least 5 in their initial waves.
  11. More likely that Dune: Messiah will move release dates backwards as it is not filming yet and would not want to compete against Avengers: Doomsday. Reminder that Avengers is a juggernaut of a film franchise and even the lowest grossing Avengers movie easily outperformed the highest Dune movie. Online forums, Letterboxd, and film twitter may adore Dune - but the truth is general audience loves Marvel and turn out in force for Avengers movies.
  12. Fully agree. I'm happy that we've got a minifig Thing version for the MCU film, however if we ever get comic based sets I'd like the Thing to be a bigfig. That way both groups of fans will be happy!
  13. Appreciate that in the marketing and in-universe, Yelena and John have not gone by their codenames in the MCU, but I personally prefer to give superheroes and supervillains their codenames. It's an intrinsic draw to the superhero genre for me and makes the characters feel more iconic. It felt very weird seeing the Fantastic Four labelled as their civilian names on the new LEGO set rather than their codenames - even though they are all suited up.
  14. Following Thunderbolts*, I think it's a lot more likely that we'll see minifgures for this team in sets for Avengers: Doomsday. Hoping for at least Red Guardian, US Agent, and Sentry minifigures since I already have minifgures for the rest of the team - although Winter Soldier and White Widow are the biggest names on this team and therefore the most marketable and merchandisable.
  15. The new Fantastic Four: First Steps looks medium. On one hand, the Galactus buildable figure looks incredible, however the minifigures look pretty bad - although this is due to adapting the MCU film version. I really don’t like the wooly jumper designs nor the Thing as a minifigure. The Mr Fantastic minifgure looks very little like the comic book character, missing his iconic white temples, and being uncharacteristically not clean-shaven. I love Pedro Pascal as an actor but I think he is overexposed, featuring in too many major franchises without differentiating his appearances. For one project could he at least shave? Overall, I will definitely pick this up as I have waited half my lifetime since this theme was born to get this iconic team in LEGO version. Hoping to get updated modern suits in Avengers: Doomsday, or some comic sets soon that expand the Fantastic Four mythos with the Fantasticar, Baxter Building, and some rogues such as Mole Man, Silver Surfer, Kang the Conqueror, Frightful Four, and Annihilus.
  16. I think you’re over thinking it to be honest. Although prominent at Christmas, which for some is a religious holiday, Santa Claus is not a religious figure. Christmas is widely celebrated by atheists and for a lot of people is completely detached from religion, and is more about celebrating family, gift-giving, eating good food, and watching festive films. Easter is also a celebration that for some is completely detached from religion, and is focused on giving Easter Eggs and going egg hunting. Similarly, the Easter Bunny is not a religious figure. I think LEGO producing Christmas themed sets for the biggest gift-giving day of the year - a day that focuses role play and imagination for children - is exactly what LEGO should be doing.
  17. With the new releases of Daredevil: Born Again and Thunderbolts*, I really hope LEGO at some point takes advantage of the Daredevil mythos with characters like Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra!
  18. Actually, I think it's a great idea to include the original X-Men cast who the general audience has had a 5 or so films to watch and love. In a blockbuster movie stuffed with characters and economical for time per character, the audience immediately has understanding of who the X-Men are, their relationships, powers, motivations, and has an emotional investment in them - a writer's dream! Compared to say newcomers Shangi-Chi, the Thunderbolts and the reboot Fantastic Four cast. Also I firmly believe this is not the full cast, and Wolverine, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Photon, War Machine, and more will appear. Surely Photon is in an X-Men universe from the post-credits of The Marvels, and this is how the main universe is introduced to the X-Men. Praying to the LEGO gods for all minifigures for all characters that have not had the LEGO treatment yet!
  19. Hopefully with these Doomsday casting announcements we'll get more accurate sets and minifigures! It better be a wave like Infinity War - not Endgame!
  20. In public, sure they do. What rational high-profile employee is going to criticise their boss online, for the whole world to see? Gunn also said The Flash film was "one of the greatest superhero movies ever made" - and we all know how that film turned out Don't conflate someone protecting the brand and having your team's back with someone's true opinions.
  21. Complete agree with this. The CEO of DC Studios declaring that the DCU has direction and it actually having direction are two entirely different things. The audience gets to decide whether the it feels like the DCU has direction. Although we are only one project into the new DCU with Creature Commandos, so far it doesn't seem to have direction, as shown by the dozen or so announced projects that feel more like an ambitious and sprawling later chapter of a movie universe than its simple easy-to-join first chapter. Further, not having a definitive reboot, with Gunn's favouritism for his Suicide Squad characters carrying over from the DCEU to DCU, and already having multiple competing theatrical universes with The Batman and Batman: Brave and the Bold, contributes to this feeling incohesive. We've discussed this before on this forum, but the Netflix Defenders shows have never not been canon to the MCU, they frequently reference the Battle of New York from the first Avengers film, and there are newspaper articles describing other MCU films, and even Justin Hammer gets a shout-out with a Hammer Industries weapon in Luke Cage. Admittedly, they didn't crossover with the theatrical MCU characters and began to stand more on their own, but ultimately there is nothing in these series that contradicts the MCU in terms of casting or lore. Unlike, for example having two Supermans portrayed by two different actors with different lore, but carrying over Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and the events of The Suicide Squad from DCEU to DCU.
  22. Gah this list seems so boring 😵‍💫 I appreciate that Spider-Man is by far Marvel’s most merchandisable character, and I’m sure these designs will look cool -but we’re in the trenches of obscurity here! Even if it was all based on Spider-Verse films, we could at least get some villains! We’re on our millionth variant of Spider-Man, but can’t even get Silver Surfer, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Colossus, Mystique, Cable, Kingpin, Elektra, Baron Zemo, Kang, Leader etc. Thank goodness for the X-Mansion and the upcoming Fantastic Four set for giving some fresh blood to this theme.
  23. Completely agree, a Leader minifigure would have been a warm welcome! He's certainly a more well-known (and less controversial) character than Ruth. Further, the movie reveals his character early on, so not sure why marketing tried to keep it a surprise! Unfortunately this might add the Leader to a list of iconic comic book villains we might never see due to being somewhat mishandled in the MCU, either in reception or design. See also: Kang the Conqueror, Baron Zemo, Enchantress, Abomination, Super-Skrull. Thank goodness we got a proper Taskmaster and MODOK minifigs before Black Widow and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. And I fear the Dr Doom minifg from 2013 will be the only true Victor Von Doom version minifig we ever get due to Avengers: Doomsday.
  24. Kinda tired of this "all post-Endgame MCU films are bad" narrative and herd mentality online. Sure, there's been some misses since Endgame but MCU has always had misses. Thor: The Dark World, The Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man and the Wasp to name a few. Do you really think none of the post-Endgame MCU films have been good? Spider-Man: No Way Home? Black Panther: Wakanda Forever? Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume III? Deadpool and Wolverine? I also prefer Doctor Strange in the Mutliverse of Madness and The Marvels over their respective first outings, although I am likely in the minority here.
  25. Thunderbolts trailer looks pretty good! Feels like a missed opportunity for some cool sets and could have introduced new characters: Red Guardian US Agent Valentina Sentry The Void Although Red Guardian was featured in SDCC during COVID pandemic in 2020, this could have been his first minifgure for the general public. I wonder why this is the first non R-rated MCU film to skip a set with its release since Captain America: The Winter Solider 11 years ago? I guess some of the recent MCU misses have caused lower profits for LEGO.
