Wonderful! 8278 pieces for 650 bucks means roughly the same $/piece ratio as for Rivendell (which was 6167 for 500), so it makes sense. I do not mind a microscale exterior and miniscale interior, that's indeed the only way they could pull this off at this price. As for the minifigs I also hope we get more than the ones already leaked, but I will be happy in any case. Can't wait for June :-)

I am not sure that's true. And if it is, I don't really understand why. To me it looks really fine, except for one obvious side scene : the underwhelming Party tree, which is the first thing I improved :-)

I could not agree more, the TandNbricks news are really promising :-) The price does not matter to me either, as long as the set is beautiful and represents faithfully the White City. I am not buying any other Lego sets these days, also saving for it. I will buy it even if it costs 1,000 Euros (but hopefully it will not go that high).
-
Exactly. I love Lego sets, I love books and I also love movies. I own all the existing Lego LOTR sets (except BrickHeadz of course which I can't stand), collector editions of the main Tolkien books (LOTR, Hobbit, Silmarillion) and collector 4K bluray steelbooks of the LOTR trilogy. I also have other LOTR stuff, like a replica of Anduril and of the One Ring, but that's another story. I am now lucky (and old) enough to have a big house to be able to properly display all that.
-
It is not just about the label. I never bought any ''LOTR'' BrickHeadz for example, because to me they do not really belong in the theme - I find them really ugly and I think they would look totally out of place in a display with all my real LOTR sets. But the upcoming Minas Tirith set is probably the only one we will get in our lifetime, so even if it badly designed (I pray that it isn't), it will still be worth it at least for the minifigs and to be used as as base for a MOC. The situation is very different in the SW theme, for which we are spoiled with countless sets and several versions of all the iconic ships and locations. I skipped the Death Slice because I already own a previous version (75159) which is actually a sphere and which I like much better. I cannot afford to be as picky for a Minas Tirith set, which for me is a dream come true - I still can't believe it is actually happening :-)
-
Yes it does look pretty good, I am not sure why some people dislike it. Exactly :-)
-
Only true for Minas Tirith. We already have two sets on Moria and a very decent Helm's Deep. I would not mind new bigger versions of these two locations but it is just incorrect to say that they are missing.
-
I don't really understand how a true Lego LOTR fan could skip a Minas Tirith set, whatever its format... if it is not designed to your wishes, you could always use it as a base for a MOC, rather than skipping it.
-
Correct. The Minas Tirith set must cover the whole city or there will be a backlash as big as for the SW Death Slice... I still think it is feasible, either in microscale or minifig scale, but it will cost at least 500 EUR (and hopefully more - the more expensive, the more complete it will be).
-
I beg to differ. Lothlorien could be beautiful and very appealing if done properly. Grey Havens is not such a minor location as it concludes the trilogy and it could look great too. There are already two sets on Moria (including the recent Balrog) so I don't think we will see that location again any time soon. A new bigger version of Helm's Deep would be welcome, although I am happy with the one I already have. I am personally hoping for Edoras as the next set after Minas Tirith.
-
Yes me too of course, I hope this leak is correct as I am really looking forward to getting this new version of Aragorn :-)
-
Indeed. For example Sauron is in the Barad Dur set although he only appears in the prologue of the trilogy with a full body. Very unlikely to happen. Sadly the LOTR theme is not as popular as the HP theme (at least according to Lego) and one or two sets per year is the most that we can expect (and not on the same location).
-
I really hope it is more expensive. 400 bucks is not enough for a decent Minas Tirith. Agreed.
-
We already have Helm's Deep ! So I don't think it should be a priority. But after TLG covers all the new locations mentioned above, I would welcome a new UCS version of Helm's Deep :-)
-
Indeed! After Minas Tirith, the sets I would love to get in priority are Edoras, Lothlorien, Grey Havens and Argonath.
-
This may be the most absurd comment I have ever read in this thread... so just to avoid the disappointment of some people, it is better not to do at all the set that so many of us LOTR fans have been waiting for so long? A Minas Tirith set in any form is better than no Minas Tirith set at all.
-
First of all just to clarify, my ''price does not matter'' policy only applies to LOTR sets, because of my undying love for this theme. Second of all, I seriously doubt that TLG is reading this thread :-)
-
Actually for me the excitement is mainly about the beauty of the white city, even if I will be happy to get some key minifigs too. I just hope it will be as big a set as possible to do it justice, the price does not matter. In any case I will buy it in whatever form it comes out, and will just MOC the missing parts it if needed.
-
Yes, I am quite hopeful that they will go with something like this. I think 5 levels would be enough for the white city to look decent.
-
I really hope they don't do that. I want a whole Minas Tirith, which will cost at least 800 bucks to be decent. But on the worst case if it is only partial I will just MOC the rest myself.
-
I find more justified to spend €1,000 on a great Lego set which I will keep forever than on the last iphone which will be obsolete in a few years :-)
-
The awful design of the new Star War Death Star 75419 makes me a bit worried... This is the first Lego set to reach the price of 1,000 bucks and they could not even make a proper product for this amount (for those who have not seen it, it is just a slice of Death Star instead of a sphere). I hope they will not continue on this trend. I am ready to pay 1,000 Euros for a full Minas Tirith, but not for just a slice of Minas Tirith...

Same here! We need a Lego sandworm :-)
-
I think that even if the book nook does not sell well, they will still make a few more big sets which have proven to be successful (starting with Minas Tirith next year hopefully).
