Car modificcations are okay, when they´re contemporary. But when I see that photo above, a classical Beetle with splitted rear windows, that is usually one of the most wanted cars for fans of vintage cars, foozled with such modifications... Would you also modify other classic cars like the 300SL Gullwing, the 23-windowed T1 Samba-Bus or a Jaguar E-Type? Modifications are okay, as long there are enough cars of that type left on the road, but not on collectibles.

If "California Style" means a lowered car with chrome rims and other modifications, I´m out of this... Vintage cars should be kept how they were assembled in factory, or restored as authentic as possible. It´s a sin, when vintage cars were damaged for "Hot Rods" or with modification in "Pimp My Ride" Style.

I´ve read about white stands with four golden stars on it, but some sources also talk about black standard stands. Lets just wait and see...

In Ebay you can pre-order the complete set starting from about 80€ (90$ / 53£). Thats not really cheap, but I think, it´s for many collectors the only way to get the full set without the risk of buying some twice...

I´d prefer a Beetle in a more pleasant color than white. I always liked the two-color scheme of the 10187 Set, but I´d also like a plain color if it is a more classical color. A classical Beetle with the pretzel-back-window and the smaller backlights would be great (even if I don´t believe in that).

Herbie... Weren´t the Herbie-movies produced by the Disney Company? And wouldn´t it be a great deal to produce a set with a car from a Disney-movie when you have an existing Disney-licence anyway? A frighteningly possible scenario in those times, isn´t it? Let´s hope we´ll get an unmodified VW Type 1

We also never got another olympic team, so i think the german soccer team will stay as unique as the GB olympic team.
-
This would be great, but I don´t believe in that. I guess, the main reason why we get the german team, is because Lego is now an official partner of the DFB (Deutscher Fußball-Bund = German Football Association). But I haven´t heard anything about partnerships with other Soccer associations. I don´t know the range of this partnership, but I don´t think it would be very conducive if they´d produce Minifigs of other teams. The european football championship starts already in a few weeks, if there were plans to make other national teams, we sure had heard something about that. In my opinion, it wouldn´t make much sense to release other teams when the EFC is over...

Even those too high emissions are still much better than all what came out of our cars 20 years ago. And it is not as if those emissions were too high for a generally registration of the car, it would just slide down to another tax class. The real scandal about Volkswagen is not about the emissions, it´s much more about the cheating they did. And those possibly deaths... There are so many possibilities for getting any form of cancer (including eating sausages), it´s impossible to assign it to one possible factor... Howsoever, the Volkswagen Beetle is an iconic car (with emissions values miles away from everything sold in the last 20 years) with many fans and collectors, that has nothing in common with Volkswagens actual problems. I still can´t see a real reason for NOT producing a new set. I just wonder, if it is really a 1:1 remake of the old set (10187), or if we´ll get a new designed set, maybe matching to the size of the T1 camper, Mini Cooper or Ferrari F40.

Hoped a little bit for grass-green base-plates, but white is also okay. I have to find a way to fix that balls in my display cases...

Maybe it´s just a try of Volkswagen, to raise their pupularity. On the other hand, why should Lego care about the emissions scandal of Volkswagen? It´s just about wrong emissions values, nobody died at it, so there´s no real reason to ban the Volkswagen brand out of children's rooms. I don´t think, Lego would produce an new Volkswagen set, if they weren´t sure to be able to dispose it. Just have a look at what prizes were paid for the original set (10187). Prizes about 900€ were not unusual for unopened boxes, even for used sets some people pay 300-500€ or more... Remakes of popular sets are also a good way to stop exaggerated reseller-prizes. I don´t want to know, how many of the more expensive sets were just bought to resell them with profit on Ebay.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
Mellow replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hmm, in some areas of Europe the time to masquerade just begins in a few days. Halloween is not everywhere as relevant as in the USA. Where I come from, Halloween is not more than the try of some sweets producers to make an extra money... Series 14 would have been more relevant to the next four weeks here. -

That´s not really surprising to me. Is is not unusual to start with production months before release date. And I think this also applies to most/all other Lego sets. In my opinion, it is very probably that Lego also startet to produce other today's new sets, so the early production date must not mean they had more production capacity that time. But I´m not saying that this is the only right explanation. Maybe Lego just expects better sales in America when starting in February. The markets in Europe and North America are too different to exclude that theory. -

I´ve read a few weeks ago, that the production capacity of Lego is running to the limit, because of christmas and the strong demand of the new star wars sets. Maybe they couldn´t produce enough of Series 15 to support the global markets simultaneously. Otherwise it could also be just a weird marketing tactic we can´t understand... -

In the european and australian Lego online shops they´re still listed on January 1st 2016. But they´re not available in the US or canadian online shops. Maybe there are different release dates for the american continent? Also interesting: Series 14 is listed as "sold out" in USA and Canada, but still available in Europe. -

How could Prince Charming be a Prince Charming in his own (or rather: in his parents) kingdom? I always thought the charming part means, that he´s trying to charm the princess of his interest. I don´t think he would charm his own sister. In this case he´s only a Prince Charming in other kingdoms (with other princesses), while he is only a normal prince in his home kingdom. And I think, the amphibian formerly known as Prince Charming must also come from far, far away. -

I don´t think they´re related. Prince Charming is usually someone, who comes from far, far away to save the princess from misery. And when that is done, they will marry and they all lived happily ever after. Hmm, as I write this, I wonder if the princess has ever been asked if she wants to marry the prince at all. Love at first sight must have been widely used at that time... -

If we´re talking about normal frogs in a normal world, you´re right. But in a fairy tale world you can´t throw a dead cat without hitting one or two princes. The big question is, why should Prince Charming carry a real life frog? Bon appétit. -

The Frog is included with Fairytale Princess from Series 12. It is her job, to to kiss the frog (or in some other versions: throw it to the wall), and transform it to Prince Charming. So, Prince Charming and the frog can´t appear together, because he IS the frog. -

I´m glad, that the Satyr is now officially called "Faun". Even if many say, that Fauns and Satyrs were the same, I don´t think so. Classical Satyrs in greek mythology were usually shown with parts of other animals (and other characteristics, that won´t be very good on a kid´s toy...). In greek mythology the god Pan is the one, who is described with goat legs, even in the tales about his birth. Otherwise, the roman counterpart of Pan is Faunus, who is also usually shown with goat legs and horns. So I think, "Faun" fits better to that Minifig than "Satyr". -

If we want to be accurate, we should also say, that satyr is completely incaccurate. The oldest illustrations of satyrs were shown with body parts of horses or donkeys - and usually human legs. The Minifig reminds me more to Pan, whose goat legs were mentioned already in the earliest tales about his birth. -

Even it doesn´t exist, it is a creature of greek mythology, and there it is a human body with the head of a bull. Dante was an italian poet in 13th century, and the illustrations the centaur-like minotaur were drawn by a french illustrator in 19th century. I don´t think that´s the best reference for anything like that. Series 6 Minotaur comes close to the illustrations, the old greeks made 2500 years ago. -

I´ve found what you´ve meant, and I agree with you. ( # ) It looks more than an extremely fat lady, or an alien snail queen or something like that... Maybe it would look better with an appropriate printing, or with the cape of S15´s Queen over that backside, but I fully agree now that the new dress piece is much better. -

A good instance for what I´ve meant. The old curved brick doesn´t look too bad as a skirt, especially with that ribbon on the backside. I agree with you, that the dress piece can be used for several court ladies that come in future. But I don´t think, it could replace the common sloped dress piece generally. A new dress piece with a base of 2x2, the height of standard legs and the larger leg pins would me more usable.
