  1. Sorry guys, fell asleep, exporting/uploading police pics now. ;)
  2. Thanks for the positive feedback, men. Police review up in under 2 hours, so stay tuned to this topic! Better quality pics for the coppers. ;)
  3. Fire Helicopter http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...irehelifull.jpg My least favorite of all the sets. Be prepared for serious bashing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...helicockpit.jpg Start with the cockpit - the cockpit is not airtight, and looks botchy and blocky. Very unsightly when closed. The inside is ok. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...ehelicannon.jpg The 'water cannon' - the perpetual stream of water annoys me, and makes it look fake. The cones should not have been doubled. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...annonturned.jpg A shot of the cannon turned and angled for fairness. Meanwhile, notice the horribly ugly cockpit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...rehelirotor.jpg An overhead shot, to view the horrendously <insert that tiresome argument> rotor. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...firehelifin.jpg The propellor that barely deserves a mention. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...firehelifig.jpg The figure; not so bad. Nothing against this dude. Overall rating: 6/10. Consider them pity points, with 1 true point for Fire Pilot Pedro. Fire Car http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...firecarfull.jpg An ok little set. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...firecarback.jpg The back of the ok little set. Notice hatchet and fire extinguisher. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo.../firecarfig.jpg The ok little minifig. Overall rating: 9/10. You pay for what you get, which isn't much either way. Fire Truck http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...retruckfull.jpg My favorite of all the City sets so far. This is a fully functional and perfectly designed set. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...retruckseat.jpg The standard driver's seat (you won't see any doors in the City sets, so I won't deduct points for the lack thereof). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...ckopenhatch.jpg The hatch now open, revealing a crate of accessories (hatches open into same compartment from both sides). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...edturntable.jpg Notice the stabilizers; as long as they are in the up position, the ladder cannot pivot. This is clever and realistic. Also note the fire hose, that pulls out to a good 8 inches or so. Haven't seen one of those in a while! The other side is not parallel - it has a hatch instead of a fire hose. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...tableturned.jpg The stabilizers on the ground - they don't touch the ground by a millimeter or so, but they look like they do. Now the ladder can turn! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...ladderlatch.jpg The next feature of the ladder is an ingenious lifting system. By lifting the ladder, the pole locks into the notches in the technic piece, causing it to stay in position. See next pic... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...latchlifted.jpg VOILA! Lifted ladder! Fire Chief Ferdinand shouts 'Happy day!' http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...rucktrailer.jpg A little mini-trailer included. Latches on via the typical trailer attachment, with a little 1x1 hook thing attached that swings down so it can stand freely. This must be lifted when attached to the fire truck. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...trailerfrnt.jpg Hatches open, and a shot of the life jacket - lovin' it! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...retruckfigs.jpg And, finally, the figures - the only set with Fire Chief Ferdinand! Overall rating: 10/10. Absolutely freakin' perfect. Fire Station http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationfull.jpg The fire station is a very good set. Not my favorite, and not as impressive as the police station. The pictures I've taken are a bit dim/fuzzy, since this was early in the morning. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationgate.jpg The garage is headed by a ladder acting as a gate, which is a bit flimsy (easily moddable to be sturdy). A control panel sits on the left, with a keypad. The fire emblem emblazoned on the top is indeed printed, one of the few designs that is in this series. The roof is functional, but not detailed. Notice the extra fire ladder attached to the side; this is easily attachable to the fire truck. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...onfrontdoor.jpg The right section is started off by a streetside display of weaponry and machinery (oops, says whoever designed this place). All the fire sets have TONS of little accessories like these. None of the pieces here are printed; all are stickers. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationpole.jpg The fire pole is probably my least favorite part of this set. It just looks awkward, and the bucket thing is unrealistic. Also here, notice the windows on the tower; two of the reverse-slanting windows side by side, and then one of those 3x6 trans-grey slopes on top, giving it a very stilted look. Again, I do not like this part of the set. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationback.jpg The back of the fire station is fairly uneventful. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationdesk.jpg Here's the inside of the front door, with a computer (you'll see a few of these in the City sets). Who knows why there's a front desk in a fire station... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...stationctrl.jpg And the other occupied room, what I call the watchtower. You've got your radar, keyboard, high-tech computer, and on the left, not really visible, a map of the city with a bright red ALARM on it. Pretty nifty room. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...ionbirdseye.jpg A birds-eye of the station for good measure... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...estationvan.jpg A nifty little fire van! It's got a few compartments and a standard driver's seat, with a little oddity in the back. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...tionvanback.jpg If you look on the bumper, you'll notice a little faucet there - perhaps to fuel the hose? We may never know... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v351/blo...tationmnfgs.jpg And the minifigures! I love the backpack system of the firefighters. Overall rating: 8/10, with points off for the stilted windows, the fire pole, and the lacking second story. Still, it's not as bad as I make it sound. GREAT SET! POLICE COLLECTION REVIEW: COMING VERY SOON!
  4. I've got my Fire Collection review completed, but the issue is, it has about 32 pictures. I can't post them all, or even half of them, in one post. Can an admin bend the rules or something?
  5. Some people *coughBIGBASEcough* post topics like 'Dinosaurs 2005!!' and it makes it look like he has something to share, and then he'll ask: 'Any news?'
  6. Well, at least this one didn't give us any false hopes! He was asking a question. :)
  7. Hey Tyranno! Great to see you made your way to our boards. Eurobricks mostly deals in leaked news/pictures, and we don't know any more than Brickset (they got the info from the boards ;)), so just watch the main page for any new info and you'll be all set! Enjoy your stay! :-D
  8. http://www.bricklink.com/PL/607p01.gif http://www.bricklink.com/PL/44336pb01.jpg QED.
  9. Reviving this thread for a few quick questions: Has anyone gotten this set? If so, are they the old greys or the bleys? Additionally, are the police/firemen/criminals/construction workers the same as the ones in the City sets? Hopefully I'll get some answers! :-D
  10. Yeah, Lost rules. Golden Globes are worthless anyway. OSCARS ALL THE WAY! Can't wait for those.
  11. I think it's fake. Look at the smudges extending around the question's words. That's probably from either a paintbrush or a smudge tool. I do professional web design and some graphic design, so this is pretty familiar to me. Still... OWNED! :P
  12. It'd be great if they kept the old tracks, but I want new trains - i.e. post-bley - for the Ultimate City display I'm going to build. ;)
  13. The head can be removed, with difficulty, but is not compatible (either way around) with other heads/torsos (except other light-up figs).
  14. You never know - we haven't seen road plates for the new City yet. Maybe we'll get something that'll accomodate the behemoth that is the Crane Truck!
  15. I'm having tons of fun posing the guys and stuff. Don't worry. Pictures are finished - everything from closeups of every room to a pic of the assorted extra pieces (including the NINE extra 1x1 2/3 slopes in trans-blue I got in the Prisoner Transport! :o ). I gotta say the Fire Truck is the best of the lot for sheer perfection, but I love both stations and the motorcycles are TONS better than I thought they would be!
  16. Alrighty, I got the Police Collection - except for the Police Car, which LEGO BACKORDERED on my behind (they told me it was available *devil* ). Pictures are almost finished for BOTH collections, and stuff should be up tonight (finally, sorry!).
  17. They've done 'jungle' - the Aztec/Mayan one - and they've done dinosaurs - dino island - so now we're getting dino jungle? What's that all about? I hope it has nothing to do with dinosaurs. I agree - tigers, lions, monkeys, parrots.
  18. I want a regular train under the City logo, not World City (old colors, right? Plus, it's <insert that tiresome argument>). And I EXPECT one, because trains aren't in the new bleys yet, nor are train tracks, and they have to get that market going fast. And it'll be under City because, well, trains are City. I still need a train, and I love City. COME ON LEGO! :D
  19. Yeah, whatever happened to that thing? I liked it. Anyone have the proto pic still? I lost it.
  20. He doesn't look enemy-ish. Spotfrog, you look like a fine young Bionicle lad, are you interested in purchasing some old sets? :D
  21. I think a good way to avoid 'giant blocky wings' while still having 'giant wings' would have been to do them in sections with hinges at the edges, so you could curl them and curve them and stuff. But noooo... instead we have pancake wings.
  22. Sometimes I'm shipped catalogs from earlier months when they come in S@H boxes, so I don't know... I wouldn't count on it.
  23. They're not strange, they're <insert that tiresome argument> to a ghastly level. If they're going to make new dragon pieces, they should at least make them in MANY pieces.
  24. I think it's a bit MUCH. I predict it'll have around 220-250 pieces. That big bucket in the back sends the cost flying, though. My predicted (and so far true) costs: Construction Set (crane, grinder, truck, etc) - $40 Crane Truck (crane on a truck, duh) - $50 Mine Truck (the big truck this topic is on) - $30 Excavator (shovel thingy) - $20 Lots of construction costs! :|
