What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Lord Valgor replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hey guys, I was just wanting to start a thread (and maybe a Poll later) on this topic: Which official Lego Starfighter is your favourite one, and why? (eg 6207 A-Wing, 9493 X-Wing, etc) as far as limitations go, I am only including Starfighters. So no capital class ships (though I think that one will be my next post :P). I would have to say that the 7259 ARC-170 is so far my favourite, with my recently acquired 7180 B-Wing coming in second. -
Found a Republic Frigate (7964) today, and it was on sale for $74. I went ahead and picked it right up. Anyone else think I got a good deal? I am not so much a fan of the new clone wars genre so it is mulling about in my head still :P

Thanks! Lol, I hear ya. Every time I come home (I'm away for college most of the time) I have to take it out and look at it for a few minutes. It is a truly magnificent ship. Also, that sounds really cool about the Queen Anne's, you should definitely post some pics when you get it finished! I have wanted to modify it in some way, but right now I am low on matching pieces I think. I am also working on making my own Skull's Eye Schooner from scratch, so that really cuts into pieces as well. As for the bow, I mostly just added some pieces that keep the deck portion together, then I connected the bow's keel (not sure what that should be called, anyone know?) to the rest of the ship so that it wouldn't just fall off causing the whole thing to crash. I also think I did something to the two SNOTy sections, but when I took it apart, it didn't look any different. I feel like I remember there being a place to put them, that was like 1 stud away from what the instructions said, that was way more sturdy and didn't mess with the look or how they fit, but I could just be imagining things. I'll try and add some photos in not too long.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Lord Valgor replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Recently got the Queen Anne's Revenge as a gift. Pretty nifty ship, but I think my favourite part is the blood red sails Also, if I may ask, I notice many of you are getting some pretty good deals. Is there a magic website that I don't know about? Or are you guys just watching and snatching up all the good deals on ebay and BL? -
Thanks! I am particularly proud of the Balcony as it (IMO) compliments the ship. I really should take a picture of the whole ship with all the improvements... I didn't because I ran out of room in my photo area :P
-
Haha, ya that is probably true. But with that idea I was trying to add the front and rear facing cannons that many larger ship of the line's had in those days. The only way to do it in such a small space (that I could think of) was to make them swivel mounted. I also added bracers so that they don't flop around while sailing :P But I do agree that realistically those would never work, but hey that is what imagination is for :D

Ya, as I mentioned with the picture the crows nest was something that I think I could do a lot better. I had quite a few problems with it though, for example I had to "lower it" (why it has two levels) and raise the flag just to make it accessible... That and I was running out of matching pieces too :P Thanks for your input, I will dabble with those ideas. Anyone else have some suggestions? Glad you like it for the most part though!

Hey guys, dunno if this is interesting to any of you but I figure'd I would post this. I recently took some pics of the Mods I made on my Imperial Flagship (10210) and uploaded them to Flickr. Nothing serious, just some minor "tweaks" to make it "better" IMO. Some things I added/changed: A Balcony on the back of the Stern Castle A Crows Nest Fixed the Explosive SNOTy section Completely remade the Kitchen A Rowboat Swivel-mounted Deck Cannons Mounted Muskets Other things Here is a link to my Flickr Set. Descriptions are with the pictures. Anyways, I would greatly appreciate any input on my modifications! Thanks!

I recently noticed and posted in the Castle Review Index about a "mess up". The "King's Castle" under Knights Kingdom II is actually the review for "King Leo's Castle" (6098/6091) of the Knights Kingdom I series. In addition to that, the Knights Kingdom II series is missing its castle which is the "Castle of Morcia" (8781). Anyways, just thought I would let you all know here and there to make sure someone sees it lol.

Thanks for the review Master. You just reminded me that I own this set! I just added it to my peeron inventory Anyways, thanks again for the great review.

Imperial Flagship (10210) Imperial Trading Post (6277) Black Seas Barracuda (6285) Skull's Eye Schooner (6286) Imperial Flagship (6271) Unfortunately I only own two of these sets (10210 & 6271), but I want the others so bad. Anyways, these are my top 5. Can't wait to see what other people choose.

I didn't go all out on my bow for two reasons, one I want the look of my Flagship to not be "interrupted" so to say, and two I needed all the space I could get for other things I added. I did however, successfully re-enforce the bow and I could send you pictures when I have the chance if you like. The first and foremost thing that TLC did wrong (I am a structural engineer so hopefully I can say that they did it wrong ) was with the keel of the bow. It is hard to explain but basically the post/mast that supports the jib sail from above is not connected to the keel they were separate. So I combined and secured those. The other big thing was the SNOT things on the bow. They aren't that bad, but one thing must occur to make them stable. Take off the 2x3 flat tan pieces that are closest to the bow the ones that are closer to the hull on both of the SNOT constructions can stay, and should stay as they will help. Those are the two biggies, and I did a few other things but not much. Anyways, I hope this helps, doubt it will though I am probably too confusing.

Thanks for the advice, it was 40 dollars, and the seller says that the pieces are in very good condition. The seller has only one negative feedback and it was in the 12 month range so I am pretty trusting, but hopefully not too trusting Also, if I may ask, how does dust harm lego? I know that the sun can damage the bricks by turning (especially the older legos) them orange and yellow, but I have never heard of dust "damaging" lego pieces. Anyways, thanks again, I am really hopeful and excited to finally get this set! I have been wanting it for a long time now lol.

Hello all, I recently just ordered the 6271 Imperial Flagship (the one from 1992) off of BL for $40. It is missing "two sails, the minifigs, and the coins" but "the parts are in very good condition." I guess I am wondering if anyone else thinks this was a good deal. I personally have always wanted this ship as it has a slight nostalgia for me, but I won't bore you with the details. As for the minifigs, I like the new redcoats a lot more and have plenty to spare, as well as cannons if need be. Anyways, lemme know what you all think, and as soon as I get it I will let you all know what I think for sure Thanks. PS also, if anyone who owns the set wishes to tell me some things to be aware of, I won't mind at all. In the mean time I am going to go see if we have a review of that ship around here...

Expansion of the Roman Empire
Lord Valgor replied to castlestrike666's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That is really well done! I really really like how detailed it is, but it's not overly complex or has too much stuff. Excellent! Also you should play a Brikwar on that MOC It would be awesome lol. -
I think you also should have mentioned that only 8 of the 12 cannon flaps can actually have cannons behind them. That combined with the fact that there are only three cannons really disappoints me. Overall I don't like the ship too much, but if I get it as a gift, I wouldn't complain lol.

Ok Sweet thanks! I think I get it now lol. To be honest though, it does look like the sword is in the wrong side of the openning... But then again I don't own it so I wouldn't know lol Anyways, thanks again guys, I think the piece is awesome and I like it better than the BF ones, but right now it is about $5 per piece on BL and I need at least 20 of em so no way I am getting any of those soon.... I guess I'll just have to wait until people on BL find out how to get them in bulk just like everything else... lucky dogs...
-
Thanks, this is very helpful, and nice to know. What do you mean "hilt is facing the surface"? Which surface? Could you maybe post a picture? Thanks again guys, I am really liking the piece but I just want to make sure it is all I want it to be before I buy a bunch for my troops

Hey I was just wondering if some of you smarter gents out there could answer me a few questions about one of the new pieces in the PoTC sets. The sword sling hasn't really been touched on, and I have a few questions. I guess I'm asking an owner of the London Escape or other sets with the sling in it, if they could tell me what it is made of? Is it rubber or plastic? How well does it stay on and how well does it work? Do you like that piece? In addition to that, I was wondering if BrickLink sells the piece yet. I can't find it, but I am terrible at finding anything except for minifigs on that site lol. In the end it's going to come down to price for me, because I know that BrickForge makes them too, and that they are rubber (which I think I would prefer). But I figured I would ask beforehand. Anyways, thanks in advance.

Ya I did the math, but compared to other sets from the previous wave Outpost: 10.3 Castle: 10.7 Showdown: 11.4 Prison Tower: 13.6 Jester: 15.9 Prison carriage rescue: 20 I seem to be noticing overall higher prices last wave, without many interesting or special pieces. I guess it's just me that thinks they are better deals lol I will admit that the carriage is drastically overpriced, and unless I get it as a gift from someone or I find it for half that price, it wont make it into my collection...
-
I honestly cant believe that lego actually released such a "good deal" (IMO) on the Blacksmith Attack set. it definitely isn't the best out there as far as price per piece but its pretty darn good and it has unique items and 2 minifigs! If the carriage set was $20 cheaper, then I would be absolutely amazed. Oh and does anyone know the official retail price of the "Mill Village Raid"? TRU has it listed as $70, so I assume that will be it, but other sources are saying $50! I would be psyched if it were that cheap :D

Just thought I would mention that there is a "mess up" in the list. 16 more Imperial Soldiers (Yellow Skinned Redcoats) and 4 officers to go with! My small army is amassing... Oh and I got the Kings Castle too... -
Kings Castle (Kingdoms)! I got it for about 20% off, figured that was good enough as any. It's my first set of the new Kingdoms, and I want to get more. Unfortunately though I am now dirt poor again since I also just bought another 16 Imperial Soldiers and 4 Officers to go with...

I'm pretty sure that the British is referring to the Peach skinned redcoats, and the Red Coats is referring to the Yellow skinned. Basically, do you like the PoTC Red Coats, or the Lego Red Coats better?
