  1. ...but he has a pointy hat - you can't take seriously guy with a pointed hat. You just can't :)
  2. this is great idea, I will try to scribe something out - we Drow are so magnificent that using only words is hard to describe us, but... I will try. We are, a Drow, after all :)
  3. That is because you are intruding. Flies intrude, Nocturnias conquer! The only situation that this is fine to say is this: you conquered half of Avalonia, sent a bunch of them to work as slaves in the mines, and then one fine afternoon you go down into the shaft of the mines, tap one of this green-lovers on the shoulder while they are digging and say: "Sorry to intrude, you fine men, but I wanted to ask you a question or two. Do not worry, it will be short, and you will be able to go back to jour job in a minute!" ;) Drow rule supreme! :)
  4. THIS IS unbelivable-freaccking-fantastic! BRAVO! I am astonished :) this is best Drider that I've seen made of lego :) Hat down for you, my friend;) I love the atmosphere here ;)
  5. Nope, I do not think that you have to break them, there is a whole for them in every side... (I've bought that armor without wings, but I am 100% that they are detachable) Look: They have that green extension (on the right of this picture) that goes into the whole in the armor. That hole is the same as other holes, and inside you can fit a normal lego bar (I've fitted those plums inside without problems)
  6. I particularly like that golden line of round plates 1x1 ;)
  7. great idea, especially the stairway ;) cmon my guild-brothers&sisters, join the conversation ;) How to make our evil cities more celestial, with colors at hand?:)
  8. Wow, that's a great moc :) But, sadly, I can not do that. Luna Ilirijana, my new moon keep will be so massive, that it will have to have a flat base. It's weight would crush anything else, and something that is not flat, like baseplate would make a great momentum of force to the highest point of castle (well, I know how to say it on my language, "moment inercije", (maybe "moment of inertia"?) meaning that the greater the angle, the bigger the force. I will order some white bricks from the bricklink, it will not be much, around 35e, and it will be enough for all the clouds. But this requires time, and I already started building :) I will make clouds with flat bottom and flat up surface, and the castle will "fit in" at the end ;) Actually, there will be three great buildings on clouds, connected with bridges, and I plan the greatest and the longest one I've built yet ;) And in Menzoberranzan I've made a bridge that was more then half a meter long, holding itself with only four studs ;) Check the pictures ;) --- But with this castle, I will have a great problem - how to make buildings not "Drow-like"? I only have bricks that I have, the ones I use in all of my mocs, black and red... How to make it more "celestial"? I will use heavilly water, and I will try to cover all of flors with orange cheese slopes mosaics, but that will not be enoughf, I think... Any suggestions?
  9. A celestial castle for challenge 3 - this is part of the entrance floor in front of the castle, as an entrance to the angel-park. I really do not know how this will turn out, deva city made of red bricks, and I keep in my rights to change the story (and city:) into something evil :)))) Notice her golden crown, robe with collar, wings and praying hands :) (particularly proud of:) If I get my hands onto few white bricks, the whole castle will be on a cloud. If not... well, we will have to use our imagination ;)
  10. Just to be clear again, those castles are made by [bob Carney, as suggested in the text above ;) (expt last one which is mine:)
  11. well... join now! :) Or, if you joined some other guild, defect now! :) Come to the Drow city, we are the most peaceful and pleasant elfish race that exists, and there will be a lot of fun things to do here ;) Just write "I am coming to the Drow" and it will be done ;) well, I do not know, to tell you the truth... Today I will grab few hours of building, and we will see... I would like to build it on a cloud and I've been thinking about that a lot, but all the white bricks that I have are used in that small cloud from Llurth Dreir, and although it has been dissembled, I could not cover large area, especially if it is going to have random "cloud" look... On the other hand, I could use it as a "rock", cloud would be seen only here and there, in fragments... Also, I could use the whole surface of the table, put baseplates around the castle and cover them with white plates (which I also do not have :))), and simulate surface of the cloud, and put soldiers fighting there. It would look fantastic, especially if I put few of them sinking in :) And for this castle, I am going to aim at "big picture" something like this (made by Bob Carney): And I am going to incorporate a detailed scene inside showing crystal hunt. If I want the castle to be recognizable and with impact on the first look, I can not go into much details while building. On the outside :) But inside, I can do what ever I want :) I am going to try to meld those those things together - big in big scale, and interesting in small, i.e. up close... On the other hand, I would like it to have this kind of look: (remember Ched Nasad?)
  12. I do not know if you know this legend, but it is said that the fire crystal is pride possession of an unnamed force, who is jealously keeping it from the eyes of the nocturnians. Simple enough, isn't it? Drow have spies everywhere, and it should have been an easy task finding it. But all the efforts, all the bribes, and scary threats, promises of riches, slavery and horror or power went without an answer, and Drow were, for the first time, in the dark, but not literary :) So, they used magic, summoned demon by, demon, but nobody new. At the end, they turned to the side of light, and started asking there. And the answer was more then strange: there was a celestial presence in nocturnus, hidden from the eyes of the wicked, and they used fire crystal as decoration for something (statue perhaps? Or an altar? The source did not know). We will not say more. It took us months and dozens of captured and interrogated light-lovers, scripting with magic and random poking, but we finally found the celestial city! And Valsharess herself led and army besieging the walls. ...but she was just a decoy. An experienced, small party found its way inside of the castle walls, and while the angels are distracted, fighting, the crystal is unguarded... Or is it? ---- Just a little something about the city I am going to build. I've decided to go in the opposite direction, and try to build something heavenly - but with red and black bricks (hm...:) It should be tall, slim, but not scary... The problem is - I do not have much green, or white or any color except black and red :) Like my girl said it: "anyone can build angel church with white bricks - only a true artist can do it with red and black" - we shell see :) Few of my celestials;) note: there will be others in the city ;)
  13. "Black elves" - he's my type of guy ;)
  14. FINALLY! We are doing bad things and we are rewarded for that! Heaven for the Drow! :) Let's burn some city, we might win a battlepack ;) You know, for a right reward, we could raise the number of slaves in the mines, although we do not need them. ...what are we saying, there could never be enough of the slaves :) silly us ;)
  15. Damn, I've missed this... There should be a thread with all important happenings listed (maybe with dates?), and index should have small thumbnails (but that is such a big job, who would do it? about 24 of working hours, for making thumbs and coding page...) But Drow do not care who will rule, at the end, Drow will rule all (supreme:))
  16. Skyrim :) First one even more ;) And for the worm riders, great idea ;)
  17. x - Avalonians - love green, morning and spring; feather, leaf and water; arrow, elf and nature x - Mitgardians - love white, evening and winter; beards, snow and rock; axe, dwarf and crafting x - Nocturnians - love red, night and fall; horn, lava and fire; hammer, demon and power x - Kaliphlins - love tan, day and summer; turban, sand and wind; sword, human and wealth
  18. Remember that funky-looking curtain from my room, that you could see behind my mocs (the one with roses, the one that you liked so much because it was all that Drow are not:) Well, I've replaced her with new one: At a desk you can see remains of the see floor from Mirage dragon moc :) ( so there is some lego in the picture:)))
  19. Tnx, but I was talking trough a joke, as I was blogged few times by TBB, and I was bit sarcastic with buying, cheating, scaring and charming my way into TBB :) Talking trough fun note. I love to build big, I really enjoy it ;) as you can see by my mocs ;) And I have only one condition: the moc (and minifigs) have to be playable. Other than that, everything goes ;) I am also very vein, I love everything I make ;) But the problem that is real is that my big moc pictures can not show all the details, and detailed photos can not show the grandiosity of the whole thing, and it is completely true that the pictures do not always have that "first impact" that I've talked about. My most popular moc was, without a doubt is Ched Nasad, but I would say that it is not, by far, the most beautiful or most complex or even most detailed castle I've made :) But, the photos were done with better camera :) 3 simultaneous flashes, wide lances, etc... But thank you for the passionate response, and every single advice is a sound one, that should be used. I kind of liked others to notice me without me yelling :)))))) And at the end, thank you for the nice words and praise :) So, if I do not get blogged, I will conquer the world with my Drow, and then we will see who was nice with me and send me bricks from PaB, and who did not blog me :) Firstly, thank you for those kind words :))) It really feels satisfying and wonderful when good things are recognized :) And second, you are absolutely right - red and black are SO hard to express, especially because I use no postproduction on pictures (never had an opportunity to learn how). But, there was an opportunity to get a bunch of bricks in only two basic colors, and there were a lot of arches, slopes and inv slopes in red and black, being also the cheapest, and I went that way ;) If my job brings me more money, I will try to buy dark red and white (also, there is a GREAT deal for 10.000 yellow 1x2 that I might take:)) Also, keep on mind that all the bricks that I have are in the mocs :) almost 95% of them ( I never use tires, but I could try making some flowers next time ;) But I must say, the mocs look so much better in person, and people might like them trough pictures, but they love them on lego exhibitions. ... I also like trans green, and that is another color that is pain in the neck to take picture of :) Again, tnx for the wonderful words :) A bunch of very useful photography tips! Thank you! I will think about this things, and try to inform myself more about the gimp (downloading!:) and saturation. A lot of important and potentially mood changing info in your points, and I will have to study them further, with little help from google ;) And for scale, I will use a girl ;) I've noticed that you (all of you:) like that the most ;) Thank you for nice words about building and style ;) ----- Niku, you are right, and I've started, shy for the first time, taking a short movie of the Mirage Dragon ;) ----- I will save all three msg, from all three of you, and come back to them later in building. Let's hope that Drow will shine in their true (dark) light! :)
  20. I have a problem with my mocs: when I build high and big, it seams that the one main picture of the moc, the "promo" picture, does not look that appealing, because of the bunch of details and its sheer size... It does not "strike" at the first look (check out Siercon&Coral's faerie flowers), so I always had a choice - build big, but without so much details where some simple patterns will look great on far-away pictures (Like Bob Carney type of castles), or build small, but detailed (like Luke (Derfel)). (I never used that, I am building big & detailed, but then it lacks that "first impact" where you fall in love with the moc on a first glimpse) Maybe, for this challenge, I could differ a little - tall buildings, few meters tall, but simple in construction, and in the middle detailed (swamp, for example), where all the action is. I don't know, but I think that my mocs are different and interesting, yet they do not attract any more attention except in historica subforum, and blogs do not pick it up for display (for example, I was almost 100% sure that Lith My'athar is going to attract attention, but id didn't... I also tried to buy, scare, steal, charm my way in on TBB with this, but they are simply stone-made bunch, those bloggers :) ) ...what do you think?
  21. You live in Hungary? You have a TON of good bricklink sellers, like Fedibeka You also have "second hand shops" for bricks (like on in Segedin), and you also have parts on the market (real market, where you can buy food, vegetables, fruits etc) that sell lego on kg ("please, give me 350g of plates" :) <--- really ;) in Budapest. Ask around ;)
  22. yup, I am trying to make all of my mocs and especially minifigs to be compact and stabile, so they can be played with :) Btw, I haven't used black light ;) (do not even own it:) it is a simple (and pretty cheap) halogen blue light :) for some reason, it flares up neon trans orange and green, but does nothing else (white is still white, without glow) - check my flickr account (link is at my signature at the bottom of every post) ahaha and about HYMYM ;) warez-BB is my best friend ;) I download what I get my hands on ;) whaaaaaaat?:)) Deceased Biglbi used to smile to the Drow, and look at him now ;) -------- I like to put pictures in all my posts ;) few of the minifigs from this moc:
  23. For some reason pictures reminded me of Baldur's Island, from Baldur's Gate II game (expansion) ;)
  24. magical ;)
