  1. I love the party in the back ;)
  2. what a great 4 arm torso! :) How did you do it?:)
  3. Well, I've been building like crazy last three days, but it does not seems that I've got so much to show... those cheese slope mosaic windows are real pain in the neck, and there are more then 64 windows at the moment, and I fear it is not nearly the half that would be. I had to find a way to hold them together when staying vertical, and the magic number is 9 bricks and arch on them, and one plate beneath the slopes. Perfect combination, but I will elaborate more later. Otherwise, every move - and one of the windows falls down... You can get impression of size by noticing minifig in the lower part of the picture Little of the water summoning
  4. fantastic :)
  5. things are a little quiet ;) Defences should be ready, something's cooking in other guilds, we can feel it
  6. this could mean more PaBs and more bricks in PaBs ;)
  7. little update, with pool and glass terrase ;)
  8. I played Diablo I in friends basement in 1996 (something like that:) ;) I could play it only after midnight, because that was the only pc in neighborhood, and that was the only time it was free; I had a robust headset and played it so laud with locked doors; one night I forgot to lock, and a friend came at about 3 after midnight and called, but as I did not answer, he grab me for my shoulder... imagine that ;) It was my best game (and I didn't like Diablo II at all, not similar atmosphere) until I found Baldur's Gate, and at first, I was like this: "WHAT? Pause? During the game? C'mon, this will be so easy" :) :) I've mentioned this few times, all my mocs are Baldur's Gate, AD&D related ;)
  9. I love his face when he kneels in front of the helmet ;) Magic crystals are nothing comparing to magic helmets ;) And again, it is almost the same as "Baldur's Helm" from Baldur's Gate, a helm that Balduran wore when he fought werewolves on the island of Balduran :) (I've mentioned this in one of the posts before on this thread)
  10. thank you, my friends ;) Makeup usually comes at the end, when I build such a alrge-scale castles, because of my archenemy no. 1 - dust :) update: and angel-insignia, that is recurring all over the castle. Can you spot it on the pictures above?:)
  11. I feel some reversed psychology here ;) Do you think it will work on Drow? ...ok, it will work :)) It's a pity I used all gold I have on rooftops for challenge 3 :) Btw, the days are just disappearing, even those 12+ days wont be enough :) megamegablokssss (<--literary:)):)
  12. great atmosphere
  13. my personal choice ;) but I would suggest that you buy them via bricklink, and hammer a good price via e-mails with the seller, they like to bargain :) Edit: oh, he said that also :)_ bah :) then I've got nothing new to add :)
  14. My fellow guildsman, What do you think, what would be the cheapest way of buying larger quantities for leaves? Color is not important :) If you would say directly from Lego, I would ask for numbers ;) If you say bricklink, I've check, the cheapest seller with large quantities has the price of 0.19e/ piece. It is too much, for, let's say 1000 pieces. If you would say PaB (personally I can't think of a better idea), I would like to know how much leaves of this kind can fit in one cup and in which shops there are supplies of the, anywhere in the world :) Hey :) Thank you ;)
  15. uh, that is not my girlfriend, and if my girlfriend reads this, she will have both of our heads (mine and yours:), and she will care less that it is a Drow head;) you can find her on my flickr account, down in my signature ;) And she does not like lego at all! I had this conversation yesterday (she calling me on the phone) She: What are you doing? Me: um... looking some girls in bikinis online... She (angry): Do not lie, you are looking at lego sites, admit it! :) aaand she was right :)
  16. New update ;) The first tower (watchtower) is finished; the only thing that is missing is bridge, which goes to those black arches and floors, which are made of cheese slope mosaics, I've made one as prototype, and it will be miracle if it survives until 1st May ;) few tips when building cheese slopes mosaics: - never blow dust from them :) - never watch "Star Trek" while building, you will forget yourself and turn it around - never ask a non-lego-playing friend to pass it to you, or to move it to another desk - never give it to the non-lego-friendly-girlfriend, they have fast fingers and uncanny ability to touch the foundation slope :) - vacuum clean before you start building ;) - always have a ready toothpick :) - always build them at the end, except when you have good focus ;) By the way, this tower is built on a 48x48 baseplate, and it is a 1.5 m high (more or less:))
  17. :) As a Lloth is a spider queen, and she is adored by most of the Drow, that is why there are so many spiders in my Drow cities ;) and unfortunately, there won't be a black head in series 8, as much as I am aware :( But it is ok, Gamadon's head is black, but I still prefer plain black
  18. Typically Avalonian;) How we did not conquer you 100 years ago, I will never know ;)
  19. New update ;) And the castle, maybe I'll should remove those "shark mouth" ornaments? In any case, I will make a bridge using that way of arranging bricks :) Can't wait ;)
  20. great job ;) spooky, scary, interesting and smart - a real nocturnian story ;) with great mocing :)
  21. Certainly ;) We Drow like to expose our beauty for the surfacers ;) (on the right moc picture: monifig to the left, my purist representation of Drow from the left picture; on right, same Drow, with custom parts) link to the real life costume of Drow male (btw, in every first post of all my threads with Drow cities you can find two links in the first sentance, one leading to the Drow wiki describing Drow, and second leading to the name of that city, also on wiki ;) Link to the Drow on wiki Here's the list of some of the Drow cities, you can find names of some of my moc Drow cities, with explanations here you can find a bunch of really interesting Drow pictures. But I've rewritten few of those explanations, actually, I've invented new ones for mocs, without interfering with the basic characteristics of Drow There are few notable and famous Drow: Drizzt Do'Urden Viconia DeVir Valsharess Lloth actually a god, but deeply connected with the Drow link The story of how I became a Drow... :) But to tell you the truth, ALL of my inspiration comes form the Baldur's Gate I and II games, and it's sisters Icewind Dale I and II and Neverwinter Nights; I've got my hands on many red bricks, basic colors of bricks were cheaper then grey, orange, green, but red and black had arches and slopes cheep in the same color, so I've chosen them. The decision that I come to regret in first attempt of building, because red is such a strong color, and you can not see anything in black. And my parents once visited me and asked: "must you always build such a dreadful castles?" So... I wanted to leave mark in lego community, to be recognizable on the first look, and the first castle I've made was so.... well - evil :)I was holding a black minifig head in my hands and remembered Drow from Baldur's Gate two, and decided to go that way. I loved how they were presented in that game, and also, there was a "dark-skinned elf" in actually my only book that was really popular in Serbia, and because I wrote about her, I knew that I could infuse my minifigs with enough character to be interesting to the lego community. Not to mention how I enjoyed build them :) Then I've go an interesting deal: I could choose 15.000 bricks of only one basic color between red, black, blue and yellow for only 80e + 10 for shipping, and I've chosen red. That is what sealed my Underdark castles. If I ever got chance for something similar, I will buy white. Here you can see some other Drow cities from me: Lith My'athar Menzoberranzan Ched Nasad Ust Natha Chaulssin Eryndlyn Maerimydra Twisted Tower of Ashaba Ruined temple of Shar Rilauven outpost in Mitgardia Llurth Dreir You can also find literary hundreds of my Drow minifigs with their traals folowing links found in Drow thread The Drow rule supreme! :) And I think it is a time we launch a war against all surface walking creatures, but first, we must obtain more power in our guild and enslave or alliance all of the Nocturnus guild members ;) I will make few notes for new thread, named "WAR", but I would also like to build something nice for challenge 3, so the WAR may be on hold. For now ;)
  22. Are you defying the Drow? You say that Drow are wrong? But Drow are never wrong, and so - we are right :) Now remind us where were you exactly in Historica, we are sending a little icy bitsy riding party to have a little talk with you :)
  23. I do not think that the judges will care :) use any crystal you have, and we will use our imagination ;) I do not think that colors are rule, just... guiding line :) so the story looks complete :) No one will make a fuss about the wrong color, if you are not in a position to acquire it :) :) The Drow rule with kindnes!
  24. ...but you have such a cheap sellers in your country? I usually buy from Germany, when I have a chance for buying - a little higher prices then in USA, but saves a ton of money on shipping (I am from Europe to)
  25. well... I;ve used up a half of hour writing this post for thread: "A guide to tree building", but now it seems it disapeared... I will post it here, and if it was moved, this post could be to, I suppose... if not, there are few links to the "building how to" :) here's an article from Antony Sava: link, named: "Creating trees and foliage" here's an instruction from Monteur: link, named: "Trees" and, talking about articles that could help you while building, here you can find all of these: Buildings - Advanced Tudor Style Instructions by Lenny Hoffman - Model Castle Openings by Lenny Hoffman - Avoiding the "Big Gray Wall" Syndrome by Bruce N H - Castle Wall Offsets by Ben E. - Medieval interiors by ? - pdf file - Stained glass windows by Bruce N H - Stained glass - using slopes by Jim - Towers 101 by Eggy (Eggplant Wizard) - on MOCpages - Round Tower Techniques by John Boozer (jediknight219) - on MOCpages - Curved Amphitheater's Walls by Krazy Kastle Krak Guy (K3G) - on MOCpages Environment - Creating trees and foliage, not just for deities any more by Anthony Sava - Building a landscape by DNL and SlyOwl - Building a landscape - Grass-scaping by SlyOwl - Waves by Bruce N H - Waterfalls 101 by Eggy (Eggplant Wizard) - on MOCpages - Rocks 101 by Eggy (Eggplant Wizard) - on MOCpages - Palm tree by Eggy (Eggplant Wizard) - on MOCpages - Trees by Monteur - on Brickshelf Creatures - Brick Built Beasts 1 - Mundane animals by Bruce N.
