It is a age of strife. The all out war between de Galactic Federation and the Earth Empire leaves the galaxy in shatters, alien races take the opertunity to expand their own empires and renegades carve out their own pieces of space. Pirates attack any undefended colony or starship that crosses their path. The largest of these pirate factions is 'The Conglomerate', having conquered a large section of space and several worlds they are a force to be reckoned with. The leader of The Conglomerate is a former Federation Navy officer named Anton Ragnid. Having been horribly mutilated when his cruiser was attacked he was dissalusioned with the way the war was going and turned renagade picking up deserters and mercanaries as he carved his way to the top. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/BasOne/LDD/Pirates/anton_ragnid.lxf The mainstay of The Conglomerate ffighter forces is somewhat of an oddity. The FFC-23 Moth is an ancient Federation design not used by the Federal Navy for over 400 years. They were however mass produced in vast quantities making spare parts and complete craft readily available on any junk planet in the galaxy. It's modest cargo hold and formidible weaponry make it a favorite amongst pirates, though it's lack of schielding and light armour make it more of a deathtrap when going against any of the newer Space Superiority Fighters. It's dual laser blasters, dual laser cannons and 12 ion cannons make it a formidible fighter against slow moving starliners or space stations, it;s ion cannons capable of rapid fire knocking out systems and setting even the largest starcruisers adrift making them an easy prey for boarding ships. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/BasOne/LDD/Pirates/pirate_raider.lxf Comments, crits and general chit chat welcome Trying to create a universe here with different factions, a backstory, and stuff, so crits are not only welcome, but needed Currently working on: The Conglomarate, Pirate Faction Earth Empire, Lucky Number Seven Dragon Knight Soon to be started: Galactic Federation. A soon to be further defined alien faction.

Is still going? It's been quiet..... -
Great review of a great ship, i might have to get this one. You mention a bomb storage, does that mean there is a bomb dropping mechanism as well?
-
Most impressive. I hope you can keep to your count of 12k bricks for the entire ship, but as i read what you are planning (6 hangars.. really?) you might go way over that mark. Especially if you're going to do an interior of the entire ship. I found when building such a large vessel it's better to do it in sections. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55057 (And i'm allready sketching a design that's even bigger ) Good luck, and i'll keep watching this

Nothing can be completely removed from the internetz

All true, i just expected a lot more from The Pearl as it's such an iconic ship of the series. When you think Pirates of the Caribean, You think Jack Sparrow first, The Black Pearl second. To be honest, i was/am not a real pirates collector, but the QAR and the Imperial Flagship just looked so darn good i just had to have them :P So i might be a bit spoiled by 2 great sets
-
804 pieces 200 less then the QAR, 800 less then the Imperial flagship. To be honest, The Pearl should be the flagship of the POTC line, not just another ship.....
-
Looking at the picture i'm really dissapointed. The Pearl is such an iconic ship it should be more in line with the Imperial Flagship. The thing that really bugs me are the sails, they look new and shiny, The Pearls sails are ragged and full of holes, they just look to new to be the pearl. Not to mention it's.... small... tiny even. TLG really dropped the cannonball with this one.

Looks fantastic But it might look better with forward swept wings.... allthough i admit, i have a 'thing' for forward swept wings

At first i was almost jumping through te roof, heck yeah an SSD *does a little dance* After seeing this, i''m like... meh... Well if you won't i will, it just looks horrible, from a set this big and this pricy i expect a lot more accuracy. They got the slope right with the ISD hiding the stand connections inside the ship, they could have done that with the SSD too, and do the primary and secondary hangar bays. They missed alot of detail on the bottom, and that's just a shame. I think they got the tail end enterily wrong too by the way... With a model this big, such a small representation of the bridge with Darth and the bounty hunters looks really silly in my honest opinion, a litte bit further up the superstructure, like underneath the tower, and there would have been room enough to leave the figures inside the ship when closing it up. The figures are really not that intersting with a set like this, it''s about the ship afterall, and IG-88 with one gun sticking out the side looks silly.. Do like the brick with the Emperor's hologram though This one went from 'must buy' to 'will buy when it's in a sale bin for 10 Euro's'

Pah, Blood Angels, pffff Space Wolfs are waaaay cooler

There are actually different versions of the Landspeeder. The normal version. The Landspeeder Typhoon The Landspeeder Tornado The Landspeeder Tempest And the Landspeeder Storm As you said you were inspired by DOW The LS Storm isn't in the game.... unless it's in the new game, havn't played that yet. So i expected the normal version
-
Allthough micro scale is not really my thing this looks absolutely fantastic
-
If you call that nitpicking over inaccuracies you're being gentle A lot more you can nitpick about. The assault cannon on the dread The dread's sarcophagus Dreads engine/exhaust Landspeeders wings are in the wrong place Missing upper aileron on the landspeeder Landspeeder has no passagers I think that if i take my speeder and dread models and start to really compare i can come up with a lot more. But the beauty of the Model hobby is that you can customize to your hearts content and make each vehicle your own with all kinds of things that arn''t on the 'standard' model and i doubt you can built a 100% acurate landspeeder or dread at minifig scale So i think these are very nicely done. And welcome to EB
-
The only critique i have is that i miss the dual exhaust on the Dread's back and that the Landspeeder can't carry passengers, it's a 2 seater. Other then that , excellent work Although looking at the dread's feet i'd say it's a chaos dread

Awesome looking ship

That looks a lot like the Robotech Excalibur.... Are they related? I do know Robotech 'borrowed' a lot from other series, de Robotech Veritech fighters are a 1 on 1 copy of the '80's Autobot Transformer Jetfire (or is it the other way around..... ). Looks great anyhow, as do your other mechs

Small update on the background story. Not entirely happy with it so ideas crits and comments are very welcome
