  1. Is there a simple way to see the seller's 'seller rating' other than clicking on the rating and looking? eg to avoid someone that has just come on and bought a bunch of small lots to get his rating to a decent level before scamming a sale?
  2. what are the main differences between this and the previous ones? I have a 6212 which hasn't been built for a while, but I seem to remember it looking pretty nice, and the wings mechanism looked very similar.
  3. jumped on the Queen Anne's Revenge - thanks.
  4. bought a used 8039 Venator from ebay. Has one missing wedge piece but I should have one spare somewhere. Looking forward to building it - not done any large SW Lego other than the motorised AT-AT and previous X-wing. Next on the hitlist - possibly the current Millenium Falcon which is discounted at Amazon UK, a TIE fighter to go with my X-wing, or the lush looking Imperial Shuttle.
  5. 7965 Millenium Falcon for £104 new, or 8039 Venator attack cruiser for £80 used? I really want the Imperial shuttle, but one of these might scratch my itch for a while. I like the look of both of them, and both look like they'd have useful pieces for future builds.
  6. amazon UK have the Millenium Falcon for £104, vs £132 RRP. They do that now and then it seems. Tempting, but would really love a deal on the Imperial shuttle or Tower Bridge.
  7. thanks. Its difficult to tell as the homepage is very sparse unless you register.
  8. worked beautifully. Imported 11 orders in one go without issue. Thanks so much for the quick update.
  9. Yes, but can you mass import from either peeron, brickset or bricklink? If you have to update piece by piece by hand, its next to useless for me, I might as well use a paper and pencil.
  10. what calendar? And what are the free gifts usually like? Minifig, or little mini set? I'm near Westfield west on that date, but could make my way across town if its a decent gift. Still have plenty on my wanted list :)
  11. lego website is £209. I thought the lego store in westfield was the same last time I was in?
  12. Aren't most sets just bags of bricks when you boil them down to basics? Just because minecraft has a blocky look, doesn't mean its any less valid as a lego set. If you look at some of the example dioramas using small plates to recreate coal deposits etc, and add in some custom minifigs, it could be a really nice set.
  13. ah, didn't realise that. I have a 6212 which seems about the right size for a minifig - didn't realise the UCS was bigger, never seen one in the flesh
  14. Looking for advice on how people manage their parts inventory? I started out using lugnet and peeron, just adding whole sets. Then I imported those into brickset and rebrickable. I'm trying to keep them all up to date as I'm not sure which is better to use. Now I've started to buy loose parts from bricklink, and I'm a bit stuck as to how to proceed. Are there some sites that are good at importing directly from bricklink, or that support relatively easy importing of loose parts lists? Peeron/lugnet seem to be slow/old so are they less well maintained? Looking for some guidance on the current state of Lego inventory tools so I invest my time into the best way forward.
  15. Is there a way to export orders from bricklink into brickset or some other site? I want to try and keep my parts list up to date and this is the first time I've bought parts separately. Or from a wanted list? Also, any tips to avoid double ordering? eg on a few of the orders I get both a new and used set of pieces. Been trying to order parts for cafe corner and I've now got three staircases!
  16. this is fantastic, and really shows the scale well. I second the request for a minifig standing next to a UCS X-wing. I realise the falcon has a minifig standing next to it, but the minifig is hard to see and is dwarfed by the falcon. Next to an X-wing would help the illustration better I think.
  17. not sure why you'd need a lot of printed bricks. You can do a few coal/iron ore with 1x1 studs, grass texture with existing flower stems and green tiles/plates, trees are probably fine with existing foliage. I think you could do most of it with standard bricks - I wouldn't think Lego would want to do many/any custom pieces for a limited run Cuusoo set? Enough pieces to make a nice diorama, and leaving flexibility for your own creations. I'd like it minifig size. I'd love a minifig creeper!
  18. assuming you want to build one too, you'd need to buy two of each. Now you're getting expensive. And by the time they get valuable enough, CC etc might be a million dollars :P
  19. thanks, will take a look. How do those 1x2x3 white panels fit in the model? I ordered two alternatives: 1) light grey 1x2x3 so I have the wrong colour but the right size 2) white 1x4x3 so I have the right colour but too wide. If they're used for internal walls then the wider pieces might be ok, or if they're used side on for window frames the larger pieces might still be ok, providing I don't mind sacrificing the internal space (which is unfurnished in CC anyway) edit: this piece? - element ID: 4585448, design ID: 87544. 13p at pick a brick, will try that as a backup :)
  20. I just did that today for cafe corner. First time brick linker, so I'm sure I did something wrong. And I was relying on rebrickable to generate me a delta parts list of what I need Vs what I already have. Cost about 300 euro, and I'll use the instructions from lego.com pdfs on an iPad which is a good substitute for a printed manual. I had to use some alternative pieces - e.g. light gray panels as nobody had white ones. I also bought 10x 4 stud wide white panels, just in case they are usable too. And inverted tan slopes - I bought light gray ones with no connectors, and tan ones *with* connectors. No idea if it makes a difference, so I'm covered either way. And the door is very expensive - around 30 euro. So I substituted with a slightly different one of the same size. This is a bit crazy really. Ended up with about ten separate orders, about 1000 bricks. Should have started simpler to try things out. Plus I've not even built any of the current modular sets yet, so should probably have started with the GE or FB. Oh well :P
  21. When logged in, if you search for or click on a set, there is an 'add to my sets' link in the top right. That should add all the parts from that set to your parts list in one hit.
  22. Hi, I've just finished buying a bunch of bricks on brick link, going through my wanted list. Is there a way I can export that to brick set or another site, so I can update my parts list?
  23. I don't understand the difference between LDD mode and extended mode. Extended mode has more bricks....so LDD mode doesn't have all the bricks that are available, so its limited. But then it has too many colours, so its extended... There should absolutely be a way to tell LDD to 'only show legitimate parts' - whether you're in LDD or extended mode. And it'd be nice to have not only a parts list, but a parts list you can export for use in brick link etc.
  24. Can't wait. Live around the corner and as we have young kids we have annual passes. Day 1 :D Just a shame their lego store doesn't have as good a range of sets as other official lego stores. More touristy I guess. update: Just found this page on legoland's website - don't know if those pics are from the new display or from existing displays elsewhere? link
  25. My son and I have a fairly basic setup - a wooden set of four drawers that my father built. One drawer for special pieces, one for large plates/slopes, one for bricks and one for smaller plates. Plates/blocks are subdivided by size into 1x and 2x, and then further subdivided so I have 1x1/1x2 together, 1x3/1x4 together, and then anything longer in another section. For 2x we do it slightly differently - 2x2 and 2x3 together, 2x4 on its own as we have a lot, and longer gets its own section. Special pieces get put in bins in the top drawer, but I could move them to a separate small drawer unit with sealed boxes later as thats getting quite full and the open tops can result in 'accidents' Everything else lives in Really Useful Company boxes. Technic beams we drop in big boxes based on size (5 holes and under in one box, 7 holes upwards in another. Fairly easy to sort through those). Tiny parts like technic connectors go in a drawer unit with sealed lids. Then there are a few misc boxes for car parts, wheels, house parts etc. A little bit stuck with special parts though. Eg we have a 'cars' box which has things like chassis, windshields, and those complex curved panels that cars use. But thats getting quite full so I'm wondering how to subdivide. I'm thinking it'd make sense to pull all the curved panels out and have them separately, as they could be used for other things too. Not sure though. (already have wheels/tracks in a separate box)
