Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Zodack replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Really disappointing approach to moderating posting in this and the 2016 thread. Not what I expected when I joined this forum. I understand the reason but not the condescension. All of the 2015 sets are more or less done so there isn't a lot to talk about other than SDCC, which is also, well, more or less done. SDCC is the hot topic right now but we already have official images of most of the stuff. Easy to see how train of though can go from discussing SDCC exclusives to potential SDCC exclusives (Spider-Gwen, Daredevil) to the viability of an idea (Daredevil and the risk of promotion violence). I would say that falls under "Marvel Superheroes 2015 Discussion". I do not understand what is bad about this but will be more careful in the future, I guess, because I like discussing children's toys with other adults. That being said, to discuss Marvel Superheroes 2015, does anyone know exactly why the US is getting the Spider-Man stuff late? I've seen it in Europe already but no availability here. We had the Ant-Man set too, at least in LEGO stores, but I understand they modified the set and it's MIA in a lot of retail. -

Red suit =/= red suit from the Daredevil Netflix series? Come on now, the discussion chain is whether or not the MCU (easiest to refer to him as thus) Daredevil would be in a set and I was arguing against that. Alternate costumes was referring to anything alternate than what he had in the Netflix series. His classic red suit would be perfect for a minfig but the more gritty reboot won't make the cut because even if they could fit it onto a fig it would promote a violent TV series and LEGO isn't about that. Honestly this whole discussion is off the rails. The entire point is it is very unlikely that LEGO would print an MCU-based minifig of Daredevil because it would promote awareness of the TV show. -

I said a Daredevil set was essentially unlikely in response to someone who said it would be the "perfect time" to unveil either a DD or Agents of Shield set, obviously referring to the timing and popularity of the TV shows. Not unlikely that they would print one for the Spiderman line but it would have to be an alt costume, or something from Ultimate Spiderman, a catroon, etc -

I think they might run a risk though, given that Daredevil is a pretty mature and graphic show and LEGO's target audience is younger kids. I realize there is some violence in the MCU and DC... CU(?) but nothing like impaling heads on spikes or brutally breaking bones, or torture. That being said, a DD fig would rock. -
There's a local seller on craiglist selling the AT-AT Walker and the Imperial Transport for $50 each, which is half of their retail. I think if I had more money I would jump on those.

I like the older one better than the newer one and even that is a stretch -
I'm excited for the new Falcon. The only one I have is old and one of my most memorable builds, so it'll be great to see another updated Falcon for sale.

Welcome to exclusive minifigs I guess. I just learned today there's a Darth Revan fig and in polybag it's upwards of $35. Glad I decided to get my Winter Soldier while I could. -
I've had the LEGO Cloud City set sitting on a table in my room for twelve years complete with all minifigs and never knew what it was worth. So that's a pretty great find I'd say, haha.

I think I'll more than likely build it as-is or with a few little extras, and if I like it enough I can always add on it make it a scene. There are several incredible Iron Man MOCs already on EB that really inspire me to roll up my sleeves and see what I can do to turn the display into a proper scene.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

To dispel some confusion: I was asking for a highly detailed Nova minifig. The current one is pretty sparse (but still nice!). And the only reason I picked Richard was that he seems the better choice out of the two Novas as a candidate for a movie, and MCU minifigs have the nicest attention to detail (for better or for worse). Granted, we are getting some nice detail on the sets coming out later this year from the Spider-Man line that aren't MCU (I love both Miles and Carnage and plan to pick that set up as soon as it shows up in the US), so maybe there's hope for a promotional, accurate Sam Alexander fig, perhaps in a polybag in 2017 or beyond. No SDCC prices, please. Being an AFOL is suffering. Hahaha. Also, for anyone who is confused, here's the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Sam Alexander as Nova, and his minifig (why they chose red for his 'energy' on his hand's I'll never know): Very strange, indeed. Again, maybe we can just chalk it down to "bright, good-guy colors for the kids" as their choice for gold and navy. -

I'm not a huge comic fan (although I'd like to be, and it feels like a sin to really enjoy comic characters such as Iron Man and Nova and not be into comics), so I had to re-look up the backstory of Nova and Star-Lord. Apparently I was duped (like many of the characters in that particular comic) into thinking they both died during the same event. Personally I like Sam's design better. But again, I'm a no-comics infidel. I just know the inclusion of Rhomann Dey and the Nova Corps into GotG made me a bit suspicious. -

I assumed it was Richard because of the gold. I had to Google it. Apparently Sam in the cartoon just has a giant gold-and-red helmet for some reason. Maybe for brighter colors for the kids? In any case I'm just going to pretend the minifig is Richard when I put it on display. It's one of the reasons I was a MCU version of Nova, because that's probably the only way we're going to get another Nova minifig. The Nova Corps figs have some very nice detail, so I have high hopes if they ever make an MCU Nova. Which might not ever happen. -

Actually I made the same mistake, but as posted earlier that's the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Sam Alexander, which makes little to no sense given the costume design. The fig even with the helmet removed screams Richard. -

Can they just give us a surprise 10 - minifig House Party Protocol polybag? I would pay big money for that. Am I the only one who is sick of a) Spider-Man origin story movies and b) Spider-Man as an insecure 17-some-odd old teenager? Peter Parker to me - and granted, I don't know squat about Spider-Man comics - has always appeared as a sort of wise-cracking responsible 20-25-year-old guy who is good at being a super hero. Maybe that's just head canon. Spider-Man as an upstart youngster compared to all these other older, established heroes is getting a bit old for me. -
I can definitely make space for those to flesh out the scene. Definitely a table. I'm probably going to look at the sticker sheet from Malibu Mansion attack for the trans light blue panels near the crane, as well as any extra "screens" I would add to tables. Sure thing!

It's a bit depressing that we get a suitcase but no suit, and no throwbacks to the earlier marks. Iron Patriot and Silver Centurion both are great exclusives but for all collector's sakes the early models would also be great. Thanks for your input. I really want it to last so I've been tweaking the build in LDD for quite a while before I order the parts.

They actually are modular, and it is very easy to add more. It was my first order of business when designing the MOC because we all know Iron Man is going to get more figs. I haven't decided what order to put them in. The Mark order is so erratic (lots of missing suits) that I'm unsure if I want to pursue that route - and I absolutely do not want to try my hand at custom figs, or order bootleg figs. Release order makes more sense to me. But of course, it's doesn't really matter in the long run. As a vignette in mark order it would be incomplete because of the large disparity of early suits, and as a display in release order it would look... well, not like a vignette of the scene. The image I posted with the suits is just what it would look like with them in position to give an idea of what the MOC would look like while occupied, and to make sure all of the current figs can fit (WM / IP's turret, SC's Chima breastplate).

Hello everyone at Eurobricks! I just recently got back into LEGO thanks to the Marvel Superheros sets (although I have been fiddling with LDD since a few years ago) and after deciding to collect Iron Man minifigs I realized I would need something to display them in. There are a few excellent minifig display MOCs that can be found on the web, but I wanted something a) I had made myself and b) would look indicative of the Iron Man setting while sitting on my desk. So, without further ado, here is my "small" Hall of Armor display / vignette, made in LDD and rendered in POVRay. I realize a Hall of Armor MOC is essentially an "everyone has done it" MOC, but I'm proud of how it turned it. This is the first MOC I have ever designed, so I'm taking a while convincing myself that it is finished before I decide to buy the pieces. The Hall of Armor "pods" are designed to hold any currently produced Iron Man figure, including War Machine and Iron Patriot with their turrets attached. Additionally, the upcoming Silver Centurion figure will be able to fit as well. Here's approximately what it would look like with the suits inside. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the minute details such as which suit has red or gold hands, for example, because I can't recreate them perfectly in LDD anyways. You can see these photos in 1080p in my Flickr album. Let me know what you think! Criticism is very welcome, as I am determined not to order the pieces to make this set until I am confident that it is display-worthy.

... Huh. I'd had my eye on that one and just assumed it was Richard because of the yellow helmet. It's a neat fig but there isn't a lot of detail. I was considering buying it yesterday, actually, which is what prompted my initial post about Nova. I mean, the Nova Corps officer minifig almost looks like a better Nova than the Nova minifig! -

There's always a Sam Alexander Nova movie, right? Right? ... (I like Sam's costume more. I'm just a minifig freak.) -

Since the pods are modular (and given that there are an odd number of suits out at the time - Iron Legion helps with this in a certain way) you can just expand the base to the right and left with smaller plates and all two pods and two walls to cap it off again. If you want you can actually remove pods and baseplates to shrink it down to five or whatever odd number you like. I bet you could even make a really cool tiny vignette with just that one pod showing off Tony and a single suit. Right now I include Iron Legion as a suit to be put on display which isn't quite correct, but I needed an odd number so there was a central pod. I just think it makes it look better. When Silver Centurion is out I can remove Iron Legion. Then if another Iron Man suit comes out, I can add back in Iron Legion to keep it at an odd number. Hulkbuster is way too big to put on display unless he's on his own. A lot of people grumble about how big he is compared to the Hulk bigfig. It doesn't bother me out of context but if I were to try to put the Hulkbuster with this MOC I think it would ruin the look. I definitely expect there to be more suits. I have my hopes up for at least 1 Iron Man and 1 War Machine from Civil War, and we all know Tony is getting a new suit (if not two) for the next Avengers. I hadn't even realized he changed suits during Age of Ultron until I saw the little insert that came with my Hulkbuster Smash set showing off Mk 44 and 45. Also, this is more of a Marvel Superheroes 2016-and-beyond thing, but I have my fingers crossed as hard as possible for Nova being in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or getting his own thing. I like to think they showed off the Nova Corps and had the inclusion of Rhomann Dey as a character in Guardians 1 for a reason. -

Back when I was in elementary school I got a pretty alright Spider-Man game out of a cereal box and Mysterio was one of the more memorable boss fights because he made himself gigantic. There was a cheat that made a goldfish swim around inside his head like a fishbowl, too. I'm not big into Spider-Man but if they were to make more figs I'd love to see Mysterio (they just did Carnage which makes me very happy) or... Monster Ock (please don't LEGO). I would also love a Black Cat fig. -

I'm suspicious as to whether Marvel would re-use any of Tony's suits in any future movies, especially since he destroyed them all during Iron Man 3. That being said, it does seem like he still has "specialized" suits for different cases, such as the Hulkbuster. Of course if LEGO Marvel games keep up the trend I'm sure if they make another we'll get another Iron Man suit. Iron Patriot's fig is really cool and Silver Centurion has me really excited because of all. that. printing. As for the display, I can send you the .lxf but since it is the first MOC I've done I doubt the instructions are in coherent form. It's not a very hard build (of course I say this without having actually built it) as the display "pods" are modular and the entirety of the floor is just some plates and then 2x2 tiles. It's worth mentioning that the display was made to fit Iron Patriot/War Machine with their turrets attached as well as Silver Centurion with the Chima breastplate he uses. -
I'm fairly sure it has been said before (and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), but as leaks of this kind come from a factory they are often incomplete so in order to display them they leaker uses whatever means they have available. Hence the solid black cape and black head. Knowing LEGO they are probably stand-ins for the real thing that we will see in September.
