  1. Yeah, the overall design is nice, too bad they didn't end up with crisp, sharp corners instead of the rounded ones shown in the pics. I'm sure it's a cost saver to have them manufactured this way so I won't really complain.
  2. Thanks for the higher res pics, very nice! Definitely sold on the Clone BP and Mando BP, starting to warm up to the bounty hunter ship. Pretty slick mechanism to rotate the engines for landing, sliding that upper piece backwards. Very cool.
  3. Excuse me if this has been covered before, but to what instructions are you refering?
  4. Clone Trooper BP for me. The printed bits and slick helmets won me over. The bounty hunter ship set is a close second.
  5. OK, today had some nice sun outside so I snapped a few more pictures of the v1.1 Droideka including a few in various stages of assembly. Still haven't worked much on the color scheme although I think the dark bley/black would work pretty well. I did add the shield generators and back armour plating, what do you think? Build pics
  6. Little history: I grew up playing with LEGO sets in the early 80's, mostly classic space. I really enjoyed collecting the M-Tron line, saved chore and birthday money to buy them and still have them all. Around 14, I became more interested in my dad's business of British cars so the LEGO sets were put into the attic. Fast forward to 2008, my son received a Star Wars LEGO set for his birthday and it reignited my love of the brick. I dug out the M-Tron sets from my parent's attic and proceeded to find the missing bits online. Then I got into collecting SW sets and they're taking over. So, I'm 32, a native NYer living in CA, which is great as there is a LEGO store 10 mins down the road. I'm a degreed mechanical engineer and work as a design engineer at a local aerospace firm. That's what I do to earn money to buy more LEGO, as if anyone could ever have enough. Anyways, that's me. I enjoy lurking more than posting and am really impressed by the creativity on this board, very inspiring. Cheers, filospinato
  7. Sure thing, and thanks everyone for the kind words and suggestions for improvement! I've been mocking up some possibilities for the shield generators and have made it squat a little lower to get it right about minifig height. I'll post pics of the second iteration tonight or tomorrow with an updated color scheme and some build pics. Jake
  8. OK, first post here but have been lurking for a few months. I saw some of the older versions of the Droideka but none sat really well with me so I decided to try my hand at designing my own. This is my first iteration as of last night, hence the off color scheme. I was really looking for something that was the correct scale as the standard LEGO minifig. Comments? Criticisms? Suggestions? All welcome. Thanks, Jake
