  1. I've got the Secret Marketplace- Should I make a separate topic for the pics?
  2. So here's the trailer for this movie <youtube> Meet Red. Red is an outsider who was laughed at by girls in school, and is later ignored by the lady birds. So, he has developed serious anger issues- so much so that he uses a very small kid as a football in the very first scene. Wait, what? It's a cartoon, it's cartoon violence, no really it's funny! Don't over think it! There is a pink bird which is of course female. Maybe she turns out to be a brain surgeon in the movie, there is no way to tell. The birds look like they could use a brain surgeon...A group of pigs arrives,(insert mooning gag here) and steals all their eggs. Red to the rescue with two bros, gross saliva joke, grosser piss joke. The End. I don't know, there are probably millions of 10 year old boys out there who think this the funniest thing ever, and that is what they are aiming at. Pixar it isn't. I think Lego has gambled on the wrong horse here- The audience is too limited. The audience of people who enjoyed the game in the past is very large, but it's too late, and also the characters do not look like the video game birds and pigs. It's a shame, because their sets aren't so bad. Looks like the castle will work fine without the birds, the pig town is all right, the ship seems a little crude. Hope this does not turn into the next Lone Ranger. (these sets can still be found in some shops here)
  3. Ah, a fellow minidoll modder! Excellent work!
  4. I've made lots...Maybe I should photograph them..
  5. I like the shadow castle more than Skyra's castle. It seems less of a gimmick and has more depth to it. Skyra's castle was just so disappointing from behind. Hey, I liked the bakery. Don't diss the bakery! :D I always wonder where these bad guys shop for clothes and home furnishings. They can't be that big of a market, and yet they always seem to get the coolest stuff. It looks like the Shadow Castle has a dungeon, maybe with a trap door? And then there is a bridge, possibly also with a play feature and then the main house. Those goody two shoes elves aren't going to get to that egg easily!
  6. It's a pity that. Why do toys have to be so binary. I think this theme is far more neutral than the Friends and Disney themes, and it seems sad that by underplaying male characters it misses out on the market share of boys who are less interested in combat and more in character-driven sets.
  7. Ragana actually has a proper house with a sitting room,kitchen/lab, a bed room and a bathroom! I appreciate that. Finally an elf with proper sanitation and a hard working interior designer. Also a big wonking portrait of herself over the sofa- I think I like Ragana.
  8. There are now several new character videos on youtube. Some in Italian. Have these been posted yet? Ragana looks pretty awesome!
  9. I like them. They are just a little more life like. They have very detailed prints, I just with there were more male characters.
  10. I'm with Hythonia on this, I think this series needs a straight up villain. I hope she is really up to no good. Poisoning wells is a good start!
  11. I really like the style of the character drawings, I wonder who the artist is? It took me a while to figure out that the pink thing on the right is actually her hair. Combined with a red or purple dress with lime green decoration. It's nice to see something else than the traditional all-black color scheme on the baddie.
  12. I like the cookie shooter and is that a compass Azari has in her hand at the Inn?
  13. The smaller well object in the Fire Dragon set as seen here seems to reflect the horned "evil" style of the background objects in the previews...So maybe that's a taste of what Ragana's castle will look like? Have these description and pictures from Kmart's website already been posted here? (link redirected me when I tried first, but worked on the second try) Have a campfire at the Lava Cave with Zonya the fire dragon! Join Emily Jones and Azari Firedancer the fire elf, as they explore the Lava Cave! Meet Zonya the fire dragon, then enter the Lava Cave with the use of Azari’s magic fire powers. Discover the secret map and roast a marshmallow around the campfire. Spend the night tucked into the warm and cozy moss beds in the cave, and in the morning join Emily and Azari on Zonya’s back for an epic flight! Includes Emily Jones and Azari Firedancer mini-doll figures, plus Zonya the fire dragon. Features the Lava Cave, with a sliding function to move the lava fall aside, moss beds and a campfire. Includes the Shadow Fountain with a sliding function to transform the fountain from green poisoned water to blue clean water. Clean up Shadow Fountain so Zonya can drink from it once again... there's also the school of dragons The water dragon adventure The secret marketplace and the Starlight Inn and finally the baby wind dragon. Doesn't get clearer than that, I would say! Nice stuff! I can't wait to get my hands on Tidus Stormsurfer! *edit* Ragana, if that's her name, can be seen quite clearly on the back of the boxes. Along with "Cursed Crystal Canyon" where I presume she might live?
  14. Nail polish is designed to give an even smooth surface, and the brush that comes with the bottle works just fine for that. If you are not a regular nail polish wearer it's best to practice on a piece of plastic first to get the hang of it. The stuff is kind of gloopy and opaqueness varies a lot between different colors. Light colors tend to be sheer; matte colors are more prone to chipping. it should come off easily with a non-acetone polish remover, but be careful, because this will degrade the plastic and even dissolve it if there is a lot of it. But it's not ideal for small detail and fine lines, so I use a thin solvent based felt tip pen for that. I have tried using polish with a thin brush, but I'm having trouble getting a thin and even line. I have had some success with masking tape though. (tamiya masking tape) As for chipping, all my figures hold up just fine so far. Your hands take a lot of wear and tear and nail polish is designed to put up with that. Also, it contains a solvent which reacts with the plastic underneath and forms a strong bond. I can't scratch it off when it is set properly. Allow for a 24 hour drying time! Of course, it's never going to be as strong as the paints the Lego company uses to print their parts, but it works for me.
  15. Hello mr. Fishboy! I have tried to include as much information as possible in the posts. The transfers I used were bought from a shop that specializes in materials for the manicure industry. They make very small and detailed transfers for decorating nails, and I found these come in a wide range of designs that work well on the small minidoll torsos. Drugstores often stock these as well in their nail section. As for the pin, ordinary sewing pin. The drill I used comes from a modelling store, sorry no idea how thin it is but it is very thin indeed. I use a proxxon micromot 50/e power drill, an extremely versatile piece of kit I highly recommend. There are several brands of two component epoxy clays on the market but what you can get may depend on your location. I recommend Magic Sculp and Apoxie sculpt. Milliput may be easier to get, but does not have as fine a texture. And as for paint, I use nail polish. May not be everyone's choice but it works great for me :D
  16. My sister's husband built a model of their house as a planning tool for the remodeling of the upper floor. And when it was all done he made a little animation of the whole building process. So, actual real house somewhere in Holland, with an actual real family that lives there! I thought it deserved more attention
  17. Yeah, I agree, but I ran out of medium azure bricks and had to use something else. :D
  18. Loved this set, only wished there was more of it! So built my own version of it. First, I applied the de-pinking shears. Then I scanned the sail, mirrored it, and printed it on ordinary paper, so I now have a double sided sail. The idea of poor Naira living on a ship lacking proper accomodation bothered me and I tried to give her a bit more space. I extended the ship sideways, so that the cabin now fits a full size bed. I think the whole thing became a few studs longer as well. There is a spot for the navigator in front of the mast, with all her maps and tools, and the captain has a cookie, a mug of coffee and a weapon in close reach. priorities! Party space on the upper deck! And inside a small galley and a proper bed. With a drawer underneath to store Naira's diving gear!
  19. Yes, I wanted to start a topic for all my stuff to keep things together and minimize the spamming....I'll have to message a moderator...
  20. Ach, I can't change the topic when I add more MOCs can I?
  21. Love those drawbridge thingies. Lovely MOC, very much in the spirit of the theme
  22. Let's start off with something small...As some have noted with bemusement, there is hardly a larger Friends set on the market that lacks a loo. It's a Friends thing, it seems- maybe girls demand sanitation? But as for the Elves, they get spas...But they still have to do their business behind a tree somewhere. To save the pointy eared ones from further embarrassment, I constructed a pretty little privy for them, including formal garden. Hope you like it.
  23. May I ask a question here about where and how to post my Elves related MOCs and MODs on this forum? Should I start a new topic for each, or is it better to put all in the same topic? Sorry for the off topic question!
  24. I will get around to photographing my various MODs and MOCs some day, but it will not be this day!
  25. I tend to use the de-pinking shears on these sets. So I've got a big hoard of pink and magenta bricks that will get their own project sometime. The sinister pink bunker of doom!
