  1. Builds like this makes me really happy! Colourful, different, playful, fun, creative.. But also Well built in a Lego like manner, seems like it is meant to be played with. Way too many MOCs are copy paste and repetetive with a lot of bricks and plain boring to look at, whilst others are way over the top with detailing gone off the rails ( - have to use allll the special parts!). Think you have managed to hit bang in the middle of these two opposites Good colour scheme and really creative layout, managing to keep it simple but still interesting. This model is obviously carefully crafted and built with love, well done!
  2. Built the Diner this Saturday with my son after I got it on black Friday. I was in the middle of the road with the DD before but still excited about it being something new and different. After building it, I love it - the best set ever! I'm in complete awe of some of the techniques used in the DD and also my son thought it was fantastic, which adds value to me. The curves and the smoothness is great, so many small details. For me building the set is a big part of how much I like it and this is were the old sets fail. For instance the GG is one of the most boring sets I've ever put together! I can already see this set has al lot of twists and turns in how it's constructed and I'm pretty sure it will be a fun build. IMO you need to build and hold it in your hands to really understand the building and what the designer is trying to show you. The Diner was something completely fresh and new to the line when it was revealed a year ago and I get a similar vibe to this even though it's very different. I like how Lego is always trying to do something new and not getting stuck in their old ways, and it seems to me the CG is equally promising as the DD, if not even more?
  3. The sister of my aunts dead husband just Instagrammed me a message I can't remember about the next modular. Apparently there has been a lot of rumors about a police or petrol station. This is not true because it is bad for business and the environment. The next modular will be named "No hope lane", and will include the following: Ground floor - Gun shop: Introducing brand new parts for shotgun, uzi, AK47, bazooka and kevlar vest. 1st floor - Brothel: Upgraded light element, now with red bulb. Apparently also some new minifig molds based on the Friends figures, but this was a bit unclear. 2nd floor - Secret meth lab: It is also this time a fun theme running through the set with the lab smuggling the crystals (new mold) through the building and in to the accompanied ice cream van vehicle outside. The set is neither a corner nor a straight, more of a 50/50 split between a building and a dark narrow passage next to it called "Needle Alley". The alley has enough space for the ice cream van, its customers and a funny hobo and his "house". There is also a second vehicle included, an undercover police car with a corrupt cop in it named Buzzing Bennie. Apparently the trunk of the vehicle has enough space to hold a minifig. The color scheme used is mostly grey, dark grey, black and new color "gutter brown". Additional new pieces are brand new 2x1 brick with bullet holes (mold), 4x1 brick with blood splatter (printed), windows with broken glass (mold) and barred up door (print). Sorry, that is all the information I have at the moment!
  4. Never understood Legos age recommendations. My then six year old son built Assembly Square on his own last year, and he hasn´t really needed any help with any of his sets the last 2-3 years.
  5. Same here, and I totally agree with you. It's been amusing to read some of the comments here why it's a fake. There are only two reasons to why this would not be the final 2018 modular.: 1. It's a preliminary photo for promotion and the final modell will be slightly different and adjusted. 2. It's a red herring "leaked" by TLG themselves to mislead certain copycats. There is no way anyone outside TLG has done this. If TLG wants to mix it up a bit with new faces and newer time period, I agree to think it's refreshing and maybe actually needed to keep the series fresh and not too repetetive. I know some just wants cafe corners and green grocers over and over, but most things die if they don't evolve and move forward. Minor details I don't like is the tan facade and the windows in the "tower". The tan facade on the two upper floors looks a bit boring, flat and lacking in detail to my taste. The windows framed by the turquoise arch are showing too much stud in my opinion. There must be a slicker way to solve this? Also I've really liked Jamies creative use of odd pieces in the latest modulars, like the bionicle fists and kitty tail for DO, hammers and technic excavator scoops on AS flower shop, feathers on PR and so on. As far as I can see the diner seems to be lacking this little creative touch. I WILL buy it, maybe event two when it comes on offer in a years time! I will then rebuild them into a double with one side being a corner on the right and the turquoise arch and the entrance door in the middle to make it more balanced.
  6. Wow, so regardless of how they would solve this, you know for sure you wouldn't like it before you´ve seen it? I personally would at least give the design team the benefit of the doubt to see their take on it before making such a definitive statement. I don't mind either way, just contributing to speculation what it might be, but I do think they somehow will use the 60th anniversary in the modular for 2018. I really like what they did with the AS 10th anniversary with all the bigger and smaller hints of past modulars, so as I said previously, a nod to older classic sets could also be a possibility. Regardless what the design team puts out, it just seems to get better and better for every year IMO, so I am sure it will be great whatever it is.
  7. Considering the 60th anniversary, wouldn't be the perfect timing to do the Lego shop (or mega store) or do a modular take on one or several classic buildings (Like 560, 588, 6372, 374 etc) ?
  8. Big fan of this moc, way slicker and spacious than the 75025. Really tempted to Bricklink and build it myself. Anyone who have the xml file for parts? Would be greatly appreciated!!
  9. Hi Long time lurker, AFOLer, modular collector, sorry for my Engslish, bla bla and all that. Anyone up for speculation about the next 2016 modular? I love speculation, and here is my take on what the next modular will/will not be. Taking into account TLCs line with their latest addition of the DO, I think they will continue releasing sets with heavy backing of a storyline and theme. Personally I think what they have done with the DO and PR is very imaginative and creative. If it helps broadening the target audience - even better. - I really hope/think the next building will be a corner building - Hotel - Yes repetition of the old CC, but it’s a long time ago now. This time fully furnished and an luxury alternative to the more shady looking side door entrance hotel of the CC. Could easily hold a plethora of possibilities for a storyline. Fully staffed with director, clerk, and piccolo as well as guests. Outside glass elevator and lots of gold. Is it even haunted? Maybe the addition of the new Friends hotel will prevent this for now… - Bank - The only way I can see a bank making it as a set, is if they tie it to a robber theme with walls coming of and maybe with an actual working safe? Seems like Ace Brickman will get his hand full.. - Asian inspired building - It makes sense from a marketing point of view expanding from a more european/american oriented angle and TLCs success with the Ninjago series. I do not think it will be a restaurant or take away. Maybe a dojo? Maybe a Chinatown mini market street? - A bike shop tied in to a «green» recycling theme. Maybe with a crazy inventor on the loft? - A park with smaller stalls and structures, fountain, fences and walls, walking bridge, maybe even over two modules? It will not be: - Police station. The DO is the closest we will come to a Police station for a long time. - Gas station - Just a having a hunch TLC is not touching anything fuel related after the Green Peace campaign last year and the current focus on environment friendly solutions. - Any type of eatery as the main theme. I do not think they will repeat it so soon after the PR.
