  1. In that case my character could simply create a magical barrier around the scene that protects from crystal balls, so no one could see what my character is doing. The next one would come with a "protection barrier penetrating crystal ball" etc... how would we deal with this question? Where is the limit for this matter? No magical barriers, no secret ventures in the depths of a cave, miles below the surface?
  2. Of course I would only use generic characters (NUCs = Non User Characters), not a specific user fig. If there are any similarities they are not intended, but I will check this, though I can not guarantee that they will look totally different. I also do not know how "killing a user-fig" would work, they would have no chance to defend when I just build it and toss it into lava or something... that would not be cool. There will be a point where we will have to distinguish between character knowledge and user knowledge. Of course I know when something happens in kaliphlin for example because I read the topic. But my character does not have internet , so if there are no nocturnian spies present, a certain character will only know it when the news spread by rumor or it is made public by royal bell men.
  3. I was just about to add that to my post, because I have the impression that there are many MOCs with someone being tortured by someone else. Or are those victims from the own region and volunteers? Like one Avalonian killing another Avalonian because he approved of that.
  4. Thanks, but this does not answer my question the way I meant it. I will neither raid caravans / villages nor start an attack. But what about people from other regions that have been caught trespassing to our lands? Or do you say that said watchtowers would violate those rules if they were built today? To put it straight: Is it possible / legal to HAVE captives / hostages / living chunks of meat in our dungeons? Not "MAKE" them, I am sorry for that misleading phrase. If not, there is a dark ritual that will have to wait...
  5. I'm game... The Dark Watchtower of Haudh-en-Dúath and Hells Gate watch tower suggest that we are allowed to make captives from the other regions of Historica and kill them. Is that right? I don't want to violate the guild rules if I do...
  6. I agree that the designs are similar, even the details with the desk and the inkpot are completely equal. But what if he had not seen your MOC before? It wouldn't have been an inspiration, just an accident (a very strange one, of course). That is the problem with copyrights: no proof that it is NOT his own idea. But afterall a nice MOC. I like the way you used droid parts for that tree. Yours, Sirens-Of-Titan, is awesome too, of course. My favorite is the use of the small quill that I have seen for the first time on a photo of a thinking poet, I think...
  7. Greetings! Thanks for these instructions. Though I'm a weakling it wasn't even necessary to remove the arms and legs in slyowl's method. I just pulled for some seconds and voilà! Must have been my secret origami-powers Maybe it helped that I moved the metal pin in alternate directions. Having used lever principles this might have widened the space inside the minifig for the pin to move. Or, you have to admit, there are sometimes pieces that are a bit more loose-fitting or very tight. Every brick is unique due to the arrangement of the molecules. It is practically impossible to have every molecule arranged the same way in two bricks...
  8. You are to generous, my Lord. The picture of my character will be up after the holidays, too. Has it already been defined who inhabits that volcanic isle in the south east, what is the island's and the volcano's name? That would be a great place for something I'm up to. If that island is big enough I won't even need the whole island. But if someone lived their, it wouldn't be that cosy... So if that island is not reserved yet, I would like to let something dark happen their. Don't be afraid, I won't let it explode. It will be for the glory of Nocturnus. If there are no names yet, I could make some proposals. It will not be "Mount Doom".
  9. That is a nice idea. Will this "religion" be related to necromancy too or just justify the ferocity of the nocturnians? I've thought about some kind of "deity" (it is rather a great demoness) that can be called via sacrifices and dark rituals for the darkest kinds of covenants. If it is not too late, I'd like to sign up for the nocturnus guild. I think, I've succumbed to the temptation and would like to offer my humble services to Lord Ssilyrrlith if they are still wanted. My mind has prepared something sinister...
  10. Non-purist Section Here you will find entries which require custom parts that have not been released by the LEGO-Group. The Beholder (Flickr-Entry) The non purist item is the yellow ball that V&A Steamworks used as the eye. Tree Demon (Picture by Wardancer)
  11. Animals and Monsters from official Sets and Modifications You may place the word “giant” before every entry. But actually doing so would cause unnecessary traffic . If you want to know how these models are created look for the instructions on LEGO Customer Service or Peeron. some Birds Tiny giant birds actually. Three from the 10193 Medieval Market Place (Picture by me) And one seagull from the 5770 Creator Lighthouse (Picture by TheBrickster) Crab Atlantis 8056 Monsters also like holidays on the beach. (Picture by The Cobra) Crystal King Power Miners 8962 I use this one as a rock elemental. (Picture by mania3) Dragon, armored Vikings 7021 Though the original design is quite ugly in my opinion it has great potential. And after all this is the greatest dragon TLG has ever sent into battle against minifigures. A Mod with longer forelegs, better wings and better feet. I think the original ones are ridiculously small. Click on the images to get larger pictures. Dragon, green Creator 4894: Mythical Creatures There is also a three-headed dragon. (Picture by dunamis) Dragon, red Creator 6751: Fiery Legend Prehistoric Hunters Creator 6914 Prehistoric creatures for the win! A T-Rex: An Apatosaurus (titled "Brachiosaurus", but that one would look different): A Rhamphorhynchus(titled "Pterodactyl", but that would mean an animal like the Pterodactylus and that one would have a shorter tail): Safari Building Set Bricks and more 4637 Great little set that is still available. Featuring a giraffe, an elephant and a crocodile. One of the alternates is a nice water buffalo. Scarab Pharaoh's Quest 7305 Rather a rhino beetle, but would serve as a carrion beetle as well. (Picture by Mariko) Scorpion Atlantis 8076 I see this one (or maybe a mod) striding over the plains of Nocturnus or Kaliphlin. (Picture by Plissken) Some Mods (click on the images to get larger pictures), note that i added one pair of legs: (Sea-) Serpent Vikings 7018 Detach the fins and you get a way better basilisk than the officially released one (which is ridiculous imho). (Picture by Sir Dillon) Shadow Snapper Atlantis 9079 A mod of this with longer "hind legs" (if that is the correct expression) is a great monster to threaten an entire village. (Picture by lisqr) A Mod of mine (click on the images to get larger pictures): Shark Atlantis 8058 A nice sea monster. (Picture by Mariann Asanuma and resized by me) Spider Creator 4994: Fierce Creatures Best giant spider TLG has ever released. Would serve as both Shelob and Aragog. (Picture by KimT) Some Mods (click on the images to get larger pictures): Spider Lord of the Rings 9470: Shelob Attacks The official Shelob is another very nice spider. (Picture by Lego Otaku) Spider from Halloween Set Lego 40021: Halloween Spiders As the original build was quite poor in my oppinion, i combined two of them to create a nice looking spider. Click on the images to get larger pictures. Wolf Vikings 7015 I'm still looking for something that could be used as a warg. This is not the one I was looking for. (picture by The Cobra) And a Mod by Fantu: (Click picture for photostream) Wyvern Vikings 7016 (picture by fenrir) For any of the Ninjago Dragons please visit this Thread. Dunno if this is really necessary. There are lots of dragons. If you still want me to add them, post it. I could make an own section for dragons, I suppose...
  12. Animals and Monsters from LEGO-Universe These have to be conserved. Does anyone know if they delete this wiki after the game is abandoned? In that case we would have to save these pictures as they are only links to the wiki for now. This is the "backbone" of a genereric animal from LEGO-Universe. On the bottom of the first image you see examples of parts that could optionally be used as limbs, heads or tails. Click on the images to get a larger version. Decide on your own if you want to make torso that is 1 stud or 2 studs long. Most (or all?) of the entries are 1-stud versions. 13. Greetings! Inspired by some screenshots of LEGO-Universe, my own fantasy, this thread and finally encouraged by I Scream Clone I would like to start this index of brick-built animals and monsters that a minifig could encounter, tame or fight on his adventures. This may serve as inspiration for builders, especially for the Historica Guilds as well as a way to conserve some of the more interesting ideas of LEGO-Universe (that you will find in the next post). Maybe this thread would be better in the General Discussion Forum as I want to collect building techniques and many cases of "Nice Parts Usage". Every entry shall be built with more than one LEGO-piece, which means that I won't post a picture of a simple official cat or rat from TLG. Every entry shall be approximately minifig-scale. That means that I don't want a life-sized parrot in this thread (or you need a very good reason). But if you insist there may be an own section. Creatures on the other hand may reach unnatural scales like a giant spider or a dragonbaby. So just give me a reason why I should add it. There are many reasons why I should add an entry to this index. In the most cases you can click on the name of an entry for further informations. I like hyperlinks in an index. There is an own section with Creatures from official sets, as there are some nice ideas. Some are even better when modified, so Mods will be there as well. There is also a section for non-purists, which will include entries with elements from Brickforge, Brickwarriors etc. Now it is your turn! If you post an entry, please add where you got the idea (for example “LEGO-Universe” or “my own”) and, if it is purist or not. The focus is of course a detailed picture of your idea. A short description of the entry is optional. Generally know that the maximum size for pictures is 800 x 600 in this forum. Proper spelling and punctuation would be lovely. Dinosaurs by aurore&aube In this photostream you can find a Carnotaurus, a Tyrannosaurus, a Triceratops, a Tetorititan, a Styracosaurus, an Elasmosaurus, a Kronosaurus and a Basilosaurus (last three are no "real dinosaurs"). I Strongly recommend these to people who want to build a big beast. Just click through the photostream. There are even more and I don't think that it is necessary to list them all... Griffin by .Jake Redfoot Dragon by retinence Warg by Blake's Baericks ... the best one I've seen so far.
  14. The best would be a merged thread for composite weapons and armorpieces, sorted by category. But we would need a person to manage the first post which contains an index with pictures of every weapon and armor. You could even include pets in minifig-scale that are brick-built and not simple pieces like existing dogs, cats and rats. A small index of what i mean can be found here, an example would be this little warthog: So we would have a thread that can be used for equipment and animal companions. I think that would be cool. We would have many cases of "nice parts usage". I would like to make a thread like that. Or would you, DrNightmare, want to restructure your first post and rename this thread? I don't even know if that is possible... but if not, i would try to start that index and collect ideas and, of course, take your hammers without forgetting to mention that those ideas belong to you.
  15. Damn, I love that Brainripper! I have been thinking for about half a year to make a thread like this: A guide on how to make custom weapons without Brickwarrior / Brickforge products. You could do the same with staves for mages and polearms for the pikemen. You get a war scythe by simply attaching a scytheblade to a lance, like on this screenshot from LEGO - Universe: We need a thread like this to conserve the nice ideas from LEGO - Universe before it closes. I've never played it, but I think it may inspire some people. Some more ideas on custom Hammers, Maces and Mauls you can get here and here from LEGO-Universe Wiki. Edit: picture size
  16. Excuse me, but my first impression was "Cool, a blood-fall!". Of course because Nocturnus has slain so many foes. Or the tower guards have HELL of a problem concerning nose-bleeding. Or... are there any women...? Bah, never mind... looks definitely awesome anyway!
  17. Greetings! I've thought about joining this guild but decided against it because i've got too much work to do I would imagine the realm of the Nocturnus Guild as something dark with a strong demonic influence and necromancy, like you described it. To to give the landscape a darker touch you could use volcanic elements with craters like this one or even this baseplate. You would get something like mordor. As demons you could use Bionicle Minifigures (and for greater Demons large-scale Bionicles). I own all these elements and dream of creating a really dark Fortress with demons and undead, ruled by a great undead Dragon, who is impersonated by a modded version of Ofnir. By doing this (rocky, volcanic, dark, with courrupted fauna and flora because of the demonic influence) you would give your realm a unique look. Just my two cents, maybe some day a create some MOCs this way... I hope i haven't gone too far with these ideas. Brick on and good luck, Quichybo
  18. Really cool! They should be blogged here: http://www.thelivingbrick.com/ The blog is about figures made with lego without using minifigures. Would fit perfectly.
  19. As this is a quite awesome MOC, could you add some detailed shots of the main features? I'd like to try to build them myself as I also own two TMFs, got the second in a sale for 50 €. I would expand it with some more towers and stuff, your build would serve as a base that is way better than the original TMF released by LEGO, because it doesn't just have rocks but a real mountain!
  20. Ahoy! Those torsos are from this set: Prince of Persia - Desert Attack From the ones with the assassins' claws... Great set for minifigures and equipment.
  21. I went to a store in Germany last friday, just to look around if there was anything nice... that was the first store i saw minifigures series 5. And i thought "Okay... but 2,49 Euros is way too much for me, i wait about a year and get them in a sale....". Then I looked at the price tag: 99 Cents! AWESOME! The first I randomly chose was a gladiator. Bought it, got the list of minifigs so the feeling would be easier. Got every minifigure I wanted that way.
  22. Greetings! Nice to read that there are others... from the first wave i bought the Minifigs via the "touchy-feely" method and i think i still have a hit rate of 100%, so i get at least what i want. Once a store detective appeared next to me and asked me what i was doing, It must look strange that an adult stands next to the LEGO-packs, takes a minifig, analyses it and puts it out... or back into the box. Doing that for more than an hour, staring at nothing... i can understand her that this looks "strange". It was quite embarrassing, i think she thought that I wanted to steal something or, even worse, was looking for children... Now, that the spartans and elves are available for 1 Euro, i was trying to get as many of these as possible. On the downside this is not good for my male - female ratio. So for every spartan / elf - buyingspree I need a pop-star, a tennis player, a geisha or an ice skater... a vicious circle. But hey, now I need 5 to 20 seconds to identify the content of a bag. Nice training for identifying future minifigs, i suppose... And no, i don't believe that I have a problem. It's everyone else! All the other people have problems!!!! I am right, am i not?
  23. Absolutely cool, very detailed and everything... I was especially impressed by your use of the geisha-face, nice idea to give it to an evil / undead woman!
  24. The Atlantis Giant Deep Sea Scorpion (8076) for 2,90 € and the Atlantis Giant Shark (8058) for 3,90 € and a Treasure Island (6241) for 5 €. It was a sale at a German drugstore (unusual that they have LEGO at all). The prices were that ridiculous I had to ask if they were serious about this.
  25. Damn, I would definitely buy one when finding one at a shop. Even if the LEGO Group didn't allow this, they should pay you for the idea and sell these at LEGO-Land. It is a very cool design and idea!
