Mine arrived today as well, thank you so much again, CopMike! I hope I don't spoil any surprises for other Category D winners, but here you go: Needless to say, I couldn't believe my eyes when I recognized him - it feels like Christmas all over again
-
You also have to keep in mind that probably a lot of children get money for Christmas; releasing the new sets when there are lots of children with a lot of money to spend seems like a logical thing to do. For all those who get sets instead of money, see Clone O'Patras explanation By the way, the Y-Wing is 50€ in Germany - that means either 40 or 50$ in the US, I hope it is not the latter.
-
It was late 2010, we got the first pictures on Christmas. We got the 2012 summer set names in October, which means pictures can't be that far away.

Here is the ebay auction Huntleyfx was probably referring to (great find, by the way! ); the picture there is a bit larger than the one Huntleyfx attached. I don't know if the face is exactly the same as the one the new TIE pilot has, but I like the change anyway - compared to all the detailled printing on the torso and the legs, a plain black head would seem a bit out of place. You won't see the face most of the time anyway, and since the price isn't extraordinarily I really welcome this change

The cockpit is connected to the pink/purple pieces with this piece - I don't think there are many solutions connecting the cockpit directly to the engines that aren't too complicated. I don't mind the usage of a clear piece to hold everything together as long as the result looks good.

Thankfs for this great raffle, CopMike! My entry: It wasn't until Christmas that Darth Vader realized how grave the consequences of him killing all those Jedis and joining Palpatine really were. I'm sorry for the wrong helmet, but I couldn't find the right one The white-red thing is supposed to be a Christmas stocking, by the way.

The winter sets are final, but we don't know very much about the summer special edition sets. What we do know is that one of these sets will include Queen Amidala, which means we will get at least one Menace set. Besides, the new box design of every 2012 set shows Darth Maul, one of the most important characters from Episode 1.

I don't think he would actually "force" you to be silent, he put this emoticon: before his sentence, after all. But I do agree that despite LEGO sets being toys, there are things they could easily improve without problems with the budget/deadline. The cannons of the snowspeeder, for example, should have been replaced with a brick-build solution ages ago (I have no idea why they changed the '04 design); the way R2 is placed inside the X-Wing, however, isn't as important as something as visible as the cannons, so I understand why TLG didn't make this as accurate as possible. You can't expect them to get everything right, at least the shape is improved and the cannons are finally long enough.

Not always - on the prelim-pic of 8098 Clone Turbo Tank Aayla Secura had a white head; the new Queen Amidala fig has a white prototype as well.

Cavegod wrote it 10 posts above you - the set was in the same list as 10223 Kingdom's Joust, a set nobody had heard about before. The list was right about the Joust, which probably means it's right about the B-Wing and R2 as well. Besides, it's in the first post

Thanks! Thanks

Not really - the newest pics are older than a month now and we still got three months left until the release of the sets. Besides, I really don't know why one would complain about the design of the minifigs; most of them are very detailed and even on a preliminary picture leaked 4 months before release there are nearly no "old" figs at all. A weird-looking pauldron certainly won't ruin the set and if it isn't accurate to the movie yet, TLG will probably change it anyway.

Mirandir was by far the first one to know all the sets correctly, which means he probably isn't wrong about the Y-Wing either. We haven't seen pictures of it yet because it is a special/limited edition set, but the set definitely exists.
-
It never happened before that TLG put two factions in one battle pack and it also never happened before that you could buy exclusive minifigs for 9$ wrapped in a LEGO planet, so just because a set never phased out after a year before it isn't impossible that they change this system. The fact that the include the same fig in two consecutive battle packs could very well mean that one of those battle packs will phase out; maybe TLG realised how popular the ARF is and therfore decided to put it in the new battle pack, this way they could use an existing mold for another year.
-
I guess this is quite likely to happen - the new battle packs are more expensive, so the old, cheap ones, which are the same size and contain about the same amount of LEGO, have to go. It is interesting how opinions about minifigures change - in 7913, the ARF was the star of the set while now some say it is boring and they should have included 2 ARCs. I think it is great we get even better figs than an ARF in battle packs, you can't have enough ARFs anyway.
-
I actually don't think the pictures are very blurry; I think the problem is that the pictures in the catalog are very small, which means a big picture (like 800x600) has to look blurry. The picture of the X-Wing is perfectly clear, because it fills a big part of the catalog page. The battle packs are just small pictures together with all the other new sets on 1 page, it isn't possible to get better pictures out of that.

According to fbtb.net it has been available at Target since last week - for everyone interested in this AAT, this is the place you should buy the set if you don't want to spend nearly twice as much on bricklink E: Sure, outside the US bricklink is the only way to get it, but it is 4$ at target, which means the prices on bricklink will probably be cheaper as soon as there are more than 3 stores selling it. The 7$ you have to pay right now on bricklink are too expensive no matter which country you live in.

I guess you build it wrong, then. Mine is very sturdy and the play features work perfectly and can be used over and over again without anything falling of. Maybe you should ask somebody else to build it for you, it is possible that you make the same mistake every time... Or you hold it to tight when moving it, perhaps you should be more careful with it. You also have to take care where you hold it - the roof probably won't be able to keep the whole building together, if you place one hand under the bunker and the other on top of it it is much more likely not to fall apart. Amazing review, by the way

I think it will be like the ARF we got this year - it isn't listed as a specific character, but the design is based on one. I guess the ARC will be named "ARC Trooper" but will resemble Echo/Fives...
-
I think a better design isn't the only reason to release a new X-Wing; 6212 was a TRU exclusive, which means that not every fan was able to get one; a new model which is sold in "normal" stores as well makes much more sense. We have heard that 6212 sold quite well, a new design and being available at all stores will even increase this.
-
Wow, sounds great! Does the new Y-Wing look similar to the 07 version, Mirandir? Is it an special edition set? With the X-Wing being the 60$ set I don't really know where to put it... maybe the TIE is at 30$ after all?
-
Very nice MOC, I really like the way you have build the droids at this scale The 1x1 round brick is a bit too small for both droids, though.
-
The size of the new TIE shows why it can't be 30$ like the Advanced... there are completetely new figs and a complicated design (SNOT isn't that usual, after all), don't forget that. I guess the part count is 300-400 parts, you can't expect to pay less than 50$ for this after sets like the T-6...

Mirandar said the sets are from ANH - this doesn't mean it can't be a B/A-Wing, maybe he just forgot which fighter belongs to which movie For now I believe Mirandar; last year we got the first news about the next sets at the beginning of August, which means reliable sources will probably give us "real" information pretty soon, therefore proving Mirandar either right or wrong.
