REVIEW: 71004 LEGO Minifigures – The LEGO Movie Series
MicroJow replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't get the dislike for Wiley Fusebot. He's probably my most anticipated of the lot. Just switch out his head & hands and wah-la! Instant Davy Crockett / Old West Trapper! - MJ- 131 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
MicroJow replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yep, happened to me, too. Whereabouts in this world are you located? My incident occurred at the Santa Clarita, CA USA Toys-R-Us. Same exact thing as you described. I was trying to feel for Mr. Gold and whoever re-packed these packets must have thought it hysterical to put a lightsaber and jewel piece into the packet with the other random parts. Thought I found him until I felt the 1X2 brick in there. An employee and I found between 7 and 8 re-sealed packets in that box. - MJ -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion

In the US, the boxes at Target have a big sticker on one end that says DO NOT PUT ON SHELF UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1ST 2013, so that's why most stores don't have them out yet. If you go to Target this Sunday and the figures are not there, ask an employee to see if DPC # 204-00-1045 is in the stock room. - MJ -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
MicroJow replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In all the years I've attended the San Diego Comic Con (since 2002) Lego has never revealed a new series of minifigures. Hopefully, this year will be an exception, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. - MJ -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion

My state had 36 found with a total of only 488 registered Worldwide when I found mine last week. The eBay price has started to drop as more are located. While I doubt he'll ever go for as low as $50, I've been know to be wrong before! Don't give up - there are lots more out there! I have a friend who looked through about 2000 packets before he found his, and I found mine after 2,760 (46 boxes.) I know it's not mathematically logical to come to a conclusion using only two examples, BUT, if we take an average using our two finds, then Mr. Gold should be expected to be one per 40 boxes. Give or take. - MJ- 1,076 replies

2,760. That's how many packets I had to search before finding Mr. Gold. I'm happy I found him, but for the love of all that's holy, Lego, PLEASE do not do this ever, ever again. - MJ- 1,076 replies

Just to give those of you've found him an idea of how very lucky you are (and to give those of you who are out searching an idea of how hard he is to find,) my current "searched packet" tally has hit 2,160. All brand new, unsearched boxes, and not a single Mr. Gold. - MJ- 1,076 replies

@Calabar At Target. Not sure if they have Targets in Italy... never saw any when I was there. Then again, I was out in Sulmona, far from the big cities. - MJ- 1,076 replies

But are you speaking about the regular 60-pack box that Fangy received? I am only speaking about the 120-pack box that Target gets. - MJ- 1,076 replies

I agree with Basteq on this one, at least as far as the Target boxes of 120 are concerned. I've been through 8 of them, all opened right there in front of me, and the distribution varies. Take Medusa for example - some of the boxes had only two Medusas, some had three, but none of them had more than four. And she's the easiest to identify. - MJ- 1,076 replies

Returned 'em! I only kept a set of 16 plus a few extras. I didn't open any of them, just gave them the 'ol touchy-feelie to see which figure was in them. - MJ- 1,076 replies

I've hit up 5 different Targets over the course of the past couple weeks and 4 of the 5 times they just dropped the whole box of 120 into my cart - cardboard sleeve, display, figures and all. I took the display twice. Gave one away today to a guy I met at the Lego Store. Guess it just depends on the store / employee you get. Most of the Targets in my area don't use the endcap display anyway. They hang the figures on pegs on an endcap. And I have reached my search limit of 1,000 packets searched looking for Mr. Gold. I can now officially give up. Although, if I happen to be in Target or Toys-R-Us and they have a sealed box, I'll probably give 'em a search anyhoo. - MJ- 1,076 replies

Last night, I searched through a box at Toys-R-Us which had already been rooted through and felt a gem piece. I nearly hit the floor! And there was the light saber piece! And then I felt... a 1X2 brick? Turned out someone had bought some figures, cut the package open beneath the flap on the back, removed the figures, and replaced them with random parts. Then, they glued the back flap shut and returned them. I'm on a mobile at the moment, but when I get to a computer, I'll post photos. - MJ- 1,076 replies

While I can understand why you wouldn't consider Mr. Gold a part of Series 10 proper (I do because he is a part of the group picture on top of the box,) you cannot deny that he is a part of the Collectible Minifigures Series as a whole. That would be like saying the Toy Soldier that comes with the book is not a part of the series because it doesn't come in a blind bag. And excuse me, "instant gratification?" I wouldn't call searching 700+ packets as "instant" anything. The whole series is designed around searching for the ones you want and not getting ANYTHING instantly. I was bemoaning the fact they made, in my opinion, far too few of a figure which many would consider as part of a series where we are encouraged to "collect them all." - MJ- 1,076 replies

Well, now my tally is at 720 packets searched without luck. FYI - these are all brand-new, unsearched cases I am searching. I don't know about the rest of you, but even if I find a Mr. Gold, I will still feel very frustrated by this whole thing. I have been buying the CMF since series 1. Each and every figure. And this is how Lego says "thank you?" By releasing a figure which, odds are, I will never find? Doesn't seem like a very nice thank you to this loyal customer... "thanks for supporting us for ten sets! Now we're going to make it so you can't have a COMPLETE set unless you're rich, insane, or extraordinarily lucky!" I appreciate the fact they wanted to do something special for their 10th anniversary series, but making it THIS rare was not the way to go in my humble opinion. - MJ- 1,076 replies

I was surprised in that I'm not a fan of the grandpa's bald headpiece. I always thought a bald headpiece would be a good idea for the Lego world, but there's something not right about it IMO. Maybe it's the way the piece makes his head look like he is recovering from brain surgery. On the whole, I found Series 9 to be much more satisfying than Series 10. My favorite series is still #4 with #6 a close second. - MJ- 1,076 replies

600 packets searched, no Gold. I know the number is 5000 world wide, but I wonder what the ratio per figure is. (I.E. One in every 3000.)- 1,076 replies

480 packets searched and counting. Anyone here remember "sniglets?" Words that should be in the dictionary but aren't? Well, I have a new one for us: Goldiphobia: The irrational fear that you mistakenly identified a figure as the Tomahawk Indian when it might have been Mr. Gold. Ugh. My fingers are coming down with a severe case of Goldilocks (the numb feeling you get in the tips of your fingers when you've tried identifying WAYYYYY too many Series 10 packets.) - MJ- 1,076 replies

Wow! I was able to buy some as of this morning... I wonder if it's just your store or if Lego complained to Target and Target put the kibosh on nationwide some time during the day.- 1,076 replies

Again, they are sitting in the stockroom until the May 1st suggested release date. Most employees won't care about the release date and if you give them the DCPI, they will go in the back and get them for you. - MJ- 1,076 replies
