  1. Congrats Jang. I wonderful YT channel for all ages.
  2. Same problem here. Bought the cargo train set 60052 as a reward for my young daughter, discovered it took 9 AAA batteries so I had to duck out to the shops at dinner time to avoid disappointing her, unfortunately I bought the infamous Duracell AAA's with the large positive posts, went through the whole process of building the loco and putting the batteries in... tried to turn it on and NOTHING. The last couple of hours have been spent troubleshooting the whole electronic unit out of the train, eventually swapping out batteries (for another packet of duracells though, doh!), and finally found this forum thread and tried some other branded batteries which I took out of TV remotes in the house. They didn't have enough juice to run the train but at least the battery box turned on! So I had to carefully cut some strips of aluminium foil and fold them into the positive end of the battery box to use the Duracell's again. Daughter went to bed hours ago disappointed, but at least she'll be able to run the train in the morning. Massive design flaw by Lego to put the metal contacts behind a plastic cage!!!!
  3. Yeah this is interesting. I reckon some batches of Lego were baked poorly, or the mix was wrong or something, which has lead to some weakened bricks... I have definitely discovered a few more cracked 1x1 cheese slopes in my sets now that I am looking for them, but nothing anywhere near as severe as what my Ice Cream Stand looks like! Out of all these sets I have on display below, I've found perhaps 4 slightly split (front only) 1x1 cheese slopes and AFAIK zero 2x1 slopes that have splits like on my Ice Cream Stand. The Shredder motorcycle set has heaps of 1x1's and none of them are cracked in that set (stored in exactly the same place as the Ice Cream stand - on the shelf with our Superhero's/TMNT collection, but built exactly 12 months ago for last Christmas) So I am not totally freaked out about it yet. If it were a big set and 30 odd split pieces I'd be a bit miffed.
  4. I haven't shared my photos around too much because Lego support are working with me. They are already sending me replacement parts and additionally if I send them back the faulty pieces as well then they have told me that they would return my postage fees in the form of a generous set or credit towards VIP membership or something like that. I don't want to make a big song and dance about it, because for all I know the packet could have sat out in the sunshine for weeks before being put on the shelf at the shop - I have no idea, but giving them the benefit of the doubt. Though, I did now have a look at some of my other Lego Friends sets (The Beach House) and found some split 1x1 cheese pieces that form part of the roof and railings, so I am pretty convinced that the problem exists in the manufacturing process. I might examine some of my recent Creator sets for the same thing.
  5. Pretty strange eh! You can see why I was surprised. I'm always super careful how our Lego is assembled, played with, and stored. The wife has been known to call me President Business. Lol.
  6. This is interesting. I tend to put all the accessories that come for the Lego Friends sets (bows and crowns for the princesses/animals) away in a container and never touch them again. My daughter struggles with these pieces and I just find them hidden in the carpet if I don't put them away. So I agree that they're a bit silly. Also the Lego Friends hairpieces never stay on the damn heads of the girls! My daughter gets so frustrated with this when she's trying to pose them and their hair falls off!
  7. Hey guys, Found this thread/forum while Googling to see if I was alone with this issue - guess not! I've already contacted the Lego service department and they are sending me replacement slopes which is very cool, and great customer service. I registered here simply to show you guys the photos I took of Emma's Ice Cream Stand (set #30106). I built this set with my daughter approx 4 months ago, we played with it gently for about 30 minutes and then it was put on a display shelf in our spare room (no sunlight - always cool particularily over this period in Tasmania, Australia) until Christmas this year when I got it down again for her to play with alongside some new Lego that Santa gave her. These cracks had developed (or might have existed in the beginning to a smaller degree) over this time, the set has never been disassembled and rebuilt. I have now learned that you guys refer to these pieces as 'Cheese Slopes', hehehe.
