  1. Take a picture of any straight object at this distance and size and you will see a bend. Lens distortion, end of story. The model may have a bend in it but these pics are not proof of a bend.
  2. 8043 best set ever. Now Jim, tell everyone to get back on topic. ;)
  3. That was 50 years ago, not 40. Totally doesn't make sense. I want a bonus model that we get for free with 40270! ;)
  4. 42070 has 067 stickers all over, yet nothing says "070" it's just weird!!!
  5. I agree 42070 is more for pulling trucks out ditches.
  6. I assume they used an M motor so it can serve its functions which controlling the crane. I really hope they have some return to center system in place. Driving without it is no fun.
  7. I personally haven't been this excited about the technic lineup in years. I will have to find a way to get all 3 of the 2H sets. I have no love for the Arocs, the volvos, clarion, BWE, or the Porche (no b model is always a bummer). 42042 is my fav set in years. My point is, to each his own. I'm just glad this is my year for technic. :). And come on, how long have we been waiting for a fire truck???
  8. It looks like the the 42070 B model is using the large turntable to connect the front and rear sections, creating a pendulum-like suspension? Also, that "Tow067" sticker... What a tease if they don't release... A bonus companion model to 42070.
  9. Re: 42070, Is it 6WD? Is the front suspension the same system as the rear?
  10. I agree 42070 is revolutionary! It's just a great set. Compare it to 8258, 8110, 42009... It will be one of my favorites along with 42042 and 8043.
  11. It seems to me that 42070's gearbox would be very similar to 42042. No problems there. I am more curious as to how it fits in there wth the battery box right there.
  12. So which one of you geniuses are gonna post a LDD of the gear boxes for 42070? :)
  13. Edit: I keep forgetting that the remote is 2 controls at once, no 3rd switch required. So perhaps... Passenger side up: winch and rotation. Passenger side down: outriggers (extend and lower is one action) and crane up and down. So yes, I agree?.
  14. At :53, you can see the passenger side switch in the up position controls the turning of the crane AND the winch up and down so there must be a 3rd switch to select between the 2 functions somewhere. The drivers side switch seems to be steering in the down position and extend outriggers in the up position. The only function I can't find a control for is the crane up and down.
  15. As long as criticism is opinion based, not spoken like fact. I'm 50, not a 10 year-old, and I love this year's sets.
  16. I strongly dislike the Claas, BWE, Volvo Ew160, Arocs... I love the 2 new pullbacks ( 42058, 42059), the jet (42066), the tracked racer (42065) the fire truck(42068), and 42070. The point is, one man's poison is another man's pleasure. So yes, I do think complaining is wrong as it's all subjective. This year is better than last year IMHO.
  17. After seeing the size of 42070 (ty nick77!) it's truly impressive. I didn't like it at first but with these new views it is totally a respectable 2H Flagship. I also like that it's done with only @1800 pieces. As far as the bed, it is as pretty (ugly) as the real thing I'm sure. I agree, the price better be more like $180USD I think many are too hard on TLG. There are some nice models this year.
  18. Well, 42070 is indeed a larger version of 8273. I didn't like that one, I sold it on eBay a while ago. I won't be getting this one either no matter how unfinalized the prelim pic is. The other 2 sound more promising.
  19. I don't know what an "All Terrain tow truck" is, and neither does google. :p. So perhaps it a high-concept vehicle, like they used to design in the old days. 8446 is a futuristic 6 wheel all Terrain crane, one of my favorites.
  20. Wow that's some great info. Thanks for sharing!
  21. Seeng 42065 in profile for the first time we can see the pulley wheels are not vertically aligned. This was hard to see in all of the other pics. Odd but cool.
  22. Thanks! Looking at the pics of 42065 I see my track system is one stud short. There is one of those new 7x3 curved panels between the 2 sets of pulley wheels. My space is 6 studs, should be 7.
  23. Here's a quick (and sloppy) video. Holding my phone and driving is a bit tough but you get the idea. I first started with 2 L motors, one plugged directly into each wheel, front and back, but I saw the model was too wide. I had a suspicion they were using M motors to make it fit. Sure enough that's the case. It is running on 2 L motors, same configuration as the other replica posted. The gearing I am using is 1:1 so it's the same speed as if I had plugged the motors directly into the wheels. The track geometry is correct on this one. The pully wheels on the outer edges of the tracks is what makes it work so smoothly. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/129879817@N08/30917650581/
  24. Re: 42063 Being a motorcycle rider and a fan of the BMW 1200 GS I'm not loving the whole tank and under the seat area. The profile view is weak.
