  1. Say "What" again!!!!! Another great piece.
  2. If the resale concerns are there for a re-issued set, why not go the direction of the Legends line, and put a new number on the box. effectively killing the MISB issue. As far as the loose sets, regardless of whether you had an original, pieced one together thru BL, or put it together from a re-issue, the price would have to stabilize. Since I don't have one, I can't speak on what could change, but would a USC MF 2, with some changes to the overall design be made? We all know they have had no problem going back and modifying standard SW sets.
  3. Brilliant!!! One of my favorite movies, and two great scenes.
  4. Looks well thought out, and thanks for sharing the tour. I would suggest one change, we need a Kreachers minifig. He was the most consistent part of No. 12.
  5. Glad you provide the link to this in the Service station poll, I completely missed this when it was originally posted. Your attention to detail throughout is amazing. I was impressed with the single shot you posted in the poll, but after seeing the whole design...WOW!!! Like LT said, the interior is so detailed, and the sticker work had to be meticulous.
  6. This is a brilliant build Scorpio, and a dead on MOC of a current day Shell in the US (at least midwest). If I missed the original thread, I'm glad you decided to share it in this thread.
  7. JimButcher- Just for curiosity sake, what area of the US are you in? I'm in a Evansville, IN, small town middle America. roughly 100K city. We have 2 Super Targets here, and like I said previous, they have totally different stocking methods. I ask because when I lived roughly 90 miles west of here, in southern IL, the stock would drop off to nothing several times a year, and really only stock up before the Christmas season. I wonder if smaller markets don't get priority stocking, just the leftovers. I'm curious as to whether you are in a larger area's suburb, that may have a lesser stock, than some in the major city of the suburb, or if you are in a small town with only the one Target for several miles. I'd think that the latter would be a disadvantage to them, if they are one of the only games in town, at least thats what I always thought when I lived in the smaller town. Pertaining to the Wal-Marts, we have 3 Super Wal-Marts, and although the stock does wain at various times thru the year, they typically have similar stock, and roughly one side of an aisle 75%-100% full, with some spill over and the clone blocks on the other side of the aisle. Guess we may be the exception here.
  8. To be fair, WalMart does have a decent selection (at least in my area). I hit 2 targets today. One was all but wiped out, only Ninjago, and scraps of the other themes left, and virtually no clearance sets left. The other still had quite a few clearance, and a good selection left. Seems to be a store to store situation, I hardly think Target will abandoned Lego all together. The discounts were all over the place though. I found a Tie Defender for 70% off, and Quidditch match for 30% off, but several sets were only 10% off.
  9. Took advantage of the Target deals... Got (2) Quidditch Match (at about 30% off) (1) Tie Defender (at roughly 70% off)
  10. I'm still abit old school, so the "multi-piece by step" builds are still preferred to the style we have now. The big hole in the roof, I have no argument for, just something we dealt with, in the pre-internet days, when we could see what everyone else thought of sets, with the exception of R.T.L. Great review of a great "old school" set, thanks for the flashback. PS - have to call out the fact that should be the old style skeley, in the final pic
  11. No link needed for me. It was instantly recognizable, but I guess the fact I had one helps for that. Great build, and very nice overall look.
  12. I'm not surprised to see the topic coming from you, LT. 377 seems to have a strong hold on your memories. And to be honest, I think 377 has the best pumps of all the sets, really like the trans-clears. I could pick any from the 6300 series, I think all of them bring something to table. Comes down to which petroleum company you prefer, or which you had back then. Then 7993 brings the current feel to the station. In the end, I went with 6378, mainly because I like the island style, and it offers a baseplate that really works with the set.
  13. My thoughts exactly. I know someone had mentioned using this dragon for the Gringott's escape, from Harry Potter. I honestly had paid little attention to this set until it was mention. Bird feathers where the first thing I thought of. The head isn't bad, but doing a brick built body for this head would be tough. Thanks for the review, but my search will continue for a more suitable fit for Harry, Ron, and Hermoine to ride out on.
  14. I can see the wheels in the shadowing now. Honestly didn't notice until you posted. I really liked the trans under the speeder, it does add a positive to the look. Clever joke, way to adapt to the "original".
  15. Greetings fellow Hoosier, First, I would put up some pictures of this. It would definitely be something everyone would like to see. If you are wanting to sell it, there is a buy/sell forum, which would be the place to try and sell this, a mod can move it for you, just ask. Depending on size, it may be a local pick-up only. That would be a bigger deal here, since this is international, but there are a fair number of us from the midwest, so you never know.
  16. It's all coming together very nicely, LT!!! The Deere dealership looks brilliant, and the tractor is perfect. Can't wait to see the "converted" train depot. Just curious, have you been collecting minifigs along the way, or will there be a monster purchase for residents and vehicles at the end of the build (assuming New Mannum will stop growing)? Again, keep it up, the classic style-modern is great.
  17. I agree the title isn't quite right, but I don't think the original poseter was being malicious in using the title. I think there is a line where, in the case of a very young lego-er, that they need to be taught the proper way to treat a train layout. Especially if, as in the original post, the child trys to push the train by hand which could put stress on the engine parts. It is a toy - Yes. But I think we can all agree, while the blocks can be reassembled, no one want to have to replace motors.
  18. MY 7 yr old son thinks it's great to get my train going, then throw a switch and have it go into the "construction area" of track. I've rebuilt the front end of my train, and my on-track crane more times than I can count. He enjoys it, since it's 9V as soon as it derails, it stops, so no motor running issues, and I get to change and redo my layout often. I try to tell myself its a win-win scenario. right????

    Building a CITY

With a grain of salt...I'll offer my thoughts. I preferred the previous layout within the town proper better. This new layout seems to lack "flow" for lack of a better word. the round-about concept is good, but having a few buildings on each arm doesn't work in my minds eye. Unless you plan on adding some additional road plates to better connect the town together. the green isn't as much an issue, if keeping with the traditional town style, since most everything came on green base plates, but again, that comes down to personal preference. In the end, does it make you happy? The coast line has come together really nicely, so I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine.
  20. Really like the look/greebling and the idea of a 100% elevated track. I have tossed around the idea more than once, and had my share of failures, usually at the connection points. Would be curious if the (2) 1x4s on the top of the 2X2s will not be a failure point, collapsing in, wasn't clear if this has been tested. Best of luck, and will be interested in seeing the completed layout. Very cool!!
  21. Great job!!! I'm not a huge MOD/MOCer, and can appreciate wanting to feature only the Lego sets. Can't imagine anyone being disappointed to have such an impressive display.
  22. Try this - http://www.peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/scans/6399-1/?ct=1 Great find, can't beat these older city sets.
  23. Really like the MOC!! Big tennis player myself, and this seems such a logical thing to create. Net is very clever. I like the studs for this, for the various posing of the MFs, but it could be tiled just as easily. Really nice
  24. Probably it is, and I think most everyone here is comfortable with it. On a positive note, at work, I'm the guy that everyone asks which set to get their kids for holidays and b-days. ...and I'm in line to buy a lot of the sets when the kids are done with them.
  25. Greetings fellow Hoosier, I'm from Evansville. Way to splash into the train forum, great looking creation.
