Karl let out a whistle. "Eighty gold? Must be more valuable than I thought..." He took it out, turning it so it's polished sides caught the light: all the stains and scars from the battle in the sewers had been buffed and wiped by the boy before he'd left for the hall.

Karl listened with interest, the differences between the two rogue's first forays into Heroica striking him for the first time. It was obvious, in retrospect, that the quests would be diverse as anything in this world, but Karl had never thought of it that way. He hadn't even actually though about other people's experiences yet, being too wrapped up in his own future, present and past. "Sounds like it was a bit of a fiasco. I had it lucky, I was partnered with a veteran warrior and a knowledgable cleric." He scanned the room quickly, spotting Keliim in conversation with someone, but seeing no trace of Boris. "We battled giant rats, street thugs, and some nutters who had a thing against magic. Funnily enough, the rats were the ones who posed the greatest threat..." He shivered as the memory returned, and took another pull at his ale to cover. He squinted over at the questboard, his keen eyes picking out the words from across the whole room. "Paladin's, huh? No work for a rogue there..." He took a deep sigh and idly fingered his glass. "Know anyone who'd be interested in a set of armor? Immune to Darkness, suitable for Knights, Clerics, etc."

Okoto Online Game [Chapter I Released]
bionicle_fanatic replied to bionicle_fanatic's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Update: We now have a trailer! We've entered this into the Chronicler's Convergence, so hopefully it'll get a mention when it airs. -
Actually, I'm here to role-play, not really here to find friends, although I might make some along the way. The whole point of this forum is to play a game together, wether we get on in real life or not. ...... -Slowly starts clapping- In all seriousness, I'd probably get banned from here because of the swearing. [:)]

When I don't use emotes, it means I'm being serious I can't control my tongue.
-
I don't think it's actually particularly distracting: It's just different, and people usually dislike/scapegoat things that are different or don't fit into any categories. BZPower. Unity Community. Biomedia Project. RPGForums.net. No one else on any other site has had a problem with it. Some people have even adopted it as their personal way of writing emotes. It's just here that has caused an uproar. I'm sorry, I'm not going to stop using these emotes, autocorrect or not. I'm home educated, so I haven't been subjected to the idea that you have to bow to the wishes of the multitude. Peer pressure means nothing to me. If the autocorrect is making it impossible for people to read my posts properly, then go complain to an admin or something. I'm not gonna change how I like to write just because it doesn't fit with your program. Yes, it does rather... I might shut up now, unless anyone has anything else to add?

Karl ordered the flaming brandy and an ale from Scheherazade, bringing both over to the table. He pulled up a chair and turned it around, sitting down and resting his arms on the back. "My name's Karl, by the way. I'm fairly new to all this.." he waved a vague hand at the numerous anomalies in the hall. "Just got back from my first quest. How 'bout you?" He took a pull at his drink, savouring the delicious taste once again.
-
Karl narrowed his eyes at the half-demon's obnoxious tone, but saw that he had a point. He decided to kill with kindness. "Oh yes, I see now. Thank you so much, my friend. Here, let me buy you a drink... or I would if they weren't all free. What would you like?" There was nothing sarcastic or mocking in his voice, just a genuine thankfulness, bordering on enthusiastic. He leapt up from his seat and headed over to the bar, looking back over his shoulder inquiringly. "What'll you have?"

Oh man, is Karl that clichéd? I'm an idiot.P] This I'm an idiot.P]: ---v

Karl nervously fiddled with his new talisman as he hung about outside the Hall, debating how he should make his entry. This is ridiculous, he thought. Just go on in already. It's not like you've never been inside there before. That was true, but it had been under very different circumstances: he had been running from a couple of thugs after pinching some bread from them, and his entrance had been slightly dramatic and necessary to avoid pursuit. He had entered as a thief, a lowlife, a scoundrel. Now? He was going to walk in as a hero. Taking a deep breath, he turned the heavy brass knob and swung open the door, stepping into the warm and slightly tobacco-y smelling atmosphere once again. A few faces he recognized, by sight, not name, and a few were complete strangers. He couldn't help but think how easy it would be for a nutter just to waltz in with a bomb hidden in his cloak and take the whole place down... He stepped up to the quest board, running his eyes over the requests and pleas for help. He jotted his name down for quest 126, noting with a certain pride that his exploits in his last assignment had been carved into the wall of heroes for all to see. Turning on the spot to look for an unoccupied table, he found one and slumped into its accompanying chair, pulling out half a loaf of rye bread and a wedge of cheese from his mini interdimensional portal pocket. He chewed on the former and eyed what looked like a werespider who was talking at the bar, and taking up an inordinate amount of space.

Chapter 1 Release Date: Right Now. Play Now Yep, you heard right. I was originally going to wait until lego released the Bionicle books (so I could integrate/correct some of the storyline), but seeing as they're gonna be out about Dec (whaa?), I decided to go ahead and release the first chapter of Okoto Online Game. Chapters are gonna be released bi-monthly, so the next update will be at the end of Feb, then April, etc. Enjoy [:)] -

Heroica RPG - Quest Masters' Lounge

Loved playing #123 (lucky number! I'm an idiot.D] I'm an idiot.P] JK I'm an idiot.P]), I thought the NPCs were particularly strong, especially after reading some of Zeph's previous quests (such as the Wren saga). Having reoccurring characters really makes the game feel like it's set in a believable, real world, however whacky and fantastic some of its aspects. Henri's story struck a particular chord, and I was very happy with the way that arc turned out. The scene in the sewer was interesting, I wonder if we're going to hear more from those soldiers, or their masters... I'm an idiot.P] Pleasure to game with you all, Zeph, Mencot, and WBD! I'm an idiot.D] EDIT: ....... Waaaaait.... Someone's replaced all [ and : together with I'm an idiot... O_O What in the brick??? -
Heroica RPG - Quest#123: A Present for Doc Daneeka

Karl grinned at Henri, a profound sense of contentment and closure enveloping him as he studied the old man's excited face. He glanced at Grady, who was looking as surly as ever, and wondered how old the "family record" really was. His respect for the soldier increased by quite a large margin. The whole gathering surged forward into the mansion with cheers and laughter, the promise of drink and merriment lightening everyone's hearts. Karl hung back with Boris and Keliim as their employers approached. The boy caught a leather pouch jingling full of gold in one hand, while U'Or pressed a brightly-wrapped present into his other. His smile lit up his features, tucking away the payment and running his hands over the gift with intrigue. His first proper present... He watched Elba and U'Or enter the house, followed by his two newfound friends. Guffington held open the door for him, an eyebrow raised questioningly. Karl smiled but shook his head, murmuring thanks before slipping away into the shadows. Fighting man-eating rats was one thing, but parties were a whole other story. A story he felt he would keep for another day, for another time. He slunk past a few drunken toughs, the street still wet from it's earlier downpour. He needed time to think things through, to take stock of all the wild and fantastic thing that had happened. He jogged nimbly in an easterly direction, always keeping to the backroads and fringes, arriving at the Hovel's wall. He found the rotting old haycart, crawled through the crack in the wall underneath it, and finally arrived at his favourite spot, the first one he'd been taken to, according to Duke. he rested his back against the charred stone of a baker's chimney, the long-dead fire having razed the rest of the building to the ground. It was quiet here, almost eerily so, the slight rustle of the breeze being the only sound. An island of peace in a sea of filth. Karl slid down the wall, ending up sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and his chin cupped in his hands. This had been the craziest day he'd had in a a long while. Old parchments, zombies, glowing red beings, like hot coals come to life. And then the dream. He massage his eyes with his knuckles, remembering the disjointed flashback he'd had when the rats had taken him out. It had been years since he'd dreamt of that night, whatever it was. He assumed it had something to do with his parents. It always ended with an explosion, like a Ji-Pei engine spontaneously combusting. He wondered why the memory had returned. Could it be linked to all this Heroica business? Maybe hero-ing wasn't the path he should follow. Thieving and conning was what he was good at, not braving unimaginable perils for the triumph of justice. He let out a long, heavy sigh, glancing at the present to his left. It looked to perfect, with it's shiny wrapping and ornate bow, that Karl was semi-reluctant to open it. But curiosity got the better of him, and he shifted his weight so as to better handle it. As he fiddled with the bow, he realized he and the gift were actually quite similar: Perfect on the outside, (or, contented, in his case), but needing to open up, to become something new, to embrace their true form. He smiled, understanding where, for the moment at least, his destiny lay. -

"Ah..." How could a carpet be a riddle? Maybe there was something written on it... Karl shrugged, turning to Chauncy. "Let's be off, then." He bowed to the witch. "Always happy to help out." -

"Yah, actually. Is that what I think it is???" He jabbed a finger at the bag containing the "payment". Flying carpets were the thing of legend, and Karl had always wanted to try one. -

Karl was inspecting the longsword, noting the weight and feel of the hilt. His sharp ears caught Boris's remark, and he tossed the sword into the pile of loot, deciding that he'd stick with Little Flame a bit longer. "They're not too different to some of the Wolfgang, actually. Same maniacal fervour, same deadly tactics... Although these guys might have fallen short in that particular area." He grinned, jerking a thumb at the corpses. He picked up the gold, removed 12 for himself, and tossed the remaining 13 to Keliim. "Y'know, the last time I saw this much of the yellow stuff, I woke up." He gave Keliim the Longsword and the Potion, taking the armor for himself. "Might be able to get a price for this, or even a straight swap..." -

"So misguided..." Karl Put all his might into one final attack on the remaining warrior, hoping Little Flame would deal some strong damage. Battle Order: Keliim Boris Karl
