I thought about buying this set, but ultimately decided not to do it. I do want to build it at least once, so I just ordered the pieces I didn't have and save me some $$ I ordered about 1150 pieces, and that cost me about 140 euro (4 orders including shipping). And that's without the minifigs and the mini-ISD, and some different colors on the inside.

I might have replaced a few brick with some other colors on the inside, but nothing major.

The '-' signs in front of some of the lines shouldn't be there. I guess you used IE to open the xml-file? Use notepad to open the file, then copy/paste in bricklink.

I just tried it, and it works for me. Just make sure you copy the entire contents correctly (from <inventory> to </inventory>). If you miss one line, it won't work.

It would be nice if you could export the list of 'missing parts' to a CSV-file or something. (partnum, color, amount)

Well, I also own the 10030 ISD and 10179 Falcon, that covers for about 70% of the Venator's parts. Plus I used some of my own Technic stock. In the end I had to order about 1100 parts, which cost me about 130$ on Bricklink (12 orders).

Nope, you don't have to cut anything. But you'll need the hoses from both 8458 and 8466 sets.

I've made PDF-instructions using LPUB a few months ago. I guess I can upload them somewhere, if anybody's interested? The PDF-file is 35mb, what's the best place to upload? Rapidshare?
