Hey Fuppylodders, thanks, we're all very lucky to have walked away from that accident with no-one injured. :) The LDD file is already posted in this topic, Xon67 is now focussing on the legs and arms while I continue with the body and the head. The final version will of course be released for the people that want to build it :) (myself included ;)) Xon67, do you mind if I 'deviate' from the movie a tiny bit by ensuring that everything can be snapped together? I already fixed the two cement mixers to the body, but there is no attachment points in the movie version, so I already put some hinges there to connect things.

Ok, this way we can also merge stuff easily later. I'll continue fixing the body part. I think I have a neat solution using a 1x2 brick with 2 holes, that might just be the offset we need. And it will be a good starting point for making it a 4 part that can be snapped together while also being strong enough to hold everything.

Actor Builder, yes indeed I also noticed this in the 'feet'. Those cogwheels are not connected to anything, so they will need to be reinforced, but that can wait until later :) Xon67, I just had a thought about the mech body, currently I joined them together (left and right) with a few crossbeams. It might be a better idea to make 3 separate structures, the left and right and the center part, that can be snapped together in the correct place. This will remove the offset problem (I hope) and will make building it a lot easier, since then you can build 3 separate things.

Ok, here's my addition. I fixed the left and right parts of the torso, and did most of the back side. Easy things that now remain are the top of the head, after this it will get much harder :( Also, I am incorporating some structural integrity so that this thing will actually hold up when built (which I'm planning to do ;) ) The middle part where Emmet's rollcage is attached to is offset a bit, I am trying to join it to the rest with the bars (you'll see what I mean) https://www.dropbox....-11-01.lxf?dl=0 It might be wise to keep the back/more parts separated as they are now, it helps building a lot, and this way we can reinforce it now, while it's still easy to do. Oh, and just one more thing I just thought of, I have not verified your parts at all, I am assuming that they are accurate to the movie. However, we are both humans, so we'll probably make some mistakes along the way, so if anyone here want to verify it as well, your help would be much appreciated :D

Hey Lego Dino 500, here is the link to my apartment version: https://www.dropbox....rtment.lxf?dl=0 I was on Ideas on this page https://ideas.lego.c...s/79366/updates You can also get all parts standalone here, which makes it easier to build. On the Mech: I wanted to work on it today, however, my girlfriend and I got into a pretty serious car accident yesterday. Luckily everybody walked away, but 3 cars are totalled :/ Cool version of the apartment! Also, the Sea Cow is looking pretty mighty as well :D Nice job!

Wow, job well done Xon67! Great job on identifying that slope, I used 2x2x2 for this and I knew it was wrong since I came 2 studs short on top op of it. I did not imagine that the part would be so huge! Also very cool that you use the same trick for random placement as I did (it took me a while before I found out you could move parts this way.), by using parts as an X, Y and Z arrow. (They should really add this in a normal way in 5.0) Anyway. How shall we continue? Currently I do not have super much time, but assembling and reverse engineering this would be extremely cool! We could even submit it to Ideas as a copro, but seeing how well my apartment and building did and considering that the build is now already at 500 parts, I take it it will require 2000-3000 parts in total as a rough estimate. However, since I built both the apartment and the building, that's not going to stop me, and I guess I won't be the only one. So what I'd like to do is use this LXF, then post it back on sunday with additions I did, and we round-trip it a bit until we're done. I guess you have more to do, and I can give one more, possibly the most insane, suggestion if you run out of work waiting for me =) Metal Beard's Sea Cow, fullsize. :D Or, the saloon interior/exterior =)

Hy Xon67, yes that would be cool! Here is what I have so far: https://dl.dropboxus...397458/mech.lxf I started this a long time ago, what I did what create slow-motion versions of the two parts in the movie where the mech is most visible. The first one is when Emmet is assembling it, and the second one is when he meets up with the rest of the team, and does a full 360 turn. Also, I found some still shots on this website: http://www.expandedc...lego-movie.html that show the bottom. When Emmet assembles it, there are numerous parts shown: 2512 2653 2780 2950 30094 30394 32324 3649 3649 3795 3795 3823 4151 43121 43710 47758 47758 50163 55817 56145 56891 56891 61905 6580 6583 6589 67408x 87407 87408 These parts are already in my LXF. Please DO post your Emmet's Apartment! I am very curious to compare it against mine. (I think I put like 40 hours in that thing to get it right) :D

Hey kibosh, yes it's me. It's a bit of a story, but I'm BlackStar of the demogroup Edge of Panic, so that's the confusion =) Indeed I linked to the building before but it got edited by a mod. Anyhow, I've been closely following this topic and it's really brilliant. I am anxious to see more buildings :D on my ideas page there are two versions, one is like the movie, the second one is a modular I built. So Xon67, what are your next plans? Currently I'm planning to do Emmet's mech fullsize version, but it's hard to reverse engineer it since it uses multiple SNOT techniques and appears only very briefly in the movie.

And I thought I was crazy! Apparantly you are even crazier. Great job on all buildings, so far I have only done two: edit: please don't hijack other people's thread to promote your own MOC and Ideas project. Xon67, I would love to take a look at your LDD files :)

A closer look at Emmets apartment building
BlackStar replied to Super Goblin's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hey, I made the LDD model, I put it up at https://ideas.lego.com/projects/83089 . Will release the LDD file at 1000 supporters :) Interior also available at https://ideas.lego.com/projects/79366 . Currently I am working on fitting the apartment in there, the building size is a lot smaller than the apartment (It's like the TARDIS, bigger on the inside) will update as soon as I get Emmet's apartment miniature version done :) -

A closer look at Emmets apartment building
BlackStar replied to Super Goblin's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hey, this is not possible :( I recreated the apartment in LDD and when I wanted to do the exterior, I found out that it was way too narrow. -
Hi everyone, Recently I started working on recreating Emmet's apartment from The LEGO Movie. I have put up the project at LEGO Ideas (https://ideas.lego.com/projects/79366). However, some mysteries remain, and I was hoping that people on these forums might recognize the bricks, or have any comments on where I could improve the model. Edit: To avoid some confusion, I put in 3 renders from my model. The blurry pictures are from the movie :) Mysterie 1: The boiler/mirror in Emmet's bathroom. I have no idea which bricks they used there. These are the only 2 shots of the toilet and the boiler/mirror Also the toilet is barely in view. I used the buoy as they did in the movie, the rest is just improvisation. Mysterie 2: The oven is not in view but there seem to be 2 grey bricks on top. Mysterie 3: I think I might have solved the microwave already, but still I wonder if I used the correct brick for the window since the microwave appears much wider than the refrigerator/freezer underneath. Also, the TV cabinet seems to have wall elements inside that are shorter than 2 bricks. I would greatly appreciate any feedback :)
