I like how well the figure head matches the other part of the ship. It really ties the whole thing together

Keep them. If you dont want to use them with your now army, you can always use them in some MOCs or something.

Oh wow... I must apologize for my lack of research for this topoic... man I feel like an idiot... Can a moderater delete this topic or something please?

Hey everybody, I was just thinking (uh oh), and the POTC Lego line that has been talked about so much and who's arrival seems eminent, jumped into my mind. So I was wondering what you guys would have to say; would POTC fit into the normal Pirates forum well? I would say that this branch of Eurobricks is where it will end up, as I would imagine creating a whole new forum would be a little too much work for two (slightly?) different themes. I think that a different forum would fit it better because, despite them both being pirate sets, something tells me they will be a little too different. Even with this, it does still seem much more realistic that posts for POTC will end up in this forum. What do all of you think? Should it be seperate? Should it be in the same forum? Maybe my thought process is just down right idiotic?

Thank you very much CGH. Thanks to you too Captain Becker (to bad with computers to figure out how to get your quote aswell ). It will take me a little while to find the front in all of that, but it may be worth it! Edit: never mind... it ended up being pretty easy to find

Oh I see... well I guess you have to work with every ship differently. It looks good anyway, so I guess it all works out
-
I have come across another way... The way it is done on some LEGO ships, such as the 2010 Imperial Flagships, so if anybody knows how that is done, please explain because it looks very good.
-
Goodluck... I have never had a task quite that difficult, although about a month or two ago I went through my lego bin, sorted the legos, and rebuilt some broken MOCs and Sets, although they were mostly in tack and I only had maybe 700-800 other bricks...(lost a bunch)

I am definently with ratshot on this one. try to put little flag pieces like most people do, and it will look much better. I am starting a MOC ship myself that will not be 100% historically accurate, so i respect that you to are doing this, but you may want to make a few smallish changes to make it a little more accurate.
-
Well it is not a super long process, but semi lengthy to explain... You can probably find a guide just by google-ing "how to access universe mode in lego digital designer" or something similar. If you are unlucky, you may not be able to access it, and if you are as unlucky as me you may have TWO computers and STILL not be able to access it, but I am once again getting off topic...

My favorites are not the most loved sets that everybody says -cough cough- BSB -cough-. My favorite is probably 6270 Forbidden Island (yeah..sad that I know the number by heart). Lagoon Lockup is also a favorite.

It is a beautiful little MOC. I would make the walls a little higher, and maybe put a slightly elevated seat as a crow's nest type thing or place for an officer(or other higher rank). maybe stack the ammo into up to 3 layers to give a little extra room? Too many people overlook making nice small outposts... how else will there huge forts be alerted from oncoming attacks?
-
not bad. I am not crazy about the actual shape, but maybe I am just picky. one tip I do have though is for the bottom of a brick built hull... try using 2x3x1 1/3 inverted slant bricks with 2x2x1 1/3 inverted slant bricks ontop and it will give a better curve.
-
Well I am definently no expert with digital media, but I could try to make something as more of a backup plan... MS Paint, here i come!
-
Not to argue with you, but we are talking about his ship in a box. How is it off topic? (I am actually asking just so I have a better understanding and I wont make the similar mistake again, not trying to be argumental, as you clearly have more experience on the forums than me)
-
Those are some advanced pirates... they even left decoy masts there so the navy will try to hit them to cripple they ships ability to sail... I always thought Cap. Redbeard was smart, but man...

Hey everybody. I am going to begin working on my new MOC Ship soon, but I am not sure what way I would be best off doing the front end, so I figured I might as well make a nice little post where everybody can share different ways of making front ends, and we can all learn some new styles. Now, this will be my first serious MOC ship so I do not have to much knowledge to share. The best way I really understand is CBH's front end from his Build a frigate! guide.(CBH, I hope you dont mind that I am "borrowing" your brickshelf guide as a resource, and if you wish, I can take it out in a heartbeat) So please everybody, post some of your favorite front end techniques! Pictures are always helpfull aswell. PS. I was slightly unsure if this would fall under the discussion forum or MOC forum, so if I was incorrect, please do move it and yell at me MODs... I have also done my best to make sure this topic wasnt already around, but if I missed it, please tell me or whatever
-
How will it sail with no wind in this box? Ha, I really do like your idea
-
I have personally found for custom hulls, you can get a better curve by using the inverted slanted 2x3 bricks then using the 2x2 inverted slants... unfortunently LDD isnt on this comp, so i dont have any pictures readily available, but it is a pretty simple concept. On the base, the 2x3s go on the outermost studs and the 2x2s go on the 2x3s outermost studs... i think that may have made it more confusing. if anybody gets what i am saying, please help me better explain it... I like how the fleet is look aswell... CGH/CBH's Frigate Guide surely is a good one
-
It looks amazing. I am looking forward to seeing more of it. How are your other projects going? I hear you there. Hope you have better luck than me ha
-
It is nice. If you are able to access Universe Mode on LDD you can get the brick in white, since you arent buying the fort anyway... LDD is very overpriced. I used to find Lego sets overpriced, then I found LDD, but i seem to be getting off topic so I will stop right here

Hey I was just taking another look at the ship, and I noticed one thing that you may want to look at. To get to the outhouses the crew has to pass through the captains quarters, which seems a little un-captainly. It isnt a big deal, but it seems more suitable in my mind to maybe put some type of a bridge going to them so they arent running through there to go to the bathroom... unless they are only for the captains use, but if this is the case, why are there two? I doubt that is the case though... -
It looks good from what I can see, but I cant see the first picture. Is it possible that you could upload some photos to brickshelf?(the only lego picture site that actually works for me 100% of the time) I like how the stern has some detail, but you didn't make it to extravagent so it still shows that it is a merchant-ish ship
-
Finally, something i actually knew. It seems like so many people here on classic-pirates and eurobricks know so much about pirates, and although I know an exceptional deal, they make me feel inferior. Ship looks even better with minifigs CCOOK, oh and thanks for letting me use a similar plank idea

I do not think the cannons look small, i think they make the ship look big You may want to reduce the oven size a little if possible, and maybe find a better spot for it, perhaps make a small kitchen?
