@Terrasher You can buy them off a popular auction site. Just load up the U.S. homepage and search for "Lego Clone Pilot Helmet". I bought 2 and they look fantastic on my Gunship pilots.

So I purchased the Tie Advanced Prototype, and I really enjoyed the build. The figures are great as well. I am quite enjoying Rebels (Although not as much as TCW), and after seeing DarthTwoShedJackson's AT-DP, I was so tempted to copy the build. I however decided to settle on just purchasing 75083, even though something looked a little off. After playing around with it - the yellow really bothered me. I know why they chose it looking at pictures of the source material, but it just looks wrong in brick form. I think Tan would have been better. The flick-fire also protrude too much. So that led me to replace all of the yellow parts with Light Bley, take out the flick fires, and replace them with some 1x2 inverted wedges, and I think the model looks much, much better :) I think I might make the cannon a bit shorter as well, as I think it is a tad too long.

Personally, as someone who only started to collect Lego again Mid-2014 after a decade away, I am thrilled that Stormtroopers are available in abundance again, as I don't have an issue with the new design as I don't have any of the older ones. Next to Kallus, The Inquisitor and my Classic Palpatine and Vader figs, they fit right in :)

So how does this compare for scale against the 10240 Red Five X-Wing? Cockpit of this one seems a bit on the small side...

@GuyDudeMan27 Would you be able to share the .lxf file as well please? I would very much like to have a look at DarthTwoShedsJackson's excellent model. As a beginner MOCer I'd very much like to have a look at the build techniques properly for this slick looking AT-DP.

The most notable known difference is the round radar dish is now square, after Lando knocked it off blasting out of the second Death Star. Can get a good look at the end of the Force Awakens trailer. There's also some snaps of the falcon set photos doing the rounds online should you want a closer look.

Nice work, I've been mucking about with something very similar In LDD after watching "The Wrong Jedi" Clone Wars episode. Can I ask how you handled the weight of the spotlights, and what kind of joint you used? The biggest problem I was facing was figuring out what kind of joint I could use to keep articulation but stop it sagging down. Because if you look at this picture they stick out quite far, and seem to be where the arches on the EPII 75021 are. On LDD I ended up sealing up the arch and having a ball joint with some technic pins supporting a hexagonal shaped spotlight made up of a few bricks. I have a feeling in reality, the weight will be far too much for the technic pins, but I don't really have the Lego experience to know without trying it.

Is the deal at Smyths better than Argos 3 for 2? Argos have both the ISD and Falcon, and can get a third free.

Thanks guys. @Hawkman I didn't varnish it, because the paint application is minimal. It's really only the visor that is likely to rub. I think I'm gonna paint another visor though, because I didn't prime this one so the paint is a bit lumpy, and spoils the look when you're right up close. The visor is quite glossy so the acrylic wasn't sticking as good as it should.

Hi all, Coming off the back of my Clone Wars binge, I have got a little obsessed with Clone Troopers. And for me, none of them top Commander Cody, and his dynamic with General Obi-Wan Kenobi. I decided I wanted to add him to my Lego 212th collection, in his Phase II gear. Scouting eBay it was all overpriced custom prints and dodgy customs. Apologies for the low res photos. I don't have my decent camera with me at the mo. It's all official Lego parts, no Custom printed etc. 7959 Cody Torso 75001 Republic Trooper Legs & Arms 75036 Utapau Troopers Head & Helmet Standard Visor Livened it up with a dab of Vallejo 70.911 (Light Orange) which colour matched perfectly. Really happy how this turned out, so wanted to share the results in case anyone else wanted to give it a shot ^_^ (Apologies if there is a thread that this post should go in)

Thanks for all of the feedback. Was not easy, but I picked up a used, but boxed 8088, 100% complete, for less than it retailed at launch, so all in all happy with my purchase. Also picked up another black helmet 8088 Clone Pilot for the third cockpit seat ^_^ Was the overwhelming majority in favour of 8088 that swung it in the end.

I'm thinking of taking a punt on 7259, it doesn't look so bad with some really minor modifications. Mostly swapping those ghastly red technic ball joints, tweaking the canons, and tidying up the nose. 7259 is going at a much more reasonable price on the second hand market at the moment as well. Thoughts? Was thinking of making some modifications to the rear portion of the engines as well (At the moment, I've only swapped the orange dishes for violet ones).

Thanks for the input guys. @HJR-Holland Those variants look wicked. @Fuppylodders That's not a bad idea, might do that later on. I think I prefer the 7259 overall, but I'm being a bit put off by the S-Foil Mechanism, it just doesn't look as clean as 8088. I think that's what it's boiling down too at the moment. It's like Lego gave with one hand and took away with the other with 8088....

Hi all, I'm looking to add one of my favourite Star Wars starships to my small Republic Army collection, the ARC-170, however, as the title alludes to, I am struggling to decide whether to pick up the first 7259 model, or the newer 8088. Comparing pictures, and going through the review threads here, it doesn't seem like there's much in it aesthetically - however there are parts I like from both. So what is the general consensus? What is the better model? I'm looking at evaluating them on, aesthetics vs. screen accuracy, and general good design. I'm not worried about the Minifigs for comparison, as either way I'd get the newer type to go with it. I'm even considering starting with 7259 and incorporating bits of 8088 I like (Or maybe the other way around!) Thanks ^_^

Picked up 9496 Desert Skiff & 75015 Corporate Alliance Tank droid yesterday. Can finally add these two to my little collection:

[LDD MOC] 71,000 piece, 13-foot Super Star Destroyer
MrLee replied to Fox Hound's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Kotaku wrote about you and your project. That should boost some publicity for you. http://kotaku.com/heroic-kickstarter-wants-to-build-a-13-foot-star-destro-1632240784 -
I didn't know about 7913, seems like a good compromise. I've put in my Bricklink order now, so I'll share the results when it's done :)

Thanks guys. Comparison pictures with Minifig: Pedals No Pedals @AwesomeBantha I'm inclined to agree with you about the pedals once a Minifig is on it. It does look a bit out of place :) Means I'd only need about 25 new parts.

Hi all, This was my first shot at using LDD, as I wanted to improve the BARC Speeder that came with the Saleucami Battle Pack. I thought the nose that catered for the flick cannon totally ruined the look of it in terms of screen accuracy. After a bit of research, I saw the BARC with Sidecar 75012 and thought it looked a lot better. I took a shot at taking the best of what I liked in both and combined them. I'm looking at an additional 30 pieces on top of the original 75037. I opted for green trim as I designed it for my 41st Clone Squad. I plan on buying the pieces on Bricklink & eBay, so if any body has any suggestions as to how it may be improved, I'll be happy to hear it :) Original 75037 Modified (Red Denotes new pieces, Green is existing adjacent pieces) Rendered in 41st Livery New Pieces for improvements

Hi all, Just thought I'd share an idea I had to display my mid sized Lego Star Wars ships. They're not the prettiest, but they're quite discreet which is why I like them: It's as simple as getting an empty 1.5L bottle of water, and cutting the top and bottom parts off with a Stanley knife. The fun part is cutting the top part (The part the craft sits) into angles so you can pose your vehicles in more dynamic 'action' shots, like banking and stuff. It helps if you cut large teeth into the top parts so the craft actually sits into something rather than precariously balancing on top. Not tried this with anything big, but I see no reason why multiple stands can't be used for bigger craft. Thanks for looking ^_^

"Aim right above the fuel cells!" Looks great, look forward to seeing the rest of the project. Is it hollow on the inside with a technic frame? Just curious how people tend to approach big MOCs like this.
