  1. Trolling Sebastia Makuta is best Makuta in my eyes. As long as he gets some good trolling in idc if they got the redemption route or w/e.
  2. I personally loved how strange the Barraki looked. I love it when Bionicle does sets like those, like the 01 Rahi, like the Phantoka Toa and Makuta, etc. 2016 takes place in the NGE universe post-Third Impact confirmed?
  3. I'm also on the boat of liking Umarak's lower legs. I really like it when they do weird stuff like this, it's part of what made me fall in love with Bionicle in the first place. I'm also happy about the G1-ish shells, though that's just me liking G1's schizo-textures.
  4. I'm loving how these sets look. Can't wait to see the finalized pictures when they eventually are unveiled!
  5. The Master never gets a concise explanation anyway, so this was just cutting out the middleman while lampshading his/her Joker immunity.
  6. I loved this episode. Missy is absolutely my favorite Master.
  7. I'd say Grievous, Obi-Wan and Vader are all must-haves for various reasons. Grievous for its amazing build and intimidating appearance, Obi-Wan for its amazing appearance and so that Grievous and he can fight, and Vader because of his really cool custom torso build and because, well, he's Darth Vader.
  8. Basher's definitely my fave. His function is incredibly addictive and not nearly as restricted as I thought it'd be. After that, Warrior is my second favorite due to his beautiful design. Afterwards, Slicer due to having a nice function and aesthetics but kinda clunky execution. Then for last I can't decide between Scorpio or Grinder. On one hand we have a very rigid figure that at the same time looks incredibly horrifying as it should and has another incredibly addictive function, and on the other a very dull build (though I do like those big wheels in his gearbox) with a gappy look that at first I was okay with but annoys me a bit now and a very nice-looking weapon that's too heavy for its arm to carry and a secondary sword that looks incredibly dull compared to the spear. I think I like Scorpio a bit more than Grinder, thinking about it.
  9. I don't mind narmy voices but in dramatic moments they totally kill any drama the moment might have for me, as has been the case with these animations. Not so much silly, mind, I'm okay with Jar-Jar's voice during dramatic moments of Clone Wars so long as the tone is appropriate, but here all their voices sound so over the top that I can't take it seriously.
  10. I'm also chiming in for Grievous. He looks incredibly intimidating.
  11. It is incredibly satisfying to have Lewa wield two lightsabers against Slicer with 3-4.
  12. Gali dons her Jedi powers to vanquish the Skull Spiders once and for all! https://farm1.staticflickr.com/781/20607595424_4a8f6c802b_o.jpgPardon the poor quality.
  13. Jango was a great set, I hope they make Boba and Sabine Wren with that helmet model one day!
  14. I got all the summer sets yesterday for my birthday and it's been a blast playing with them. Thoughts from worst to best: Skull Scorpio: Definitely my least favorite due to bizarre looks and rigid legs. I didn't care about them having much articulation but something like a function where turning a knob rotates them a bit would've been nice. I don't know whether I like it or LoSS better. LoSS has a bit more poseability and looks really cool overall whereas Scorpio has an incredibly addicting function, so I'm torn. I'd probably rule in favor of Scorpio due to the Kakama, since I like it more than the golden Skull Spider Mask. Skull Slicer: Love how he looks although the function is a bit clunky, what with the colliding swords and chain. Still, I love how he looks and it was great fun building his gearbox. The Miru also looks pretty sweet in those colors (plus I'm in the camp that loves the 2015 design for it so that helps) Skull Warrior: Relatively standard build but he pulls it off very well. The bow is amazing, the spear is cool and overall the figure itself has both great play value and amazing posing capabilities. The Akaku is my favorite of the drained masks, what with being my 2nd favorite 2015 mask (my favorite being the Kaukau, which didn't get a drained form) and having what I consider to be the best colors for both the Toa and the Skull villain. Skull Basher: Definitely my favorite of the 4 smaller ones due to its function. At first I was worried because he didn't have a rubber band so I thought his arms would flail wildly. Even though they do flail, the lack of a rubber band allows for such great movement range with his shoulders that I can't fault it. It's my favorite function of the entire wave. Combined with the epic dual axes, makes for my favorite of the smaller sets for the summer. The Pakari is pretty sweet too. This set was only dethroned by... Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder: Before getting the set, I thought Skull Grinder would be the star of the show. After building it and playing with them, it's definitely Ekimu and the Mask of Creation. I love the way Ekimu's built and how he looks, and the Mask of Creation is now literally my favorite Bionicle mask ever. The hammer and shield look really sweet, the Cinderella carriage wheel was a great touch. While building Grinder was great fun, he's not as impressive as I thought he'd be. The gap is pretty annoying (though I'm willing to forgive it due to the skeleton aesthetic) but what I like the least is that it has an amazing-looking yet annoyingly heavy weapon on one hand and a normal sword on another. I think the sword could've been jettisoned (or adapted as the bottom tip of the spear) and have the spear be dual-wielded. That would've messed up the gear function, though, unless it worked differently, which I'd also do so that both arms swung in unison. I still like the set, though, and I love having him fight the Toa and losing his spear yet still fight them with the sword. Overall rankings for the year: 18- Lord of Skull Spiders 17- Izotor 16- Scorpio 15- Nilkuu 14- Kivoda 13- Vizuna 12- Slicer 11- Pohatu 10- Lewa 9- Narmoto 8- Korgot 7- Warrior 6- Tahu 5- Onua 4- Basher 3- Gali 2- Kopaka 1- Ekimu vs. Kulta
  15. I'll definitely be using the cape from my spare Furno XL for when I roleplay with these, even it's the wrong color.
  16. I never cared much for the first 3 years. 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 all the way for me. Especially 2004 with the dystopic Metru Nui and one of my favorite Toa teams and 2008 with the climax hitting all the marks for me and one of my favorite twists ever.
  17. I also love Death Note. If you want another anime with gray vs. grey morality, I recommend Shiki. It's about vampires but it's not a shoujo vampire romance series, it is vampires played very much for horror. It takes a while to establish gray vs. grey (first one side is portrayed as innocent but then the waters are muddied). I definitely consider it worth watching. Another anime that has morality in question a lot is Parasyte, but not quite to the extent of Death Note. An anime I haven't seen yet but I've heard is very much like Death Note is Code Geass. From my friend's recommendation, it sounds really good and very riveting, like Death Note.
  18. After I got past Narmoto and Bingzak, they've grown on me. I'm just glad I have names to memorize again. xD
  19. I agree with Mandate, to me both suck without Technic. As an MoCer, I favor CCBS, but to me the various textures have always looked too awesome for me to not like them. I guess that's what I liked most about Bara Magna, an excuse for having awesome hodgepodge-y vehicles.
  20. I think the Dalek looks nice, but it reminds me more of the 80s Daleks (especially the Special Weapons Dalek from Remembrance of the Daleks) and the Paradigm Daleks from Victory of the Daleks than the Post-Time War Daleks from 2005+. I remember MOCing up a Dalek in LDD that was kinda like that but a bit thinner, so it could've been done slightly more accurate but I'm okay with it nonetheless.
  21. I'd try it out if I wasn't already doing a Takanuva costume with my dad. I can see Warrior as an easy costume, Basher and Grinder a little more difficult, and Slicer and Scorpio as significantly more difficult. xD
  22. Amnesia seems to be Bionicle's go-to plot device, what with all the memory wipes in G1 and now with our amnesiac heroes and villain in G2. Regardless, I just hope some of Slicer's past is explored in some way, shape or form (this is what I loved about the early serials, they let us explore the past). Maybe it can be a plot point that drives him to woobie destroyer of worlds/tragic monster territory and makes the him side with the Toa?
  23. Yeah, I think those were intentional homages. Pretty good ones, too.
