Nice job on the micro build and I like the forced perspective. Is the black SNOT bricks supposed to be oil?

[G:F14 | U vs. DK] Forging a Dwarven Knight
Yzalirk replied to Yzalirk's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thank you Balbo! That was one of my inspirations for doing this but apart from anything in The Elder Scrolls, I was actually inspired by Hyperion from Borderlands! I'm glad you like it though and I too want to see what happens due to this. -

Thanks, Bregir. I didn't want to break any lore but so I thought carefully about the idea and I'm glad you like it and the story. -

In the Rakath Moutanins, the Steel Meridian have restored a lost underground city called Vern Badur. The city was fairly small and was seized by Osric Isentooth and his rats many years ago, when he was in power. Those forces have left that area a while ago to fight for the Desert King. Since the Steel Meridian mercenaries have been hired to fight for the First Centurion, they've been saving their coin for a rather peculiar project. Their inventors have been researching ways to build strong mechanized men. Some old Dwarven scrolls speak of a way to bring life into the non-living. since this project has been financed greatly, one of the leading inventors, Nothek Ironjaw, has forged a 6-foot tall steel man that has interchangeable parts so it can shoot a crossbow bolt in the left arm and wield a sword in the other. The man has cogs on the inside but is powered by a gem that has trapped souls from fallen allies. If they were to use the souls from fallen enemies, that would just defeat the purpose of these fighting on there side. With the war sending the price of Steel up the wall, forging these aren't that easy, especially with having everything so precise and with this being their first build and prototype, it has yet to see it's effectiveness in combat before any streamline production can begin. C&C Welcome and appreciated! Here are some extra pictures:

OoC: I'll edit my attack then. I didn't want to and mess anything up since you said to just continue. -

OoC: I was not aware of that being the actual plan. You also forgot to include the dog as well. I'll focus on Snake C next then, if that clears this up. Oh, and please do not depict me as some sort of mongoloid or oaf, come on. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #128: A Study in Red Death
Yzalirk replied to Cutcobra's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: If you look at the time, I posted my attack way before samuraiturtle edited his post thinking which snake(s) I'd attack. And it is very annoying to keep up with attacks when people are saying repeat attack or attack which snake has the highest health. And why am I the only one to be expected to attack Snakes C or D when I've mainly attacked A. -

I took a look at the Treasury and noticed a lot of the weapons are Crossbows and I don't know why I don't just use of of those. I'll actual do some experimenting with brick built Hand Cannons I could use and I'll give you guys a peek, if that is not a problem.

[CG:O16, U vs. DK] The Desert King EXPOSED!
Yzalirk replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
This is definitely a funny counter! -
I didn't want to openly mention Steampunk in the case I might get some funny looks but I genuinely believe that Steampunk should be the only method of technology. It's quite simple but it has that Science Fiction aspect that makes it fun and enjoyable. Things like modern technology or very advanced fictional technology should just be avoided. Really? For me, it depends on what sort of advantage it gives if it's an actual player item but if it's an NPC item that can't be given to players, that's a different story. I see your point but if a mechanical person can be created, I don't see the reason for there to not be some sort of flintlock or matchlock weapons. That's what I'm trying to get at. Even if these said weapons are rare or exclusive to a faction, I would very well be fine with that. I really just hope that Heroica's technology advances in the upcoming years to actually allow these said weapons and hopefully any types of revolvers. Besides that little stick that peppers enemies, what else would be acceptable for a Hand Cannon?

I did not intend for such chatter about early guns and what not but it really did get me thinking. Clearly Heroica takes place in a fantasy realm with Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins, Humans, Elves and so on but there are Science Fictional elements that have been pointed out. A good example I'll use are the automatons. Typically they are like robots. So if this could be done, how could early guns not be a thing? I strongly disagree that guns would be superior over swords. Guns leave holes, swords leave large cuts but could dismember. Both are effective but despite they can't do that in Heroica, both are effective in their own way. Rangers have low health compared to Knights and other melee fighters. That makes a perfect balance, in my opinion. I still do believe that there are boundaries that shouldn't be crossed though. Things like space travel just seem too advanced. More about guns, I don't mind if in a few years the variety of types of expands but the sooner the better! I'm like guns so I guess I can be considered a gun-buff but things like machine guns and assault rifles are just insane for this setting! The only thing I could see somewhat acceptable is a crank gun, like the early Gatling gun but even that may be too much. Guns that are either cylinder based or single and double fire guns would be more reasonable if not overstepping the boundary. The bottom line for me is that I'm fine with how Heroica is but I would really love to see slight advancements to things in the future, nothing more. As I was typing this, I forget who mentioned aliens but I'll definitely say that would be interesting but people may not agree with having them since they always depicted as small gray humanoid beings with flying saucers and energy-based weapons. However, maybe not all aliens are highly advanced. Last thing, Dwarves are people too! Sure, they may be hairy and love to invent and forge things but they are the rulers beneath the surface!
-
Even something like this? Perhaps something like Matchlocks or Arquebus' would be more suitable? And that is why they are called Hand Cannons.
-
For a "Hand Cannon", would a six-shooter be acceptable or would that been advanced for Heroica?

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Yzalirk replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
When you put it that way, I suppose there are alternatives. Nonetheless, Doppelganger sounds a lot better! I'll actually look at the Mechanic class because that sounds interesting and would be really cool for a Dwarf.
