What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Ritz Brick replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It appears this topic already exists. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7020&st=250 -
Finally bit the bullet and bought the Death Star 10188 before it's gone and on a separate order, got Jek-14's starfighter and the new advent calendar. Getting two clone lieutenants

That's a good point. I feel like the temple would be a one time deal and it would have to be done pretty much perfect, or not done at all. There are just so many different scenes and minifigs that could be added.
-
I feel like if there were to be Jedi Temple set, it would be based around Episode III, that's where I see most of the playability and action stemming from that movie. Library, main hall for Anakin to march down, a landing pad, youngling training room, Jedi council meeting room. The only issue I find would be if they based it on Episode III. There might be overlap with the duel in Palpatines office.

In my second post I explained how to make a small MOC better. I remember when this forum had more people who would critique a MOC for the creator to make it better and we ended up with very well built and detailed MOCS. No one took it as a personal attack. I was just amazed at how many people had nothing suggestive to say.
-
Small MOCS can be extremely detailed. There are many great examples on this site that other members have made. Here is a http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21014 small vignette made by JimButcher, there is no build, but the minifigure placement is superb and accurately depicts a scene that is instantly recognizable. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25461 This MOC by hollisbrick is only 11x11 but it feels much longer, height is a great way to add to a small MOC. This one is probably my favorite, it's very simple and clean looking, but still has a lot of detail. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36172

Thanks for reminding me I should get started on sorting out all of my pieces. Anyway, the first thing that came to mind when I saw the "Fighter" was in the backs of the old Star Wars sets they would have alternate builds for the set, which does almost look fee sable. With the enforcer, I bet a lot more curved brown and tan slopes would really make this ship stand out.It almost reminds me of a flying MTT in a way. If you could incorporate some of those aspects into it, it would help convey the feeling of it being more of a tank-transport.

Okay, I don't want to seem super serious and rude here, but, are you serious? You people think this is a "very detailed and interesting MOC"? All it looks like to me are some bricks and plates on a baseplate with some a couple of minifigures on it. This barely even qualifies as a vignette. 3 of the 7 comments (not including mine) are commenting on the same aspect of the "MOC", the lightsabre through the torso which is one of the most frequently used ways of achieving that effect. I find it hard to believe none of you have seen this. No one has mentioned this MOC in a critical way or constructive way as too make it better, because from what I've read this is the greatest thing that's ever been created. There is no way to tell where these scenes are taking place, the "builds" leave a bit too much to the imagination, why is there a big tub with random plates inside of it with a net on top in front of a control panel? 2 of the clones aren't even technically in the MOC itself. Another thing to mention is the spelling and grammatical errors littering the post and the comments. I can see the poster probably doesn't have English as a first language, but wheres the moderation? I mean there is a spelling error in the title. Surely someone would have had to see it by now.

Does anyone know what is happening with the last line of the Planet Series? Namely Hoth, Alderaan and Endor. They haven't shown up on S@H yet, nor have I heard anything else about their availability.

REVIEW: 75015 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
Ritz Brick replied to Ritz Brick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I would have to agree, just a combination of all 3 would be ideal, something about the new helmets on Boba and Jango seem a bit too cartoonish. -
I had gotten most of the new wave in the mail the other day, built them and then realized the reviews on them weren't here yet. I took the liberty of taking them apart to review them (without the box or bags mind you). Set Informations: Name: Corporate Alliance Tank Droid Set Number: 75015 Pieces: 271 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2013 Price: $19.99 USD $29.99 CDN £19.99 The Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (7748) had already been released in 2009 as just a generic model (no distinguishable planet). But alas 75015 comes rolling in at the Battle of....Geonosis? Yes I know it's seen in the deleted scenes (pictured below) but the only time we see it in the movies is in Episode III at the Battle of Kashyyyk. \ Anyway, on with the review: I threw away the box, but the instructions have the same art, minus the set info. The entire layout is a little strange, the battle droid is shooting nowhere, the tank is heading straight for a rock and Jango Fett bringing up the rear. I'm not the biggest fan of the colour combo, the green and orange. But some people like it. Having 2 bags for this small set seems fairly unnecessary, but less digging around for parts. Contents of Bag 1. Something that surprised me with these parts, 2 bricks! 2 actual bricks! Something we don't usually find in the smaller Star Wars sets. Nothing else really noteworthy other than the 6 grey rods. The cast and crew, I had to buy this set as soon as I saw Jango Fett, he is really a spectacular minifig. His helmet is a pearl grey, as with the torso and jetpack. What looks like silver is actually chrome coloured which really makes him stand out. His armour is very clean unlike his son Boba. I like the new clones, but the extra technic pin on the rifle makes it look a little too long. Our "geonosis battle droid isn't the same as the old stlye one from 2002, it's actually the same colour as the rocket battle droids from the Droid Tri-Fighter. Helmet removed, I wish TLC used a different face for Jango, although he and Boba are the same, this face doesn't remind me too much of Jango. Also, the keen observer will see that Jango has dark blue hands. Jango and the clone, they look a little bit too different for my liking. Backpack! We aren't able to see it on the box, even just one plate makes it look a lot better IMO. End of bage 1 and main body built, it's different from the 2009 version, but still looks the same (if that makes any sense). The bars make for great greebles. Contents of Bag 2. Couple of large discs, unfortunately the large ones are not printed. Oh well. This model has 60 pieces of tread, while the 2009 version has 56, this one is quite longer though. For anyone else building theirs, you should have 3 extra tread pieces. (Save yourself from counting). I love this piece and we get two of them! All the technic dealies make the frame for the tread. Side, cannons and eyes attached, plus flick fires! The eyes are more accurate to the film version. The two pontoons, what I call them. Doesn't make much sense for the sandy surface. Finished model, the accents of trans orange look very good. A bit wide but still imposing. Side profile, it manages to roll fairly well on hard surfaces, but best on the carpet. The back. Here is a comparison between the two of them (this is not my picture credit goes to CapnRex101 of brickset.) http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=6751 That poor clone is ridiculously outnumbered, Overall I like this version more than the older, while it's not as great as an army builder, it's a good set to get just for Jango and another clones. Overall: Build: 8/10 Simple build with nothing too difficult, the eyes can be hard to position the exact way you like. Pieces: 7/10 A few good pieces but I hate how TLC considers all 60 pieces of tread to be their own. Playability: 8/10 This battle is really one sided, but I love rolling this around the carpet, it makes a very satisfying tank sound. Price: 7/10 My comment on the price increases...they aren't going down anytime soon, so mine as well enjoy it for what it is. Minifigures: 9/10 Jango Fett definitely makes up for the fact our battle droid is just orange instead of a tan orange.

I'm curious to know how, where and when Boss Nass could show up in a set.

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Introduction and Discussion
Ritz Brick replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I figured I'd join as the the jolly old Imperial Pilot. I'll upload a picture when I can. -
If that's true I could imagine it being like the old Clone Troopers battlepack where we get 2 501st troopers, some higher rank and a specialized trooper with a speeder bike and a turret type deal.
-
The croissant one is great, I couldn't tell you how many times I've had autocorrect change Coruscant to croissant.
-
I personally would love to see a set that had 4 or 5 of the same clone trooper, but I need to be reasonable, the closest thing to that was the clone walker battle pack (which I did buy 30 or so of). Yes TLC is obviously focusing more on minifigures with the inclusion of so many "new" and "exclusive". But putting as many new ones into sets as they can makes a lot of sense in business way. For example, they could have just made a battle of geonosis set, and put all of the new minifigures in and sold it for a huge price. Or put Poggle the Lesser in with a new Yoda and Dooku, and then Jango Fett with a new battledroid. Just to sell a wider variety of sets.
-
Just 2 days ago you posted another huge list, granted this one is a more revised one, all of these ideas have been "suggested" or "predicted" countless times. Changing a price, or a minifigure doesn't really warrant a whole new set per say. Sorry to be harsh, but this is just useless, it has no name, no minifigures, no suggestions, no nothing. You might as well have just listed "Star Wars sets $19.99-$399.99 with 1-10 minifigures"
-
Is there much point to this thread anymore? It's become people posting lists upon lists of "sets" they want to see, which are more like, an excuse to get a bunch of minifigures that are in more higher priced sets. No one really comments on what anyone else is saying other than "too many minifigures", "too expensive". I think we are all smart enough to know that most of these wild ideas are just that, wild ideas that would (and should) never happen. If you want 5 or 10 of some minifigure, buy 5 or 10 of that set, as that seems to be the direction TLC is heading.
-
that's a good point about the planet sets, we should be seeing Mustafar eventually, hopefully they don't just give us Nute Gunray
-
To me, I see no point in re-doing a Grievous, sure the one we have now is a bit short and cartoonish, but it's only been 3 years since he was released and he still holds up fairly well. The only way we could see a new Greedo would be with a new Cantina set, which may be possible, but if that were to be made, everyone would want the Bith Band, Jawas and all the other characters that are in that scene, which I doubt TLC would add all of those obscure characters. Same with Wat Tambor, we hardly see him in the movie and I think he only has one line. It would be nice to have some Separatist leaders, but he doesn't seem to fit the bill. Adi Gallia might seem a bit to similar to Stass Allie, who we are getting in the new Homing Spider Droid. You could create your own Bespin Luke, there is quite a large selection of torso and legs that would be suitable for him. It seems like we've seen the whole wave of new AOTC sets and there isn't any speeder chase, so Zam Wessel may be cut out, she probably wouldn't have much use outside of the chase though. This may seem all harsh, but you do bring up some good points which have been mentioned before. I could see Tusken Raiders being re-done (I do like the ones we have now though). I would like Kaminoans as well, but like I said before, we've seen most of the AOTC sets with no cloning facility. I could maybe see having a new Jango Fett's Slave 1 being released, a landing platform and a Kaminoan thrown in, in typical TLC style to sell the set. Didn't we just get new 501st troopers? I really would like some new Royal Guards in Captain Panaka style, the last ones we had were in 1999.

Thank you, I agree, couldn't be any harm done having them in there. -
[REVIEW]:Minifig Pack - Star Wars #4 3343
Ritz Brick replied to Ritz Brick's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Making a joke, I grew up using megaphones as blasters. As CopMike says. -
Back again with another classic Minifig Pack review, this time featuring Battle Droids! Not many pictures I could find of this set, so I took quite a few. Set Info: Name: Battle Droids and Command Officer Minifig Pack Number: 3343 Pieces: 30 Minfigures: 3 Year of Release: 2000 Onwards, this one wasn't as ideal for army building since the MTT and AAT were both released in the same year. Front of the box showing our usual information as seen in the 2000 box art. Side of the box shows the usual suspects seen on the front and the cards. All 30 parts layed out. the Cards count as pieces. Here is what the display stands look like. Old dark grey might I add. Classic battle droids with curved arms and megaphones. Here's something we haven't seen on our battle droids in a while. Backpacks! Detail on the commander's head. and front Onto the cards. I digress I never payed much attention to the Phantom Menace so I don't recognize some of these scenes. I appreciate how both battle droids have different cards and information. The whole group together, probably my least favorite of the 4 packs, but nice nonetheless. Final thoughts Battle Droid parts do not age well, I might end up gluing these guys together because most of their joints have cracked. (cheap Trade Federation). All in all, these are nice to collect. Especially for me, back when I was a kid, staring at them in the magazines, knowing I wouldn't be able to get them. Well, look at me now.
