I like this program (easy to use, fast, results look good). Maybe this hint is out of the realm of Cpt. Obvious, but make sure, that you have installed the 64bit version of Java 8 (I assume, that this only works on systems with a 64-bit OS). I updated Java on a computer and via the automatic installation on the Java website I only got the 32-bit one and wondered, why the render process was so slow. Well, I installed the 64-bit version and I got the expected speed. I also tried to make a 360 degree rotation of a MoC (a 1:8 version of the L.M.S. Explorer from LEGO Rock Raiders). It took a while to get it centered without cutting stuff off, but I think, that the result is okay: https://www.youtube....h?v=jI5mtplVLlk edit (after using the search): Okay, iceleftd already noticed the 64bit Java thing back in June 2015 and posted it in this thread. To answer bublible's question, if that happens automatic or not: Apparently you have to do it manually (or having a program, that does it for you). I would recommend a note about this issue/non-issue (I don't know, how prevalent this problem is) in the first post, because it may help some people.

1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer
Arthuriel replied to Arthuriel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
And now it's back in the Action Theme section (Please stay in one section, thread! XD). Maybe that's the problem: it's a spaceship, but it is also part of the Rock Raiders theme ^^. About the scale: Okay, that is understandable, when people don't know, that the original was actually a spaceship in minifig scale and not human scale, although it is still quite big for a Lego ship, when you consider the dimensions (copied from my text): Length: 975 studs/ 773,44 cm/ 304,51 in. Width: 134 studs/ 106,38 cm/ 41,88 in. Height: 133 studs/ 104,93 cm/ 41,31 in. pieces: 57.397 (it's only the hull except for the bridge)- 10 replies

1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer
Arthuriel replied to Arthuriel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yeah, good question, why my 1:1 model is suddenly in the Sci-Fi section now (the other versions are in the Action Theme section). Maybe because it's a relatively good recreation of the original in the pc game LEGO Rock Raiders, but that's just a random guess. Anyway: Thanks for the positive reactions. It may not be the most detailed ship, but I still like the shape and I am also proud of the fact, that the main sources were only two youtube videos with a low quality (240p, although this is also the original video quality).- 10 replies

1:16 and 1:32 scale L.M.S. Explorer
Arthuriel replied to Arthuriel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I couldn't finish the game as a child, too. Only later I was somehow able to beat the game and in recent times anyways (= in the last few years I found some strategies, that made beating the game easier. Thanks RRU :)). There are also some mods available to make the game even harder. I never tried them out, but it sounds like an interesting thing. Back to the game: Another problem is, that Rock Raiders aren't always that smart to put it nicely and when you thought, that you already hated the game enough: it crashes *insert trollface* Here is a small solution for the level, that I hated the most:- 4 replies

1:16 and 1:32 scale L.M.S. Explorer
Arthuriel replied to Arthuriel's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks. I have made four different versions in total, but wait: I have also made even smaller versions, but those ones aren't really intended as serious versions and more as a joke (the smallest one is just a screwdriver XD): http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/5081-132-scale-lms-explorer/- 4 replies

Since I put the varnish only onto the ball joints, it will wear off pretty quickly, when I move them (I tested it out) and I guess, that the rest can easily be removed by my finger nails. In case, that there is still something left: I don't really care, because for the most part I will use the ball joints inside of a MOC.

Thanks. Yeah, those Mixel parts are really useful, although I wished, that they would come in more different colors (like dark grey or black). The tires (inverted and non-inverted) were used, because they look less blocky than regular bricks and hide the technic parts of the arms (I also used black as the main color, because I had many bricks with this color). About the hair: I haven't really thought about the fact, what hair-style it exactly is. I was more like "Okay, what parts could I use for the hair... ...hmm, let's use these ones... ...yeah, looks nice" XD

Beneath my digital MOCs I also built a rather ugly looking werewolf MOC with real bricks three years ago (I uploaded some pictures of it on RRU and Mocpages). A reason for that problem was my lack of useful parts (or rather the lack of those ball joints, that are used in Bionicle and Hero Factory sets). Three years later I wanted to draw people and wondered how to get the perpective and proportions right. Then I remembered, that I had a female wooden mannequin for many years now, which I have never used. The main advantage was, that it actually helped me a bit with getting the perspective and proportions right and that it stayed in its position. The disadvantage was the bad flexibility. After that I thought: "Hmm, I wonder, if I could build a better and more awesome looking version out of Lego. I just need some newer sets to have more parts". Well, here is the result: Electra. The flexibility is higher, but the stability is much lower (therefore I have to use acrylic varnish on the ball joints). I still had some part restrictions, but compared with my 2011 MOC I made quite some progress. After four months and ~800 bricks the project is now (hopefully) finished (but getting proportions etc. right was an annoying job) and it looks like I ended up with a gynoid, that you could put into a Sci-Fi setting (IN SPACE of course), instead of having a simple lego figurine, but who needs boring stuff anyway? ^^ About the part restriction thing again: I used 9 different ball joint bricks for this MOC, but 6 of them were small ball joints and therefore I had only 3 different bricks for the bigger ball joints left. I didn't/don't own any Bionicle or Hero Factory sets either, which made the job of building organic shapes harder. And yes: Quite a few Mixel sets had to die for Electra ;) [2015-10-15]: I uploaded a better picture on flickr a few days ago and I also added a logo: Electra by Arthuriel Aurillion, auf Flickr

[i combined two threads from rockraidersunited to make this post/topic more compact.] What contains 1178 pieces and looks like the LMS Explorer? If you guessed something but the 1:16 LMS Explorer, you we're wrong. I thought a long time about the idea of building an even smaller version of the LMS Explorer, because more people would be able to recreate it at home due to the lower piece count (things like the lack of some teal bricks are still a problem though). It was a bit difficult to integrate some details (this version has its flaws) and the 1:16 version doesn't look near as good as the 1:8 version, but I hope, that you still enjoy it. [2015-11-23]: I made new pictures with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):

[As promised in my 1:1 scale L.M.S. Explorer thread this is one of the smaller L.M.S. Explorer models] In January 2012 I thought, that it would be a funny idea to build a smaller version of the L.M.S. Explorer, which could actually be build without owning the inventory of several Lego Stores ;) (turns out, that it's still impossible, because those cheese-slopes and other parts aren't produced in some colors like teal etc.). The result is the "Mini" L.M.S. Explorer. pieces: 5320 (aargh, so many small pieces^^). My latest version has ~5000 pieces (I eliminated some smaller flaws and exchanged smaller parts with bigger ones to reduce the brick count). building time: hmm, maybe 30 to 50 hours (changes not included) scale: not exactly 1:8 but very close to it (~1:8,25) (compared to my 1:1 scale version of the LMS Explorer, which is 975 studs long) construction program: LDD (but I have converted the model into ldr (MLCAD) and lcd (LeoCAD) files, too) dimensions: Length: 116 studs/ 91,36 cm/ 35,97 in. Width: 17 studs/ 13,49 cm/ 5,31 in. Height: 16 studs/ 12,70 cm/ 5,00 in. [2015-11-23]: I made a new picture with another render program (personally I prefer the new result):

Today I thought, that I should share this spaceship here, because despite its flaws (it may look a bit boring and repetitive) I think, that it's still a pretty decent ship, which fits into this part of the forum (here are already some Rock Raider MOCs). This post is similar to the one, that I have made on rockraidersunited, but without the development of rather bad pictures to pictures, that I have made in POV-Ray etc. XD, but since I haven't uploaded all pictures on flickr yet, there is still some stuff in the rru-thread, that isn't here (like a separate model of the bridge): http://www.rockraide...file-available/ I will also post 4 other MOCs (3 smaller LMS Explorer models and one action-figure MOC) on eurobricks :).
