  1. I'm probably lacking some of the more suitable bits to make good steampunk just yet, but, would seem logical for me to get hold of some. Perhaps I'll be back in a few months with a creation of my own. :)
  2. Ok, so I actually feel like I learned some stuff from taking a good look at this build. Really cool stuff! I love the different textures, way you've used certain bricks, and the way you've mixed up the angles of things with SNOT. Very, very funky. MstrOfPpts comment about the rope part is one I have to agree with though, it's not quite gelling with the amazing look the rest of the scene has for me either. Brilliant build regardless.
  3. I think it has activated. Thanks for the advice. Looking forward to getting involved with this and doing my part for the cause! :D
  4. Oh this is great. I hadn't really considered steampunk Lego until recently, but, I'm seeing some stunning examples in this forum. :)
  5. Have to agree with the others, the tank is really great. There's a lot to like about all of them actually, but, I do feel that the netting part on the balloon isn't quite in keeping with the feel of the rest of the models. I wonder if something more in style could be made with bricks or tubing?
  6. So, assuming this competition isn't an April Fools joke :) a question that I don't think has an answer lurking elsewhere. 48x48 is the width and depth right? Is it also the height, or, can it be taller?
  7. Ah, thanks BEAVeR. That's something I hadn't realised. Well, I have no idea what counts as a good post, but I've always tried very hard to avoid spammy posts on any previous forums I've been a member of, so, hopefully I'm doing ok! Is the activation of PMs an automated thing that will just happen or do I need to contact anyone?
  8. Just requested joining in on the intro page. I'd like to take part in this and have a few ideas for different sectors, but, if anyone wants to PM me and request a specific zone I'll be happy to get in on that. :)
  9. I'd like to join as a Stormtrooper please! :) I guess I'll go with that for my avatar right now. I may change that later though, as I've not really decided on what I want my forum avatar to be. Hopefully that's ok. :)
  10. Yeah, the throne was a bit more of an afterthought and I had a slightly limited selection of bricks, so, it's not quite as in keeping with the look as Jabba himself. Perhaps I'll do a rebuild some time in the future. Right now though, the Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka challenge has caught my eye, so, I may have to register. :)
  11. Couldn't get to sleep last night and had just Skyped with my girlfriend where she was messing about with a crocheted Jabba the Hutt she has. I was feeling a bit left out, so I made this for myself. :)
  12. Thanks for the welcomes and the positive feedback folks. :) Steel Tiger - Once I get more spare bricks I'll be able to smooth things out a lot more. For now I'm limited by the bits that I have. Need to work out if the best way to get extras is through sets or just buying bricks.
  13. Hello! This is my first post on these forums so I hope I do ok. When I was a kid I played with Lego a lot, but, for a long time it's remained a happy memory. Well, no more! Since the start of 2013 I bought various Minifigs, my girlfriend got me the Shellob LoTR set on my birthday and we recently bought the Simpson's house which we are slowly building together. I had so much fun with all that, I knew I had to treat myself, so, I got a Death Star kit to play about with! It was fun to build it following the instructions, but, I soon dismantled it to make some stuff of my own. Totally freestyling it and putting bits together without a plan, I managed to end up with this. :) It's made with just the Death Star kit as I don't have extra spares. There are a few additional Minifigs added, but that's it. So, I believe this is my first MOC for about 20 years. Don't think it will be my last! Front view of the entire moonbase. The moonbase prepares to fire. The evil Lord Doom at the helm, ready to lay waste to any unfortunates who get in his way! The sensor array scans for another target. Opening it up to show the main power-core. The top level worker and Lord Doom have jetpacks to quickly zoom around and check systems and readouts. Another angle of the interior with side modules removed. A back view of the station, showing its Commander. Another back view The secondary power coil, which creates the deadly radioactive energy blasts the planetkiller can fire. Trapped inside is Lord Doom's prisoner, The Beast, who comes from a species immune to the deadly radioactivity. He dreams of escape! Lord Doom smirking away as the moonbase locks onto a target. In his cell The Beast reluctantly powers up the radioactivity beam while a guard watches from above. Views of just the main module (I made it in three bits for ease of movement and to show off The Beast's cell better) and the little latch for holding the front together.
