LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
brickmack replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting idea. Might have to try it. Personally I have trouble feeling the bags, and when I can feel, it usually takes several minutes to determine what's in each bag (and even then I'm only right about 80% of the time). So I think it would make things much easier. -
Awesome buggy. The detailing looks wonderful, and the skull on the front is a nice addition. A bit of dark orange/brown for rust would make it a lot better though, since it is supposed to be post-apoc. Interesting fig too.

Could be used in a more "adult oriented" theme, like the modular buildings. Of course, the set would probably be out of stock within days, having such a large quantity of rare-colored bricks.
-
Welcome to EB. Hopefully you'll like it here. Nice monorail also, got anymore pictures of that somewhere?
-
I like it. Good striping all over. I wish the side panels weren't separated from the rest of the speeder by a plate, it would make the curves match up a lot better I think. Nice that you included headrests also, those are a commonly overlooked feature. Might be needed to avoid swallowing any bugs?

Near-infinite LEGO supply, and a SLIDE? I'm starting to reconsider my derision not to try and get a job there.
-
Meh... Just overpriced paper with a LEGO logo stamped on it. Not useful for me, most of my designs aren't LEGO related at all, and usually end up getting ripped up, crumpled, and covered in drink stains quite quickly. And the embedded plates seem useless....

Same here. Right now I have partially disassembled MOCs, a half-disassembled set, an unopened set (which I just got the parts), most of the parts from a recent Bricklink order, and all of the leftover parts from every MOC I've made in the last month, totaling close to 2000 parts, all on a table waiting to be sorted. Gonna take a while...
-
Personally I've never been able to find a good tool for this either. I just remember what all parts I've bought and in what quantities.
-
I really dread sorting, so I have to keep myself from doing other stuff. I put away any WIP stuff, toss my video games in a box, and turn off my computer, so there is nothing else to do. Then I put Star Trek on, and watch a few seasons while I sort. Fortunately I no longer spend much time sorting, since it's all done except 2 or so gallons of parts, most of which are parts I only have 1 or 2 of and/or rarely use, so sorting them isn't as much of a priority. Generally I won't sort any parts separately unless I have at least 10 of a specific part, or know that I will need them for a MOC.

I'm not from LEGO or anything, but just about any electronics part is going to cost a lot more to make than normal parts. They are bigger, made from more individual parts (which also have to be assembled at the factory), and the electronics themselves are more expensive to produce than plastic. The same applies to the electronic parts in Mindstorms NXT sets, though on a larger scale due to the larger size of parts, greater complexity of the electronics, etc. I do agree with your idea for more sets with optional PF addons, that was one of the best features of the Crystal Reaper.

Midi Star Destroyer under attack! The Rebels arrived...

Lovely builds. The Nebulon-B is my favorite, great use of that click-hinge on the back and the pirate hooks. -
Many of the themes that came out before I first started getting LEGO (2007) I regret not getting, particularly the Life on Mars, Batman, and several others. I also never got any Indiana Jones, and very few Fantasy Castle sets. And I never got any Hero Factory sets (Not a big fan of the sets themselves, but I have seen some great uses of the new parts).

I like it. The [dark?] tan one is my favorite. Would look good on a space-farm or something.

What's the Biggest and Smallest Lego Piece of All Time?

Either coins or flowers. -
something I never understood about lego console games
brickmack replied to lockdownTF's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My guess is that either that feature didn't get very good reviews, despite a few people liking it, or perhaps it's just a difficult feature to include for whatever reason, so they stopped doing it. -
Wow. LEGO sculptures always interest me, the use of little more than basic bricks and plates to create such organic forms. I'm a bit surprised that the flag isn't made out of LEGO, presumably the entire thing is glues (eliminating stability issues), so it should be a trivial matter to build a brick-built flag for him...

Oh. Hopefully it is then. Too bad I wont be around to see it, hopefully there is a repeat soon. -
Wonderful unicorn. The design of the head and legs are particularly interesting.
-
I like the fantasy troll better, it more closely resembles my childhood ideas of what a troll would look like. The HP troll is just weird looking... It would be nice if both had moveable legs though. Heh, I kinda agree with that (Up until I notice the big club) If I remember correctly, 500 posts is the limit before you can add polls to your topics.

Mom & Pop stores - higher prices worth it?
brickmack replied to gratefulnat's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same here. Closest thing to an independent toy store here is a store that sells old used stuff. There is a lot of old LEGO there though, so I get stuff there occasionally. -

I think it's definitely worth spending a bit extra to buy from these sorts of places. I'm not certain what the economic situation in Switzerland is like right now (though I'm guessing not terribly good, like most of the world right now), but I know here in America a lot of people, particularly small business owners, are struggling to make money. So, you help keep the store open by getting stuff there. Since they have such old sets (Assuming they haven't massively increased the prices with time), it's probably cheaper to buy older stuff there than online. Also, you won't have to wait for shipping, which is another bonus. -

Megafactories and Ultimate factories are the same, just different names for different countries I think. Here is the link to it on Youtube, it was on a few years ago as Megafactories. -
I'm currently reading the Sherlock Holmes series. Good so far. I'm on he second in the series.

Nice. I like the chair technique on the sides, though as Frank Brick Wright said, it is a bit too vertical. Might still have to find a use for it.
