  1. I think that the medal table David used is out dated as Britain have 6 gold medals now after our haul yesterday (we got 5 golds!) For a more updated table check out my link as it is edited daily. Jon.

    Swimming

Another swimming medal for Britain today. David Davies won bronze in the 1500m freestyle, he was 2 seconds behind the American winner (forgotten his name!) and he beat his own personal best by 12 seconds!! I would be almost dead if I swam 1500m in that time! These guys are good! Jon.
  4. Made it sober and put it in a pen as far away from any alcohol as possible! Jon.
  5. Actually we need him to control us! So we don't go off topic! :P Jon.

    Rowing

Today Matthew Pinsent has won his fourth Olympic gold medal (from consecutive games). The British coxless four beat world champions Canada in a very close Olympic rowing final. The British team, Pinsent, James Cracknell, Ed Coode and Steve Williams were level with Canada for the last 500 metres but just held on by about 10 inches on the line to claim the gold medal. Also for the women, Katherine Grainger and Cath Bishop won the women's coxless pair rowing silver medal. And, in the women's doble sculls, Sarah Winckless and Elise Laverick grabbed the bronze. Lots of good news for Britain today, 3 medals all from rowing.. looks like we are doing better now. Jon.
  7. Sorry, I wasn't trying to say we can manage without you, go away!! I was just saying that without your "back on toipic" attitude, I had to step in once or twice so we coped!! Jon.
  8. Yay! Finally you are here! I was just about to rename the thread "away for a few months"! You were missed but we just about managed without your "dominating" presence! :P Just kidding. Its great to have you back Apo! Jon.

    Swimming

Ahem.. in Apo's absence I think I had better say the 3 vital words.. BACK ON TOPIC!! :P Today Michael Phelps won his 5th gold in the 100m butterfly, he still has the chance to win one more though. At the start he had the chance for 8 but he got bronze in the 4x100m freestyle and 200m. Now heres a bit of olymipic history for you! Mark Spitz has won the most swimming golds at one Games, he got seven gold at Munich in 1972. Jon.
  10. Chris Hoy has won Gold (Britain first cycling medal) in the 1-km time trial, creating a new Games record. He finished the four laps of the velodrome in one minute 00.711 seconds, smashing the old Olympic record which Jason Queally of britain did in Sydney. Now Britain had 2 golds.. but we got some more chances to come. Jon.
  11. The picture doesn't seem to be working for me, but I have seen the film trailer and it looks quite funny. I think it is a spoof of the marvel comic "The incredible 4", it seems simaler to me. Jon.
  12. Maybe earth will become covered in Sand and we will become a desert planet like tatoine. Then we will have podracing and moisture farms and palace's for giant slugs and salaac pits and... What the hell am I on about?? Jon.
  13. lol And I thought Apo was an alcoholic! :P Jon.

    Swimming

I thought that the continent was called Oceania, which is made up of Australia, New Zeland and some other small islands surrounding them. Jon.
  15. Denmark won a secured bronze medal in the 3rd place final, as Jonas Rasmussen and Rikke Olsen lost 2-0 to the other Danish pair Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager. They won both sets 15-5. We did well to get silver and at least we beat DoubleT... I mean Denmark! :P Jon.
  16. We played against the Chinese pai today in the final and came soo close to getting gold. First set was terrible, 15-1 to China, but we came back and won the second 15-12. The last one was so close we were winning for most of it but it ended with some great play by both teams but China won 15-12. Well, it was always going to be hard to beat the world champions but at least we have won another silver medal. Jon.
  17. Shirley Robertson, Sarah Webb and Sarah Ayton have won the women's yngling sailing gold medal. This is our first gold medal of the competition but lets hope we get some more. Jon.
  18. Looks like a tie between the AT-AT, Republic Gunship and cloud city so far. As some say, save the best one till last.. so this prooves cloud city is the best! :D If only Apo was here, his vote counts for everything! Jon.
  19. You're right Jipay.. Currently the standings are: 1. China - 12 gold 8 sliver 5 bronze (25 total) 2. United States - 10 gold 10 silver 9 bronze (29 total) 3. Japan - 8 gold 3 sliver 2 bronze (13 total) 4. Australia - 6 gold 4 silver 6 bronze (16 total) 5. Ukraine - 5 gold 1 sliver 1 bronze (7 total) Then we have... 6. Germany - 4 gold 2 silver 5 bronze (11 total) 9. France - 3 gold 3 sliver 4 bronze (10 total) 24. Great Britain - 0 gold 2 silver 4 bronze (6 total) 42. Denmark - 0 gold 0 silver 1 bronze (1 total) Finland are not on the medal table yet as the haven't won anything! But I'm sure things will change for all countries soon. We start the athletics in a few days. Come on Britain! Jon.
  20. The british mixed doubles, Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson, beat the Danish pair in the first semi final today (he he doubleT! :P). They won both sets.. 15-6 and 15-12. We have got at least silver but this is our chance to get our first gold. We play China, who beat the other Danish pair, in the final. Looks like Denmark will be getting a Bronze definately. Jon.

    Swimming

I was pretty sure it was a world record. After a bit of internet searching I've found it. He broke his own world record by 0.15 seconds to win the 400 metres individual medley in 04:08:26 seconds. That was his first Gold medal on Sunday. I hope we see some more records beaten. Jon.

    Drugs...

I am, in a way, referring to the recent uproar about the two Greek athletes who missed a drugs test, resulting in them both pulling out of the olympics. It was very strange that they were later involved in a motor-bike accident which meant they could not be tested. I don't know whether they had taken drugs or not but the circumstances are strange. I think that using drugs for sport is not a good thing to do. I mean, why ruin your body just to make you sprint a little bit faster when you are already a great athlete?? You could acheive much more if you tried your best and worked hard to improve, not by taking sport enhancing drugs. So what are your views? Do you think it is good or bad? Jon.

    Swimming

Yeah, I saw him in one of the events.. can't remember which, I think it was Medley. He was at least 5 metres in front of all the others and he even broke the world record (by about 0.5 seconds!) He had the chance to win 8 gold medals at the start but now he has lost a few of the chances, I reckon he will get 4 or maybe 5. He is a great swimmer, specially since he is so young. As you said, he will be around for the next few olympics.. but will he be better then? Or is he at his prime now? Jon.
  24. Yes, of course! Cloud city was the first revolutionary Lego set! Jon.
