This has been taken from Sky News. Lego has been voted the most popular toy of the past 100 years. Generations of children have constructed everything from miniature homes and racing cars out of the plastic building blocks. Even Buckingham Palace has been lovingly recreated. Almost a third of 2,000 adults questioned said Lego was the must-have toy of the past century. Lego even beat computer games and consoles, which took 14% of the vote. The YouGov survey was commissioned by the Museum of Childhood in London to mark the start of an exhibition of toys through the generations. A museum spokeswoman said: "With Lego, play is open-ended. You can do so much with it, it's up to you whether you build something simple or very detailed. "Lego has evolved over time with many different styles and sizes, from Duplo for toddlers to Bionicles in the seven-plus age group." Third place in the poll were teddy bears with 9%, Meccano (8%), train sets (7%) and bicycles (6%). The remainder of the top 10 included Barbie dolls, Rubik's Cube and Action Man. Once again Lego has come out top, and it is great that it beat computer games as it shows more people are interested in using their imagination. Jon.

Hi, Just wanted to let you all know that I got the Holiday catalog today. Maybe you already have it or it will be on its way to you. Nothing much new in here. Theres the advent calendars and brick built christmas figures. Then the designer sets and some technic trucks. The there is 6 pages of star wars, again nothing new but there is a millenium falcon t-shirt??! and the ISD and cloud city are both still there. .. Alpha team .. Spiderman .. Clikits .. Belville .... and on But then we have some old keyrings. There are 5 star wars keyrings; Pilot luke, Vader, Yoda, Darth maul and Stormtrooper. I think that most of these are available on s@h but not ususally in the catalog. There is some KK with the new (well, kinda new) large King Mathias fig. After that there is the new creator house set, which looks very interesting. There is also the new black x-pod (I want this!! :oD ) and is also lists the red and yellow ones as well (most likely because they are the least popular) That is basically it, apart from some nice duplo sets, the duplo knight castle looks very good, better than the system one. It finishes with the airport and on the back it has locomotive train. So, there is my small summary :P for those who don't have the catalog yet. Now we can look forwards to the great sets next year! Well, it looks like it will be a good year next year for lego. These sets say to me that lego is going back to some old roots and producing some more town themed sets. These certainly look interesting, it will be good to see what the farm and post office are like. Erm.. are these like the big bionicle style figures that we saw this year? I cannot think what else they copuld be, except single minifig packs. Thanks alot Sam for all the infomation, and that Assualt tank looks great.. can't wait for episode 3. Jon.

So, it hasn't been too great a year I guess. But there has been a few good things that seem to have stood out to me. Yes the designer line is a great idea, and especially sets like the tubs which come with a mix of parts which is good fun and also a challenge to build things. The re-release of some more great classics helps to keep the older AFOL community alive, meaning it brings back memories from years ago. And finally, the general bonding between AFOL and TLC helps to keep us all happy. Now that they are listening to us lego fans more we are seeing more of what we want. This has not made a great difference yet but I'm sure it will get better in the future. So lets hope the next few years are good for both of us. Jon.

Looks good Apo. I like the face and also the arms movement. I hope to see more pictures though. As for the gummi bears, well in Germany you must have something different. Because in the UK we have gummy bears which are small gummy sweets. Mmmmm.. they are very nice but they dont dance or whatever the German ones do. The music on the web page freaked me out! :oo

Looks like a good choice of pieces in these sets, I am sure they will sell well. Like most of you I think the car set looks great, but the plane and robots look alright as well. Man, they are all good! But I don't know if I will buy them all.. when wil they be out? Christmas time do you think? Jon.

(struggles to find a word here) Even if it is for GBA it still looks terrible. >-| As David said, lego games suck.. bionicles suck, KK2 suck, those megablock little creator kinda mystery island games suck.. but star wars is a different matter. I will not be getting this game of course, 1) I don't own a GBA 2) Even though it is meant to be KK2 (which is slightly castle based) I bet there is plently of guns, lasers and space things in there. Well, what can I say? It is great to see that this is finished and it sure is amazing. Very nicely built, and looks great like your corner wall. I like the landscape and the wall is well constructed too, the windows and pillars on the top and on the towers are a great touch. Do you still have your corner wall? As they are in the same scale can they connect some how? Jon.
