2004 - Good or Bad year for the Star Wars line?
jonfett replied to DoubleT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I thought that the original x-wing (7140/7142) was great, it is one of my favourite sets! But there was no need to re-release it in a different colour.. just to include a small hut :/ Again, same with the ties.. they have had a few minor changes and pieces added to them. Probably changes that Lego fans could do themselves. But IMO, the snowspeeder needed changing. It has a better cockpit, includes the harpoon, the wings are slightly better and I like the colours on the new one better. It also seems a little smaller, but not to much. Jon. -
Guys, why are you complaining?? We are getting another tie!! :oD But I would guess that these sets will be a bit more expensive if they all come with lightsabers. And, if they are like what we have heard.. that there will be a hole in the box with "Try Me!" on them, then most of them won't light up as kids will constantly do it and waste the battery. ..unless, the lightsabers energy is controlled by the force meaning it will have unlimited power!! :P Jon.

Welcome to eurobricks! Hope you enjoy posting here, we usually have a laugh.. or two ;) Jon.

Hmmm.. this seems fishy to me! |-D But the guy at the top is too thin and not hairy enough to be PJ. Oh, and what the hell is up with that fish?? :P Jon.
-
I am working on that at the moment, I had to just use some plates to keep them standing up as they kept falling over. But I am currently modifying it so there will be a whole baseplate underneath. Again, I am working on it! ;) Jon.

They look great John! The different colours really work well and I like how you did the horns on rudolph. Maybe you could make a little diorama with the sleigh on a snowy roof with santa down a chimney? Jon.

I think he meant the gallery was not yet public. But it seems fine now. Thses castle sets are much better than KK2 IMO, if only we could have got these instead of the mulitcoloured freaks! Jon.

Thanks! I agree that there are not enough orks. I have about 30 or so but I will try to get some more, maybe 50-100 if I can get (or afford) the parts!

Ok, here it is. The battle pics are finally up, I apologise for the long wait, the quality of the pictures and the fact that I have no more to say. ;) Folder http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=107395 Deep Links http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonfett/...ttle/battle.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonfett/...le/battle_8.jpg Enjoy! :) Jon.

Ah yes, Edna was very funny.. such a petite little person! I found it amusing when she explained about all the suits.. "now they are also machine washable!" :P Jon.

That looks good John, the sleigh is full with nice colourful presents which is good. Maybe some of them are lego! As for the reindeer, I found a couple of good ones on Brickshelf. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=105184 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=76170 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=23905 It would be nice to see something like these. Or maybe you could just use brown horses with some horns on them, to attach them to the head you could oen of these. I would love to see what you do! Jon.

Ok, so this topic doesn't have anything to do with the new sets or anything like that. I just saw this render on Brickshelf - http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....y.cgi?i=1014122 And it reminded me of something. I searched through my Lego and found this bus, which I got from my dad which he had as a child. It just made me think that Lego sets years ago were very basic but still very good, whereas now we have some lines which have basically have new molded pieces in every set. People are always saying Lego should go back to its roots and I think that lines such as the new city for '05 are doing this. So basically I am just happy that Lego is releasing sets like these and bringing memories for those who owned the old fire and police sets. Go Lego!! ;) Jon.

I just saw this film today. I thought it was very good, the animation was excellent (Pixar films always are though) The story was funny and worked well, some of the jokes seemed to be aimed at an older audience, although the cinema I was in was packed with kids. The ending left a little room for a sequel but I don't know if it would work. I would like to see one though. Overall a great film, I think my favourite part/character was the Ice dude (forgotten his name already!) who you can see in the top corner of the pic. Jon.

And who's fault is this? Well, you must have used every offensive word possible! It is too hard to keep you from swearing.. :/ Jon. -
Looks good! I like how you have done the drawbridge mechanism, and the whole structure looks great. Hope yo do well in the CC contest, I have still got to take pics of my entries. Jon.

I don't think we will see any real quatro sets. As they are so big then it would be hard (and expensive) to create sets. I think we will just see packs/tubs of bricks. Jon.
-
Yes, that would be good, we have a nice range already. Like pumpkin :^^ tusken raider :X: spiderman X:D and skeletons :^D :^^D Maybe we could have some HP skin toned? :f) Jon.

It is hard to tell as the truck picture is too far away from the car, but I think you are right. If you add in the back head of the car (which is removed on the truck set) then they are quite similar. It just looks a little too thin to me. Jon.
-
We had 2 this year.. - 1:24 scale - http://www.brickset.com/search.aspx?Set=8362-1 - slightly smaller car which came with the pit stop - http://www.brickset.com/search.aspx?Set=8375-1 I think that the one with the truck is a new one. It looks the same length, but thinner than the 1:24. Jon.

It would be good to see some star wars smilies, although we don't want to do everything that FBTB does. Maybe we, well Apo!, could create some different ones, instead of the ones that they have. But Apo has dones a great job already on the Lego smilies! :) Jon.

Well, we are getting alot of news lately. I think the designer line up for '05 looks almost as good as world city. We really will have a great year! Jon.
-
Wow, very nice job there. The head is sculpted very well and I love the tentacles. The head band looks neat next to the head as well. One things though, I guess you designed the torso yourself.. well it looks a little wonky to me, like she is a little lop-sided! ;) One side bigger than the other! But you have done great once again. Jon.

Most of you have mentioned change in the Alpha team sets, I agree. Before they were minifig sets with small viechles and based around secret operations and such, now they are more like transformers and large.. well, Mecha things. Change is good, but these seemed to have changed too much, IMO. Jon.
-
hehe, only twice! ;) I really like the Ferrari F1 Team Truck, you get 10 minfigs which will be great to build up a pit team. Is the car the same as the one which came with the pit stop st or is it the 1:24 scale? Jon.
