Ahem... excuse me but when did MF ever release a second wave? If by that you mean the Haunted House that's a long stretch. That single theme will CLEARLY outlast this joker "three waves within one year" theme. Hate to say it... but I told you all so. The only way AR works is if ALL the basic pieces are there, at least, to build and play with the set independent of the AR. We knew AR worked well before HS... Pokemon Go proved that. HS doesn't win any accolades for contributing to AR... if anything it gets swept under a rug, forgotten about, and a theme that sells poorly in the secondary market that no one wants except for the sake of feeling important and being a completeness (aka Galidor).

I remember the video game era of the '90s, specifically the fighting game era, and just recalling rumors about Mortal Kombat... about Ermac, Reptile as a playable character in MK1, etc... rumors are not always based on "insider information" or actuality - many are based on ill-conceived fan assumptions.

Please... not these "Lego stole from this or that" again, especially as it relates to Ghostbusters. Stranger Things had the little dude as a ghostbuster first, not to mention and as already stated above, Ghostbusters and Scooby Doo came way before the craptastic of a theme.

Not when LEGO jumped the gun and already made the sets in the first place. I don't know if you've been paying attention to their corporate literature but LEGO is desperate and not in very good shape right now.

Hate to say it but I called it! I said HS would be a fad theme and will lose relevance after the app expired, not to mention the slew of problems already discussed among us AFOLS. Had the sets been built more solid and less app-dependent it would have had a viable chance. Unfortunately LEGO invested too much money into an idea that business analysts said was a failure from the start and they are forcing themselves to release this junky Wave 2 to save face and make back all the money lost on this theme. The school would be way better if it were bigger. It's way too crowded, something LEGO has been doing. Bring back the Simpsons House or Haunted House. As for people saying MF won't age well... um, you do know most of our horror films from which MF derived are from the "gothic 30s" era right? I didn't like the steampunk component for that theme but it was still a solid monster theme where its rooms in its buildings or vehicles weren't crowded. All HS ever was is a way for LEGO to try and capture this Pokemon Go craze. Only in a safer way since the ghosts are in the set and they don't have to go outside looking for ghosts. Plus... and I have noticed this with LEGO... I feel like they will be getting the license back for the new Ghostbusters movie sets (Playmobil has it now) and they wanted a theme to carry interest into it. MF was actually more of a carry-over theme for Scooby Doo, since if you look at the original designs for the MF theme, it pretty much was Scooby Doo. Unfortunately those wacky color schemes don't mesh well with MF's seagreen colors.

How whem me and a lot of other people have said its a mod of the Scooby Doo lighthouse.

Disappointing. I was hoping the Fair would be decent but am turned away. The lightjouse looks to be a solid build but practically the same one from Scooby Doo. I'll likely buy the tree portal for my forest. Not convinced yet on Ghost Fair.

I can say that I am way more hyped for a few HS sets from the 2020 leaks than I am for 2019. The animated shorts I've seen are better than the sets. From poor box art design to there being a lot of things that don't make any sense (like the photo lab set) without having the app to fully understand it. I thought it was another Frankenstein set and realized it's a monster invading a ghost lab with 3D printing. Add to the fact these kids (the minifig kids) use their phones to zap ghosts in the real world... it's way too Pokemon Go for me. It's trying to be some kind of mashup of Stranger Things / Ghostbusters with a high school theme, not quite like Monster High but close. It doesn't do the trick. For the 2020 sets to work, they must be fully independent of the app. I mean they can include the interaction sticker but don't add things to the set (like the entire back of the ghost lab) that have no explanation to someone just looking at the set. That's why I really love the juice bar set. It stands alone great. You can leave it as a juice bar... and anyone knows it's at least a food booth. You can turn it into its haunted/spooky self... and to the lay person it looks possessed. But the "Ghost Lab?" Is it supposed to be a room for the high school because that'll be about the only thing that made sense for it. The graveyard doesn't even look like a graveyard. I still have the Zombies set from MF and the original Graveyard Duel from Harry Potter - those are graveyards. That is just a joke. The high school is crammed with too much in such little space. I know it's to save money but holy cow, give me some Leo bricks with my Lego accessories. The school bus... too bulky although I'm aware it's used to hunt ghosts. The diner looks like a shrimp shack I ran into on the north shore of Hawaii. Not someplace you really want to stop at. These are just a few examples of how the first wave fails. The second wave, with finally mixing a circus theme with horror, shows promise.

Nice try but unless you got it free with a promotion the only other way to buy it is from Ebay and it's very genuine.

I really think Lego jumped the gun with planning Hidden Side as a success and began producing a second wave before giving the first wave a chance. Monster Fighters went on sale around this time despite being released months earlier than anticipated and despite some fans insisting it was a popular line, business shows otherwise, and it was one of the most overstocked themes in 2012. I've noticed one of my local Wal-Marts moved all the Hidden Side sets off the shelves and into a hidden standup display to make it look as if Hidden Side sets were selling out. Given the general income for this area, it would definitely seem unlikely, especially on a theme so dependent on an app that requires a very expensive phone to begin with. Bottom line - Lego sets are toys, not apps. When the app is far better than the sets, that is a problem. The "ghosts" in each set are cheap 2D representations of actual 3D spooks that would have really enhanced the sets. Add to the wacky color variety and weird piece selection and design and the whole thing looks like a repeat of Time Cruisers with Fright Knights and Ninjago Ghosts. Not to mention it is a total ripoff of Stranger Things, whose set itself is laughable.
