  1. I like how the wheels are large, pulling attention towards them, which indicates that this is a racer. And you get lots of points for choosing the modern Scania chassis and not the old one which is much easier to build. Looking forward to that video.
  2. Thanks. When it comes to windscreens there usually are 4 options: - You can choose a car where one of LEGO's pieces fit (I have done this on my S2000, GTs and Solstice) - Leave the space empty. I don't like building in this style. Other builders pull it off nicely, but I have some aversion against doing it myself :) - Build the windows. This often results in opaque surfaces like on this car - Cheat and make your own piece. I'm too much of a purist to do this. The arms of Shawn have the right length, being normal hinge plates. Having the crossing arms of Gus was more of a challenge. Unfortunately there isn't enough room for 1x1 tiles with clip on top, which could resemble hands, nor is there space for 1x2 plates with hinge mechanism. Using 1x1 pricks and plates would make his arms too thick, so I ended up with this compromise. I'm open for better ideas.
  3. The poll is mostly for people who don't want to write a full reply, but still want to voice their opinion. You just have to choose the single most used reason By the comments in this thread, it seems that most MOCs stay without comments because they fall into themes with little interest. A new question would thus be. What could persuade you to comment on a MOC in a field that falls out of your normal scope?
  4. I have updated the first post with new figures in the correct scale (1:25) and building instructions.
  5. It happens from time to time that I post a MOC in here that receives only one or very few comments. Instead of being angry/sad/leaving, I want to get to the core of why some creations attract very little feedback, and thus find out what can be done better. So. Fellow Eurobricker. Please take a glimpse of some MOCs in your favourite category in here, find one and tell me why you don't want to comment on it. If you are uncomfortable about taking a specific MOC, then use my Echo as an example. You have my permission :-) If your answer is something like 'the MOC doesn't interest me', then please tell me what could be done to make it interesting for you. Add a video, instructions, or whatever you think. I have added a poll where you can give your most commonly used reason for not commenting. Hopefully we might learn something and start presenting MOCs that create more feedback :-)
  6. Well spotted. The characters are in scale 1:22 with the car being scale 1:25. The neck and shirt on my scale 1:25 Shawn ended up not looking very good, so I decided to make them both larger. Update I have finally made my figs work out in scale 1:25 as well and made instructions for them. I will update the first post once I have new pictures.
  7. Having built the Euro version Toyota Yaris, it was quite straight forward to build the NA Toyota Echo Hatch. And why not throw a pop-culture reference in with it as well? Let me present my latest creation. A first generation Toyota Echo Hatch and the stars of the show Psych, Shawn Spencer and Ernesto Agapito Garces con y a de Abelar, better known as Gus. The North American Echo is distinguished from the European Yaris by the longer front bumper. The longer bumper allowed for a better looking front, better sculpted windscreen and... ... This time the hood opens as well! Inside there's a rear bench seat, front seats, gear lever and steering wheel. With 32 cheese slopes on a length of 16 studs the cheese-factor is 2. Want to build your own? Then follow this link to the building instructions: Brickshelf gallery with additional pictures.
  8. >nico71 He is most likely responding to one or more trolls who have shown him your creation and made some unsubstantiated claims about it.
  9. I have seen his model, but unfortunately those comments make me not want to study his design any further. Fortunately there are others who have improved my design and whose work I will look into.
  10. This is a nice speedometer. Well done. (I'm used to calling the gauges in a car the speedometer and rev-counter, while confusing the odometer for the tachometer!)
  11. Nice and idyllic little creation. I like what you did with the books. But take a look at your old toothbrush. Doesn't it need to be replaced? Small hairs poking out all the wrong way and such. Instead of throwing it out, you should use it to clean those dusty black bricks - the same creation will look twice as good if the pieces are dust free
  12. Thanks. Kleber and mixtil. It sounds like there isn't anything constructive to get out of there. I will stick to the feedback I have gotten elsewhere, as saying that my current design is scheit, ugly and poorly constructed isn't exactly anything I can use. I hope he has calmed down by now.
  13. I have tried google translate. I think it must have had something wrong, as it doesn't sound like constructive feedback, or at least, I can't decipher what it should be.
  14. Since LEGO is coming up with a Star Wars USC Executor in almost the same scale as my 8 year old design, I want to grab the opportunity and start building a new version. For this project I'm gathering all the constructive feedback that I have on the old design. This is feedback from both MOCPages, FBTB, here and elsewhere. I have been pointed to the following thread in a French forum, where some people supposedly have some good constructive feedback: http://www.brickpirate.net/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7790&start=40 Can anyone here translate what his feedback/ideas are? It is me who is Lasse/gtahelper. Thanks in advance.
  15. OK. Thanks. That's a nice little list to investigate. I can only recognize two of those off hand.
  16. If only there was a nice way to draw attention to details like that. It's a double edged sword (see C.K. Louis' show). On one hand you want details to blend in and add to the harmony of the shape, but on the other hand you would also like to show off those nifty details. We need a nice index for all scale cars out there. Another fine detail is in the C-pillar, which is made using reverse slopes and cheese... at first I wondered how you had attached cheese to normal slopes...
  17. What a beautiful tiny little car I can see why you choose to go 10 years back in time. Nice way of making the 8 wide rear detailing fit into the 11 wide body. This is, however, not creator, since: You did not make at least 2 alternate models. Creator is also limited to use parts in the current parts palette. BTW. You have to tell me your secret of preventing comments like "I don't like your solid looking windows". I get them every time I present cars with brick built windscreens, no matter the forum.
  18. It seem like it's just using Floyd-Steinberg like all the other programs. See the posts in this thread. And outputting .ldr files is easy, other programs, such as the one in OP can do that too. >DLuders I think you should ask Garth Danielson's. Doing a mosaic this way gives you only 20% of the resolution that a plates-from-the-side would give.
  19. It also has more stability than those two because of the all-studs-up technique. Unfortunately those trucks are liftarm-built back there, but I am working on a third kind that has the advantages of both types. They are, however, all following the standard, so they can all pull all my trailers. Right now I'm giving the cement truck an overhaul, which should free up some bricks needed to build a new truck which will be both highly detailed, reliable, motorized truck. This will be a truck that has never been made in LEGO before.
  20. Could you suffice with a long page of instructions which could be printed? Then I could look into how to make sure the individual steps don't get cut up between pages.
  21. Thanks guys. I hope this new coupling standard is something people will adapt because it's both fairly simple to build, reliable and fun to play with. Oh. And this thread might not have many responses, but it has generated more traffic to my site than ever before: 95 visitors today! (vs. 19 yesterday) > VMLN8R. There is a link to it in my signature...
  22. 5580 Highway Rig is my all time favorite set. It started Model Team way back then and a couple of trucks followed it in the same scale. All these trucks had HOG steering, opening doors and other play features, but the fifth wheel never worked very well. You had to lift a trailer in order to attach it to the truck, and lift it again to release it. I have fixed that. The rear end of this modded truck fits the standard I describe here. Now you just have to line the truck up. Back up and the trailer attaches automatically. I have instructions for both the truck, trailer and container. Just click the pictures: Another great feature is that the jacks of this yellow trailer lift automatically, just like on my Blue Sun truck: Take care now.
  23. Where? I can't see it. The wrecker with car? Do you have a picture? Added. Maybe a coffee maker, but not a machine
  24. That is a good place to start. When I get the time, I can try to do this and see what I can learn from that. Perhaps the general case isn't as hard to figure out as it might seem.
  25. sweet post :P Thanks, but don't worry. We will not judge you from your post count. Necro bumping, however...
