  1. Hey everyone! I am looking for a little help. I have been collecting older LEGO magazines, but am missing a few. I am purchasing as many as I can find through Bricklink, eBay, etc., and downloading scans of others, but there are some I haven't been able to find. Does anyone have scans of the following (or know where scans might be located online)? Bricks 'n Pieces: Spring 1990, Autumn 1990, Summer 1991, Autumn 1991, Mar/Apr 1998, May/Jun 1998, Aug 1998, Oct/Nov 1998, Jun 1999, Jan 2000 Adventures (UK): Apr 1999, May 1999, Jul 1999, and all issues from Mar 2000 through Jan 2002 (except for Issues 15, 18 and 19, which I own) World Club (UK): All except Sep/Oct 2001 I appreciate any and all help!
  2. Well said! I have the same feelings about Warm/Pearl Gold: It works for some pieces, but not for others. Although the horse armor uses it (which I really like the design of, by the way) It looks like the king's crown is using a different material. I'm guessing it is Metallic Gold, because it is more shiny than Warm/Pearl Gold, but not as shiny as Chrome Gold. This will be a new color for the crown that we haven't previously had.
  3. I completely agree. The dragon faction armor with red sleeves reminds me somewhat of the Fright Knights' soldiers (which was always one of my favorite castle subthemes). Seeing these figures up close makes me like them even more!
  4. I, for one, am excited for this line! I assumed LotR would replace the standard castle themes as long as it ran. I'm glad I was wrong! I am looking forward to the new molds that will be introduced in this series (those wonderful corner pieces), and I really like the look of the new flags. The color schemes really work for me; I like the inclusion of brown with the medium and dark bley and blue accenting pieces. I don't see why people are complaining so much about the lion emblem. Like Aanchir said a few pages back, I think it looks better than the lion from the Royal Knights/KK1 lines. I will reserve judgment on the dragon shields until I get a better and closer look at them. The basic design is similar to other castles, but that is nothing new. Look how similar some of the castles from the '80s are to each other, yet we classic castle fans still love them. I definitely agree with this, however. It has been a long time since we had a raised baseplate, and I honestly miss them. (Not that I want every set to start having them, but including them every once in a while definitely helps to keep things exciting!) Having collected nearly every castle set produced for 25 years or so, I can say that all the over-reactions I am reading on this forum are quite silly. (There is a lot of negativity, with very little constructive commenting. If you are going to complain, please also include some specific suggestions as to what you would have done differently, and use specific examples. This helps both TLG and LEGO fans alike know what in the world you are talking about.) For some reason (maybe it is the negativity that pervades our culture) there are some people who are completely ignoring all the awesome things about this line, and are focusing ad nauseum on a couple things that they have a negative opinion about. Be grateful, people! We are getting (long-awaited) LotR sets, AND a brand new castle line with new minifigs, new prints and new pieces in the SAME year! I am eagerly anticipating the release of all these new sets!
  5. 6956 Stellar Recon Voyager [M-Tron, 1990] LDR File Errors: None Notes: For some reason POV-Ray rendered some of the magnet casings as being red instead of black. The LDraw file has the correct color for those pieces. I'm too new to the world of rendering to know why POV-Ray made that change. If someone knows what is going on here, I will be happy to re-render and add the updated picture. 6989 Mega Core Magnetizer [M-Tron, 1990] LDR File Errors: 3x Minifig Tool Hose Nozzle with Handle with Black String (194cx2) not available, subbed Minifig Tool Hose Nozzle with Handle (4210a)
  6. 6923 Particle Ionizer [M-Tron, 1990] LDR File Errors: None
  7. Sounds like a fun contest! I would like to book sets # 6923, 6956 and 6989. I will probably have more later, but I will post about those once I finish these three.

  9. 1 by Ninja Nin - 1 point 5 by BaraSH - 1 point 17 by Ceroknight - 1 point There were so many great entries! I voted based on poses and artistry, but there are so many others that I also like a lot for so many other reasons! Great job, everyone!
  10. I like this topic! Sorry if my battle pack is bird heavy, but I've long thought we need a greater variety of birds. Jaguar (5 points) Turtle (3 points) Albatross (3 points) Seagull x2 (2 points) Toucan (1 point)
  11. Sorry...I'm a little confused about the use of "Architecture" in the Category B contest. Does the architecture have to be from one of the official LEGO Architecture sets? And if not, does it have to be based on another easily recognizable "real world" building, or is any building we choose suitable? Thanks for the clarification, and sorry about the confusion!
  12. I have a quick question. Hopefully I am not repeating a previous question, but I read through this troubleshooting forum and didn't see this problem described anywhere. Is there an issue with the most recent version of LDD that causes severe lag? It doesn't seem to matter if I am working with 5 bricks or 5,000. It doesn't happen all the time; I notice it most frequently when I am trying to drag a brick from the palette to the workspace. Closing the brick palette seems to get rid of the lag, but it is annoying to have to keep closing and reopening it. I also notice the lag when I am using the color palette sometimes. I have reduced all the video settings to provide the least strain on my computer, but that shouldn't be a problem because my computer is plenty powerful and my drivers are all up to date. I'm just wondering if others have experienced this problem as well.
  13. These are a few of the parts I would like to see. They are mostly Bionicle/Exo-Force parts, but the ones at the top are more general and are ones I would definitely like to have included! 4784 2046 41672 424 55767 47459 47460 47461 47462 47463 50623 50624 50625 50626 50627 54171 54175 54178 47314 47335 32551 44790 50858 47298 44350 44351 I would also like to see many more printed parts, but especially the following: 4444pb03 4444p03 4444p06 4444pb01 4444p02 4444p05 4444pb04 4444p01 4444p04 2345p01 2345p44 2345pb01 2345pb02 2345pb05 2345pb06
  14. I know...I am just hoping they will have some reason (perhaps because of usage in LU) to make an exception, kind of like they have for dozens and dozens of other bricks we now have access to, which are also not in production anymore. In the interview you referenced, that possibility is raised. Also, one other piece (also older and not in production anymore) that I hope makes the cut is the smallest version of the wagon wheel (part 2470):
  15. First, I am ecstatic about all the new pieces released in LDD 4.0! So, thank you to all the developers, etc., at TLG who made this possible! There are a few pieces I would love to see make it into future releases, however. These are all old pieces, so I guess I shouldn't set my hopes too high. I would love to see the following: All the old hinge plates (pre-click-hinge era) like 4275, 4276, etc.: These guys were so much more versatile (albeit weaker and more prone to wear) than the newer click hinges. Also, the old rope bridge and the old stairs from many pirate and castle sets (parts 2549, 2046 and 4784): If only these five made it I would be happy. If I could request more, some of the specialized weapons from ExoForce and from KKII (large figures) would be nice (I mean...as long as more Bionicle pieces are added, these might be as well).
  16. Part 2723 Disk 24 is fixed so that it will accept an axle....
  17. -Part Name: Fence 1x4x5 (or 1x4x6) -Part Description: A taller chainlink fence. Just like part 3185, but taller, and possibly with a couple studs on top to attach barbed wire, security cameras, lights, leaves, birds, etc. -Part Usage: This part could be used for many types of scenes: prisons, zoos, urban city scenes, banks, impound or junk yards, etc. The shorter fence doesn't have quite the same effect when minifigs can so easily look or climb over them. The piece can also be used in SNOT creations, just like the shorter version. -Part Name: New flowers on sprue -Part Description: Tulips, Roses, etc. -Part Usage: We have had the standard six-petal flowers (part 3742) that fit on the flower stem (part 3741) for decades. Isn't it time for some new flowers to diversify our gardens? These new flowers would come on a sprue just like their older relatives (four to a sprue, to compensate for loss, of course). -Part Name: Reverse Arch 1x4x1 -Part Description: An arch, like an upside-down version of part 3659. -Part Usage: With a couple 1x1 plates, and used with the standard upright arch, this would make the perfect round window opening (see next suggested part). We have had square and rectangular windows forever, so why not round ones? -Part Name: Round Window 1x2x2 -Part Description: Just like its name suggests, a round window (with "glass" that snaps in, of course), that fits perfectly inbetween an arch coupled to an upside-down arch (see above). -Part Usage: Once again, round windows are notoriously lacking from our part repositories. -Part Name: Ham -Part Description: A new mold, comprised of a delicious-looking ham with a grippable ham bone handle on one end, and a stud "bone" leaving the ham on the other end. -Part Usage: Many of my minifigs are getting tired of turkey all the time. Now that we have pigs, I think my medieval feasts need a ham. -Part Name: Brick-contoured 1x2 Brick -Part Description: We currently have a couple contoured bricks: the "wood" brick (part 30136), the corrugated metal brick (part 2877). What about a 1x2 brick with its face contoured to look like a portion of a brick wall? (Including, of course, grooves for the mortar.) This piece would have portions of four or so bricks. -Part Usage: Many of them could be put together for an entire brick wall, fireplace, house foundation, etc. Or, you could just insert the random one into a regular wall to indicate that the plaster has fallen away (thus exposing the brick underneath). -Part Name: Shopping cart -Part Description: A wheeled shopping cart, like the ones used in grocery stores. -Part Usage: Minifigs have a way to get merchandise into the stores (using the minifig hand truck, part 2495), but what about the shoppers? They only have two hands like the rest of us. -Part Name: In general, more animals (deer, sheep, tigers, lions, zebras, giraffes, bears, birds, etc.) and more accessories, containers and food (dishes, silverware, vases, cell phones, cupboards, refrigerators, milk cartons, egg cartons, bottles, etc.) -Part Description: As noted above. -Part Usage: Details, details, details. Most LEGO fans love details. Besides, the more these new molds have points of attachment to other LEGO pieces, the more they can be used in new and interesting ways, perhaps unrelated to their original intent.
  18. 1. No, I do not buy them as parts packs, but for their aesthetic and creative appeal (and their overall awesomeness). 2. Individual. The qualities that appeal to me are a beautiful design, a variety in the pieces and/or colors used, and a complex and/or fun build. 3. a. Angkor Wat, b. Neuschwanstein Castle, c. Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle 4. I loved the Medieval Market (I bought 4) and the Town Plan. I like these ultimate sets most when they fit the qualities mentioned above, and when they are not just bigger versions of sets that are already fairly common (in other words, when they are original, supplemental to the theme and awesomely big; not just awesomely big). They need to fill important gaps in the themes. Some ideas: a. Castle: a huge forestmen village, a beautiful elven city like Rivendell, a medieval festival/feast/tournament, a huge medieval inn with stables (with room for multiple travelers and their horses) b. Pirate: a pirate village, an imperial port and village (bigger than the existing ones) c. Space: a civilian planetary settlement (keeping the vehicles to a minimum) d. Town: a zoo (with existing animals, existing animals in new colors: zebras, brown or black bears, etc., and long-neglected new animal molds: lions, giraffes, deer, other bird species, etc.), a circus (with trapeze and stunt artists, vendors, animals, etc.), a park (complete with a pavilion and barbecue pits, a pond with rowboats, and an ornamental bridge and gazebo), ornamental or botanical gardens (with peacocks, hedges or a hedge maze, sculpted trees, new flower types that fit on the existing or new stems, etc.), a resort (either summer or winter) 5. I find the beauty of the set in the details. In non-minifig sets, I enjoy complex and beautiful architectural designs. In addition to the architecture, in minifig sets, I enjoy extra (unlooked for) features and details that make the sets that much more fun. For example, I loved the presence of the clock, rug, radiator, fire escape, etc. in the Green Grocer. The more of these kinds of things, the better. I also love good landscaping, or a great nature scene. A few new bird molds, flower molds, plant molds, and tree molds would be wonderful! For architecture, I love the new half arches this year. What about some upside-down arches, with round windows that fit between a normal 1x4 arch and an upside-down one? How about taller chain-link fences for urban scenes? With just a couple new pieces to fill the gaps in piece availability, the possibilities are greatly expanded.
  19. Loved Western! Please bring it back! Please, please, please...
  20. Please, please, please make the Pirate Calendar available in the US. I have piratey calendary needs!
  21. I just saw the new teaser trailer for Toy Story 3, and there they are, making a special guest appearance, a few handfuls of our favorite bricks! I'm excited to see what role LEGO bricks or minifigs play in the movie itself. I always thought that they were conspicuously absent in the first two movies, being the absolute best toy ever invented. No bias here, of course. By the way, I found the teaser trailer at www.apple.com/trailers ... just in case anyone was wondering.
  22. I bet it will sell really well. I work at a TRU in the video game area, and all the LEGO video games since LEGO Star Wars have been great hits. Even when it's not the holiday season we have had a hard time keeping some of them in stock. The Guitar Hero/Rock Band games have also been big sellers. Add the LEGO name and style to one of them and I think it will do very, very well. I'm not sure if I will get it, since I am not too into the Rock Band type games, but if they release band LEGO sets as well, I will definitely get those.
  23. I completely agree. A taller fence piece would be indispensable to urban creations. It would also have a lot of versatility because of the ability to connect studded pieces to the sides. What about some more reverse arches. I would love to see an upside-down one of these: They could be used with the normal arches to make circular or oval windows. Another piece that would complement this would be a round window/window frame that could be used much like this piece: It would fit perfectly in between an upside down and a regular arch. Also, I'm surprised that TLG hasn't come out with a pointed arch piece yet, given how common it is in architecture around the world. Pointed arches would be great in making more realistic buildings. If you can't tell, I love architectural elements...hehe... Another piece I would love to see is another kind of flower. We have had this one for years: What about a tulip that also fits on the same stem piece. They would, of course, come on a sprue of four. Another piece I would love to see is a variant of the classic 1x2 brick, much like these variants: The difference I am envisioning would be that the new 1x2 brick would have a slight groove all the way around the edge, so that when multiple bricks are stacked on top of and next to each other, the result would be a texture much like a brick wall (with the groove where the mortar is). Throw a few of these in almost any city building, and I think it would look a whole lot cooler. Add the pointed arches and circular windows and you've got mind-blowing possibilities!
  24. Sign me up! How much is tuition, by the way?
  25. I just bought the Farm and the Harvester today. They showed up at TRU this morning. For anyone who wants to know, the price on the Farm was $89.99, and the Harvester was $46.99. I just finished building them about an hour ago, and believe me, they are beautiful! <sniff, sniff> The Farm had quite a few great pieces, some rare (like the tan Indy fedora), some just especially useful. And the design and details were really great, too (I loved the birdhouses). Great review, by the way. Very funny, too. I was chuckling throughout the whole thing. I bought the Tractor a few days ago and am very happy with it. However, the next time TRU has one of their big sales on LEGO, if I had to choose one of these sets to buy in duplicate, the Farm would definitely be it.
