  1. Here's my Super Chief pulling 3 Container Cars. Santa Fe Super Chief The red & yellow containers are from the Cargo Train, I resized them to be in scale with the Maersk containers. I also resized the Cargo Train's Container Car. Are the Maersk Containers supposed to be full or half length containers?
  2. Considering the PF Train Motor, Receiver & Battery Box cost about $42 and the cheapest PF Train is $130 that means $90 for the remote ($13), $20 worth of track and the parts. I'd prefer the Cargo train as the passenger train has too much red. The cargo Train has more track and cars. I think once TRU has their next Buy One Get one half off LEGO sale I'll probably get a couple more Cargo Trains just for PF, Track & Parts. As for selling the extra curves, I think I'll keep them for now, when I build my train yard I'll need a lot for the side-cuts (or whatever they're called. I'll also need a lot of switches...
  3. Actually the Maersk is powered also. I used my last PF set for the Chief so I'll be buying some more PF Train Gear soon.
  4. With the prices of the Santa Fe Car Sets I'll probably just buy the parts & instructions (or print the PDFs) to build out the train with one of each of the five cars Here's my SF Super Chief with PF Next I'll build my first Emerald Night. Still not sure if I'm keeping the 9v Hogwart's Express. If I do then it will get PF also. Not really sure what I think of the TTX Car yet. BNSF look okay but I choose the Super Chief over it. If I get another crack at one I'll take it. Still working on negotiations for the Metroliner & Hobby Train Sets. I'm pondering the beginning of my layout. I think I want to build my train yard first. Since I've used my last PF set I need to order more so I can continue to power my trains.
  5. ME Track is getting serious consideration but I wish they had crossovers & switches. I have a couple of level crossings and the parts to build a couple more using flex track (Like I did here) I've got a deal for the Train Engine Shed set and am close to deals for sets like the Train Hobby Box and Metroliner. I haven't decided what to do with the 9 volt stuff I end-up with in the process. My plan is to convert most of it to PF, I guess I could just hold on to the 9 volt track, motors and accessories just in case the day comes to sell or trade them.
  6. I guess that's also a good place to use them but the point of my post was that this is using the Flex-Track in places where Straight Track is used (such as the Level Crossing Set) and the stiffening additions actually look like they should be there.
  7. I was considering that but Enlighten is officially labeled as a counterfeit brand in the US by Customs so it can't be legally sold here. All of the Chinese Sellers on eBay want at least $17 per box of the track. I'm better off just paying the extra $3 and having the real thing. If I could get my hands on some cheap EN track I'd probably cut some of it to make 90 degree crossings.
  8. I simply string together enough pieces (8) to replace the 2 straight track pieces. Then I added 8 1x2 Jumper Plates and 4 2x3 pieces in the center as shown. To help stabilize the ends I used the now un-needed green 1x4 plates. Now I used 6 1x8 tiles to fill the area between the tracks. I like this solution so much that I did something similar for my passenger train platforms. Note that here the tiles are directly on the center studs of the flex track.
  9. Shipped to San Jose, $265 for the lot. Please provide an e-mail addy since you can't PM here I prefer to keep these discussions out of the thread.
  10. Thanks for warm welcome & kind guidance... In trading my almost complete Star Wars Collection I've already secured 2 Maersk Trains, 2 Emerald Nights and a Super Chief! I've also downloaded a lot of instructions and will be getting the Hobby Box Train Set for sure.
  11. I have up for offer Set #10132, Motorized Hogwart's Express 9v Train. The set is missing the following: MiniFigs (none are included) Curved 9v track (1 piece) Transformer (that plugs into the wall. The Engine, Tender & Passenger Car are complete and Hogsmeade Station has been confirmed to be complete. The speed controller and connecting wire are included. I believe I know where the transformer is and will update this post when I find it and I won't stop looking for the singular piece of missing track. Figure your offer without them and if I find them after a deal is struck they will be included in the negotiated deal. I believe $200 is in the range of fair for this set. Willing to trade for the following: PF Train parts. Train specific parts such as wheels, boogies, couplers etc. Straight Track. Cross-Over Track. Switching Track. Baseplates, Road ways or plain green.
  12. I already have an extra set of PF gear from the second Passenger Train just waiting for my first unpowered engine. Just not sure if I'll get the Emerald Night or Maersk first. I'm leaning towards Freight Trains at the moment but I understand Emerald Night's time may be drawing to a close. I already have the Caboose from the My Trains Line and have been looking at the other cars in the series. I'm thinking of selling my 10132 9v Motorized Hogwart's Express in favor of getting some more PF gear and another Engine. I saw that before, when I move to baseplates on tables I'll be doing that.
  13. Below is the quote from my OP regarding prices. I provided the links to the BL Price Guide for each set, If you offer the Currently Listed Average for Used Set (Right-most Column) I'll accept without hesitation. Anything between the Average Sale Price for last 6 months (Second Column from the left) and Currently Listed Average will get serious consideration. Don't forget to add 1.5% (split the PayPal Fee) and be ready for shipping (to UK is expensive especially for the heavier sets). There are over 200 different sets, I figured this would save some time until someone expressed specific interest it also keeps the asking price from getting stale and outdated. I really would prefer these sets go to other collectors who will appreciate & enjoy them as much as I have over the last 6 years. Anything that doesn't sell after 1 month will simply get listed in my BrickLink Store and eventually sold there.
  14. At least not until the batteries go flat!!! Just don't tel my wife that the Trains could get worse that the Star Wars Collection is/was...
  15. Well it's good for $80 towards the cost! Seriously, anything you have that might add up to get you close? Trains are the big things I'm looking for but there are a lot of things that go good with trains. Especially if you have any of the older sets that went with trains like the Engine House, a Station or any PF gear & straight track. You have good taste, CC is a great set and half of it's value is in the MiniFigs. PM me if you want to see if we can work something out.
  16. I really don't like what they're calling a Train Station (and charging $55 for) right now. I'm thinking of building something more classic, like they've redone all of the local Metra Stations around here and I really like to old Lego Engine House so I'll probably be buying some parts from BrickLink to build me one of them. Structures are coming after I get some tables set-up and base plates down... Definitely want a Freight Yard and stations for the people to get on/off the passenger line.
  17. I was thinking about either doubling-up the motors in the engine or moving the second engine to the front so they're both pulling. I guess the double-up idea would drop the weight of one of the battery boxes. I do like to look of a second engine though so maybe I'll just run them both at the front for a few days and see how I like it. Of course keeping PF in the second cargo engine gives me one more train to run if I ever want to split them up. Yep, that's why I don't have the half-breed pulling up the rear on my passenger train. It's the second "real" engine just without the power functions stuff, I could convert it in less that a couple of minutes if I ever want to return power to it though. Thanks for the glad tidings...
  18. I'll admit that I've been thinking about it for a while. I'm a Star Wars Collector who never really felt comfortable sharing my collection with the kids, what a waste right? Well the girls are too old now but the guys are 3 & 6 so they're at just the right age and both interested in trains. So I took advantage of TRU's Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off sale and grabbed 2 each of 7939 Cargo Train, 7938 Passenger Train & 7636 Level Crossing. I built both of the passenger train's engines but left the PF parts out of one and replaced the clear "headlights" with red ones so it's the tail car now. Using the parts from the two original tail cars (and 8 parts from my spares inventory) I built a 3 passenger car for my train. The cargo train has to fully powered engines, both are on the same frequency/channel so one remote dial controls them. I know my layout is very simplistic but I think it's an okay start. Now I just need to get my hands on a ton of straight track, this train newbie has already found a reason to hate the flex track (other than how ugly it looks), why can't it stay straight when used as straight track? I think I want to add some Box Cars to my cargo train and of course the Maersk Train will be added within a few weeks (I have the PF components from my second Passenger Train just waiting to power that engine)!
  19. Only if someone has already purchased/traded for the set without the minifigures. If this happens I will add the orphaned minifigs to the list & post a reply noting the update.
  20. Up until TODAY!, yes I'm serious. I'm updating the first post to list what I have. Well, just to clarify I said liquidating not Fire Sale or Clearance. I do expect to get fair value for the sets and am not in a rush to sell off the sets quickly.
  21. This is real. Flickr Photo Set showing a lot of the collection I've decided to change LEGO Themes and will be looking to sell off my entire LEGO Star Wars Collection. Below I will list the sets available (my collection is nearly complete), as they are sold or bartered away I will remove them from the list. I do have multiples of some of the sets I am now collecting Trains. If you have any of the following I would be willing to trade for the following (listed from highest priority to lowest): 10025 - Santa Fe Cars Set I 10022 - Santa Fe Cars Set II 4547/10002 - Railroad Club Car 7897 - RC Passenger Train 7994 - LEGO City Harbor 10183 - Hobby Train Power Functions compatible Train Sets (any regardless of being listed here or not) 7895 - Switching Tracks Power Functions Remote, Receiver, Train Motor or Lights Train specific parts such as wheels, boogies, couplers etc. Straight Track Baseplates, Road ways or plain green. Other Train Themed Sets such as Train Stations. Low Priority (I have already secured the desired amount but not against getting a few extra) 10020 - Santa Fe Super Chief 10133 - BNSF 10027 - Train Engine Shed 10219 - Maersk Train 10194 - Emerald Night 7996 - Train Rail Crossing for RC Trains I am looking to get the BrickLink average used set value for these, buyer pays actual shipping cost. In the case of trades, we would split the cost of shipping. For example if my shipping cost to you is $40 and your shipping cost to me is $20 then you would owe me $10 towards shipping. All shipping within the US requires Delivery Confirmation, unfortunately that option isn't available for international unless you want to pay more for UPS, FedEx or DHL. In the case of Int'l USPS I will e-mail proof of shipping (a copy of the receipt for the postage). Buyer chooses the shipping method. Note: LULS Figures are included in sets that they were originally issued with. I don't prefer to sell MiniFigs separate from their sets unless the set has already been sold without the MiniFigs. If you want a set without the MiniFigs, ask I'm willing to do that as MiniFigs are easier to sell than sets missing the MiniFigs are. Condition of all sets is: Open, Complete, No Box, Has been assembled & displayed in an AFOL's collection (non-smoker, no pets, never in direct sunlight). Most have sticker sets not applied (a few have the stickers applied) and all except the Darth Maul Bust include the original instruction manual. The following link is to BrickLink Store which lists everything still available and my asking prices, EuroBricks Members see below for how to buy from me DO NOT USE BrickLink's Ordering System. The link is simply for access to my updated inventory & prices (as a reference). All Serious offers considered, PM me with offers. All offers will be considered in the order they are received. Kyphur's LEGO Star Wars Inventory & Prices on BrickLink For EuroBricks Members PM me here with the sets you want, as soon as we have an agreed upon deal I will remove the item(s) from my BrickLink inventory. If a BrickLink member purchased an item before we've agreed on terms then they will get it. EuroBricks Members will get my items for 3% off the current asking price (as there will be no BrickLink Fees). I will offer the following volume discounts for those who purchase 3 or more sets in a single order: 3 Sets = 5%, 5 Sets = 10%, 8 Sets = 15%, 11 Sets = 20% My goal is (and has been from the start) to get these sets that I love & cherish into the hands of other collectors at a fair price. I have intentionally priced most of my sets to be the lowest priced COMPLETE set of it's kind on BrickLink and I think even after the increase that will be true for over 90% of my sets.
  22. Here's my CubeDude take on the Mechanical General: With CubeDudes the devil is in the details...
