Yair, I've used Lifelites LEDs. I've also soldered my own LEDS, resistors and cables, then heatshrink-wrapped the bare metal parts and cable. $2 per Lifelite LED isn't cheap, but comparing it to the work of soldering, heatshrinking and testing it's not actually too bad Also solder and flux fumes are not good, nor are burnt fingers Probably someone who solders all day every day could prep a batch of LEDs in minutes, but I solder once every 3 years Considering using Lifelites for a project, mostly because they have flashing amber LEDs. Has anyone used their 9v adapter with a Lego PF battery box? Looks like it should work, maybe needs PF extension cable and a 9v system jumper plate?

Already working pressure on most pumps is high enough that it's easy for hoses to blow off parts. Can't see TLG introducing hose clamps Shame, current valve is leaky even at low pressures and imo, it feels a bit junky. Proportional flow control nothing but dreams and won't happen, but for an open/shut valve, it would be nice if it felt a little bit more positive (clicky), and in my dream, easier to control with a motor. Ho, if this Arocs set had new valves, I might consider buying it. Obviously I'd make a point of being disappointed by everything about it, but new valves for €200 is a good deal.

Aw, davidmull, where's your usual sense of fun today So anyway, what do you think the crawler crane B-model might be? It has those grab claws...
-
Well I thought this was a serious thread for information for serious collectors and serious AFOLs. It seems to just be discussion, speculation, rumours, and misunderstandings
-
Wait! You're saying the crawler crane has pneumatics too! That is totally unrealistic. I already wasn't going to buy it, but I'm definitely not buying it now. Crawler cranes on trucks Is that like Sariel's Mini on crawler tracks?
-
Quick, build the crane! Ruin his day I should say now, I'm already disappointed with the crane. That's based on the pictures I've seen (none), and the replica (none). Just wanted to get that in before anyone else.

You've invented something like a top-roller-drive Rolligon http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1294 http://www.unusuallocomotion.com/pages/industrial/rolligons-and-terra-tires.html

@allanp, you wouldn't like the LAZORS anyway. I've seen some prototypes on a trip to Billund. They're not long enough (only 8 studs). You'd just spend the next 10 years asking for LAZORS 2.0 (16 studs). TLG are probably keeping them back for that exact reason.

Dokludi has mad replica-building skills, but the disappointment I now feel about this set is simply unmeasurable.

Technic guys into trains
andythenorth replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've got about 80% of one in the lego room in our loft. The kids smashed it pretty quickly. Got an Emerald Night that my two-year old totalled as well, and they've had a little go at smashing the two sets of Horizon Express -

Nah, there isn't one. Everything is compressed differently in each dimension, similar to City vehicles, and to art in computer games etc. Some AFOLs build to specific scale, 1 stud = [some amount]. Also some people call the track 'L Gauge'. -

Also you really can't crash the Maersk engine, it's fragile, not a toy. I dunno. I know there are some AFOLs making super-accurate model trains with Lego. The SNOT techniques and everything are very impressive but for me, Lego is about making toys. The game is how many engines and wagons you can get onto one train and have it run at top speed. Also power. More power. -

Trains are fun. https://www.flickr.c...th/15097651796/ The funny sound in the video was my 2 year old. I cut the video just before he sat down on the train engine, with resulting mass pile up. @sariel hamster train? -
OMFG, from the last few descriptions here I am definitely not buying this. Once again TLG are just ignoring the needs of AFOLs. This is not the set I was hoping for, and I am very disappointed. I guess the upside is I will be able to save my money.
-
I think I'm just going to leave it in a box until my kids find it. They won't know it's considered to be super-rare, super-valuable and super-desirable by AFOLs. They'll just plug in a battery box, and make it into a drill (put in a 5.5 axle with stop) or a shaver (two 20t gears). That will make them happy, the money won't. When they do I shall post pictures for truck trialists and other AFOLs to see. Hmm I also have 16 unused Power Puller tyres, bought when they were about £7 each and not £21.91 each. But that's another story.

So eh, I have an RC buggy motor from the 8421 crane. This creates a dumb dilemma. The buggy motor is so expensive on Bricklink that I can't convince myself to use it in a moc, even where the form factor would be useful. Also it's (assuming I read Philo's site correctly) outlandishly powerful, which is never a requirement in the places I could use it. So keep it? Sell it? Give it away? Or get over myself, and stop finding first world problems? I think we know the answer here...
