  1. So, theoretically speaking of course, if I were feeling inadequate because of my low post count an admin could increase the number posts without me polluting every thread I see with a pointless post? (Kinda like this post/thread)
  2. I didn't even notice the picture on the box was different from the actual minfig. Just checked mine and found the same thing. I think it looks OK as it matches the color of the sorceress' hood. So you sent back the shiny crown? Just curious as to why you just didn't keep it.
  3. Show off....
  4. Tough crowd around here. I finally found this set, sitting on my local TRU shelf. This was AFTER I drove 40 miles to the nearest Lego store. Anyway, I agree with the lack of playability part, but I really think the design is great overall. I love the figures which was honestly the driving force for the purchase. I am a fan of the trolls, only need the Troll Battle Wheel to get them all. I do take issue with the small number of trolls in this set, and overall the lack of shields throughout the troll sets. But I really do like it, and it fits well with the many other fantasy era sets I have on display.
  5. While looking for the review of the 7097 Troll Mountain Fortress I found the search function on this forum is quite annoying and lackluster in its performance. To top it off, while trying to search for different terms the flood control kicked in and has me wait another 40 seconds. I search, get nothing, and have to wait to search again? Just try it, search for 7097 review. Also try adding quotes to help limit the search responses, "709 review." Not much info there. I know I posted in the thread so a quick search of my posts should turn it up. When I use the search function here, all I get a bunch of jumbled replies and nothing I am looking for. I did find some good stuff along the way, but not the specific review thread I was looking for. I found the review the first time using the search function on the old forum.
  6. Love it. I am a bit jealous though, 28 cheerleaders...wow! By far my favorite minifigure from series 1.
  7. That's a good idea, but for now they are known as the Swedish Cheerleading Team.
  8. Ahh the fun of playing Legos with an 8yr old girl. The cheerleaders had practice, trying out some new moves. Time to try a lift, be careful. "Kayla hold on my hands are slipping!" AAAAhhhhhh!!! "KAYLA ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?" "Call a nurse I'm hurt." "Hurry up! Some weird skater kids just showed up." "Get me out of here, way too many people are here. And what is that skater kid doing?" The End.
  9. Excellent work. I am getting into the orc thing a bit late but your castle will serve as some inspiration for my own fortress.
  10. 1. No, I normally keep large sets together and built. If not left built they are disassembled and put back in the box. 2. Normally I try to buy all the sets in a particular series rather than a mismatch of sets at the end of the year. 3. The Golden Gate Bridge, or even the US Capitol Building. 4. This one is hard to answer, too many ideas floating around. The world racers theme is good, but what about expanding the Formula 1 cars beyond just Ferrari? A nice road course with grandstands would be cool. Thanks for the chance to sound off.
  11. Found an ad on craigslist with a guy selling sealed boxes of 8683 minifigures. $145 usd, and he has 42 sealed boxes. For the record this is not my ad, and I do not know who it is. Located in San Jose, California http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/tag/1774849311.html Please delete if this isn't allowed.
  12. Thanks for setting me straight, I never heard anything about them being different. When I was looking for the barcodes I only ever found one set of barcodes and they worked for me.
  13. The barcodes are the same. If you have a google cell phone, try scanning the barcode and it will tell you what figure is in the pack.
  14. Other than the Troll Warship, not many Troll sets have this many figures. I do agree that there is not a lot of wow factor with this set though.
  15. The price is what has kept me away. Even still, I had the box in my hands tonight at my local TRU. Looks like a good set and based on the reviews I intend to buy it, hopefully soon. I have been trying to collect the fantasy era trolls so this is a must have for me now. Still a long way off from completing the series though.
  16. I second that. I ogled that set many times in the Lego catalog, but when I saw it for the first time in person I had to buy it on the spot. Great set, and one of my all time favorites. I don't plan on using any parts of it for anything other than to display in my ever growing castle diorama.
  17. Ha, I was digging through Brickset and found the Lego set my brother had. 710-2 : Steam Shovel with Carrier. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=730-2 Also had this one here: Wrecker with car. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=710-1 Sadly most of these parts are missing or broken. I still have one blue door from the steam shovel and one yellow door from the wrecker. :(
  18. Now that is funny right there.
  19. Series 1 first as these will likely disappear quickly if you put it off too long.
  20. I just noticed the new banner and theme. Very cool, good to keep things fresh and new. Keep up the good work.
  21. Thanks for the welcome guys, and gals.
  22. Well I was lucky enough to find a partial box at my local TRU. The box was put out that morning, and by 6 it was all gone when I bought the remaning 26 packs. Everyone around here is going crazy for these things. One person was on the phone asking about them when I walked in. I tried the barcode trick but I ran out of patience pretty quick. I just decided to buy them all. While I was in line, 2 other people came in asking about them. I thought someone already cherry picked a full set but when I got 4 wrestlers and 4 zombies I figured people were just buying random packs w/o looking for the whole set. I got a local guy who is willing to trade for the 2 I still need. I'm sure my kid will be thrilled when she opens them on her birthday in a few weeks.
  23. Just wanted to say hello, I am BC. I live in Dublin, California. I have been hooked on Legos since I was 4. My older brother got his first Lego set at a flea market, he never really played with the set as much as I did. Over the years I inherited his Legos and many others for birthdays and Christmas. To this day my favorite gift I ever got for any Borthday or Christmas was the Lego Technic 8859 tractor. Over the years I found my Lego collection being passed down along my nieces and nephews. By the time I got them back, many great pieces were lost or broken but the majority were still there. I held onto them, and even now I still find so many pieces that I remember playing with as a kid. Anyway, flash forward 35 years and my 7 yr old daughter has caught the Lego bug as well. I find myself fulfilling my own dreams as a kid to build a large collection and display the completed models. Legos provide hours of enjoyment and quality time for my daughter and I together. Cool site you got here, I find myself in awe of the creativity of the members of this forum. Keep up the good work.
  24. I too bought a box of loose Legos at a garage sale and found all the parts to build this model. The only way I knew what the parts were for was by looking at some old brochures/catalogs that came with the various sets at that time. Thanks for the detailed review with the complete instructions.
  25. Just thought I would jump and get my first post over with. 2 years ago I found the 7094 Lego Castle at Wal-Mart for $50 usd, half price. Last year I stood in line on black Friday at my local Target store to buy the 7048 Troll Warship for $50 usd, again about half price. A few weeks ago I scored big time on Craigslist, bought the 9719 Mindstorms, 9732 Extreme Creatures, and the 9730 Robosports sets. All boxes were unopened and had been stored since 2001. Bought them all for $80 usd. Retail price at the time the guy bought them was $300. Anyway, cool forum you got here, my 7 yr old daughter loves it as much as I do.
