Personalised/Customised Flags of Members
Capn Frank replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in Pirate MOCs
This is a great idea Col.! *y* I luv LOP's flag! *sweet* P -
Of course i knew that our border w/ Canada is the longest undefended one. :-P X-D I live in Wisconsin after all, which isn't too far from our northern neighbor. ;-) Canadians do have a different dialect from most of the US. The Yooper dialect and Canadian Dialect sound a lot alike. Working on my IMTP ship and sorting all the bricks i got for christmas right now. X-D Will work on it again once i'm done w/ my contest entry (maybe). P

Col. I agree, most of the fighting was done around the great lakes against British-Canadian troops. That's also where most of the 26 ship to ship engagements were. Pretty much Mr. Ruben. Just that by being refitted means that the top deck of the ship was removed. Usually done to 74's (probably because they were the most common X-D ) and then those ships would be refitted with around 50 long guns. There is the USS Ohio, here's the wiki link. I'm pretty sure it's the largest ship-of-line made by the US.

Thanx Admiral for your concern :-) I think i'll allow this kind of off-topicness to continue a little longer, so feel free to post your comment. X-D Col. I think what the admiral means by off-topic is discussing the war of 1812 and not this MOC. :-) [history lesson] From what i've read of the war of 1812, the US didn't want to try to take over canada. US merchant crews were getting pressed into British naval service (cause many americans looked British) when they're trying to trade as a neutral country. US trading plummeted when their merchant ships didn't go to sea. This was the main reason we went to war with britian. Britain was at war with france, which is why they impressed US crews into their service. And why the US thought we stood a chance against britian if we went to war. In the begining of the war, we had 17 war ships, the biggest being the original 6 frigates like the constitution. Great Britain sent about 100 war ships of their 900 ship navy against the US. With some of them being ship-of-lines (the largest being a first rate). The US navy should have been easily squashed, but it wasn't. To me, that's what i find amazing about the War of 1812. There were 26 ship to ship engagements between US and British forces. The US won 14 of them. Granted during much of the war, US ships were stuck in ports by british ship-of-the-lines, but once there was a fog, or inclinate weather, those ships would be gone. Also, the US did loose 2 of the 6 original super-frigates in this war. :'-( However during the war, british ships were commanded to not engage a US frigate alone after losing 3 of their frigates (one was britian's best frigate and another was a new french frigate that the british took over) and the US had yet to lose a frigate. The US did lose one frigate in single ship-to-ship combat, otherwise i'm really sure other frigates that Britain took out numbered US ships at least 2 to 1 (the US did make and purchased smaller frigates during the war). Then the british made Razees to counter the super-frigates (not too sure with that though 8-| ). When the war was over, not much was really accomplished for either side. The one thing that did happen though was that the US merchant crews were no longer pressed into service by British war ships. [/history lesson] I don't have the books in front of me anymore (had to return them to the library |-/ ), so what i remember might be inaccurate. Granted this is all information from books written in the US. I'd be curious if there are British accounts of this war that are different.

A Blue Beret? X-O You have any pics of one and where you get them? I agree about the uniform thing. I've been using Jawa, sand ppl, and *yoda* torsos. :-D :-$ P
-
Nice layout so far SalvoBrick. I don't have any street base plates, 8-| Except for 2 from my gas stations and 2 from my shuttle launchpads. :-D I'll post some pics in case others are too lazy to click on your link X-D P
-
That's awesome General :-D I didn't even know there was a Dr. Minister. :-$ Same here *y* Unfortunately TLC doesn't ask me for City set ideas :-D P

Superb "Painting" TPRU! *y* I love all the "special effects" that are on the MOC *sweet* That's a great idea. I'm gonna have to steel i mean borrow that idea when i need some special effects. X-D Without the permission of B :'-( , i added this MOC to Index of Painting MOCs. X-D I'm not certain you're aware of this, but there is a method that may be easier for your windows to be made on the second floor. In this pic: Instead of using a 1x1 round brick, try using two 1x1 plates and the studs on the lattice bricks will fit perfectly. ;-) P

Great work Andreas! *y* I like how you've made the horse look like it's rearing up. *sweet* It's very innovative. This fine vig has been added Index of Painting MOCs. Hey B, hopefully it's ok that i took the liberty to add this MOC to the index. :-$ P

Port la Brique - check out the architecture on this one!
Capn Frank replied to gui45's topic in Pirate MOCs
That's a great interior so far gui! *y* I really like this dock and how it's progressing *wub* Hopefully it's ok with you, but i edited your first post to include thumblinks of the interior for those that just started to read this topic. :-) P -
Hey Dan, This a an awesome MOC! *y* Good work. This fort has be added to the Land-based MOC Index. For such a fine MOC, it seems there should be more pics put into the first post, so if it's ok with Dad, i added these pics *sweet* Some closeup thumb-links: Here's a removable portion of this Fort: P

Eventually has arrived :-P

Brickadier General, Great work on your church building *y* That's a good idea to have a cemetery next to the church building. I should make a cemetery next to my church building when ppl in my town start dying :-D Your church has a real nice layout *wub* Do you have any pics of the interior? :'-) P

Sorry Hinckley, I wasn't trying to ask for a specific rank or anything. :-$ Probably a good idea not to worry a about another MOD or regulator yet. *y* Just trying to give a suggestion about a rank system since i was in the Wisconsin Army Guard I probably should have made that clearer. 8-| Sweet, i like it! Great work Dr. S. P
-
EN Admin, Are any of you three going to be able to edit posts and stuff similar to a Regulator in the town forum? P Phredit: Oh and also, Is there going to be specified rank eventually? For officer ranks in the US Army there's: O-1 2LT (2nd Lieutenant) O-2 1LT (1st Lieutenant) O-3 CPT (captain) O-4 MAJ (major) O-5 LTC (Lieutenant Colonel) O-6 COL (Colonel) O-7 BG (brigadier general) O-8 MG (major general) O-9 LG (lieutenant general) O-10 GEN and GA (general and general of the army respectively) We can use a totally different rank system of course, just wanted to show you what i'm used to when i was in the Army National Guard. X-D

Thanx Cyclone Titan Stop on over, don't try to stop by on sundays though. It's not that the owner goes to church or anything, it's just when the own is able to catch up on roasting coffee beans. X-D Can you show a pic of him? I'm kind of interested to see what's different. The set that my "thing" came from was from 2001. Thanx master of the Fabulands. :-$ The coffee shop is 100% lego though ;-) Lego and non-Lego don't mix very well, no matter what the other brands say X-D Thanx Quarryman :-) Just cause Dr. S has been doin a lot of traveling, doesn't mean he can't stop for coffee X-D P
-
Sorry, no suggestions. If i come up with good one i'm not able to, I'll pm ya ;-) You want you my sigfig in your MOC? :'-) I'm speechless :-$ Don't worry about the torso, just put me in something really cool looking if you want. X-D I don't have Dr. S' exact torso, so i use the one that Stauder uses. 8-| I don't have any Fabuland sets. Never even heard of them till i saw Copmike, Hinckley, and Sinner with them. I'd love to throw in a walrus with a blue bucket in some of my mocs :-D P
-
Don't worry cap'n, I sense a change in the wind on Friday P
-
The main reason i noticed anything at all was because he took my favorite seat in the coffee shop, :-$ and that irked me. Plus he is funny lookin, some funny lookin ppl are hard not to notice. X-D P

Thanx zouave :-$ Exactly, they were trying to assassinate Dr. S. There's proof all over the first post X-D **dodges a cannon ball as it grazes my plume** Thanx Cap'n About the brown, you may have noticed a lack of brown plates (except on the front, top exterior) in this moc, or any of the other town mocs. . They're all being used for flooring on the constitution, the walls of the constitution are white or black, so brown bricks are free to be used whereever Awesome! *y* Looking forward to it Exobuilder. *sweet* P

I suppose i didn't mention it in my first post :-D It's a megabloks figure. They're really pathetic compared to an official lego fig. :-X I didn't buy him either, my mom gave me some megabloks from a thrift store |-/ Bless her heart for trying, but they're not the same. :-$ There's three more where that came from too :-D They'll be brought up later. ;-) P

Which Pirate LEGO faction do you support?
Capn Frank replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
A nice pirate? X-O This doesn't make any sense *wacko* X-D Evil Captain Phred will always be a pirate! >:-) Arrrrrr. :-) P -
The coffee shop is finally open in Mulberry. I based this coffee shop from the one that's in my town that my wife and i go to all the time. Here's a link to the picture of Badger Brothers Coffee Shop. Here's a picture of the exterior: And there seems to be heavy security already at the coffee shop. I wonder why, there must be someone really important inside: Well that explains the guards outside, Dr. Sinister is in town and is talking to the newly voted mayor of Mulberry, Jared Black. Check out the espresso machine, the grinder, and next to the grinder, a platter of chocolate and plain cookies. *y* The barista is busy frothing a mocha for a strange looking customer. There's Captain Phred sipping his 12 ounce Mocha (he orders the same thing every time). He's not sitting in his usual spot in the other bay window, and doesn't look happy that some weirdo took it. Look at this guy. How is going to drink his Latte with hands like that? Oh well. Here's another look at the counter space. Against the left wall are flavored syrups to add to a drink. There's also a coffee mug rack on the back wall with a sink below it. What's this?!? Where did that chrome sword come from? Lego doesn't make swords like that. The weird looking guy is charging towards Dr. Sinister! But it looks like Captain Phred has already anticipated his move. The weirdo looks to see who's charging him just in time to get a face full of hot mocha. Looks like help is coming in the door. The weirdo drops his sword in despair and as soon as he regains his composure, realizes that Captain Phred has picked up his sword and two guards are pointing their guns at him. The assassination attempt has been thwarted. Here comes Mulberry's finest from the back door to cuff this mysterious character. Mulberry has no holding cell and wonders if Tabletown does. Dr. Sinister gladly takes this unusual character into his custody and has told Mayor Black the he'll keep him posted in the investigation of this new enemy.
