  1. TW browns bay also has the Imperial Flagship and the Grand Emporium. Their Minifig stocks are decreasing at a rapid rate however (whistles innocently) Those on the North side better hurry..... Nikkiwi
  2. I had a rough idea what the barcode I needed was (I had the cheat sheet all printed off, but foolishly left it at home). I had studied the barcode for the figure I wanted enough that once I found a pack that looked close enough, I was able to feel through and felt something that felt like a bow. Even so, it was still a gamble, and I did enjoy that little frisson of "what is it going to be?" that I'd have not had if I had used the cheat sheet. I'll probably get a few more. Nikkiwi
  3. I got my first collectible minifig today from Toyworld Browns Bay - $5. Was "fortunate" enough to get the forest man fig.... Nikkiwi
  4. As these things happen, The seller has been in touch and my order will be shipped tomorrow....:) And I'll second (or third or fourth or whatever...) Gelo/Helen - great to deal with Nikkiwi
  5. I placed the order with a NZ based store on the 21st, was invoiced on the 23rd, paid the 24th (Mon Last) and BL message sent notifying same day. I contacted the seller by his alternative email over this weekend, but as of 3pm NZ today (one week since payment) I have had no reply from either message (BL shows that the 1st message hasn't been read), and the order still shows as processing. There was nothing on the splash page to indicate that there would be any delay in responding. And there was certainly little delay in sending out the invoice (is that something that can be automated from the sellers side???). Nikkiwi
  6. A question for any regular Bricklink users out there.... How long do you consider reasonable to wait for a bricklink order to be processed and shipped after payment? Cheers Nikkiwi
  7. Re: Collectible Minifigs Does anyone have any idea what the likely retail price for these is going to be? and are we any closer to a confirmed release date? Cheers Nikkiwi
  8. What colour do you need it in? Cheers Nikkiwi
  9. Regarding the collectible minifigs, who out there is interested in them to just collect the whole set, and who are only interested in certain minifigs? Myself, while I wouldn't object to having the whole set, I am really interested in getting forestmen figs (for my castle collection), along with some of the female (nurse, cheerleader) figs. (although if I ended up getting a lot of Zombies......Dawn of the Dead City beckons....lol) What is everyone else after??? Cheers Nikkiwi
  10. I suspect they don't order from S@H but either purchase kits themselves when overseas on other business (a la Legoman here....thanks btw) , or have family/friends/contacts overseas who will purchase and send to NZ. If so, then you don't have to factor TLG's exorbitant shipping into the equation, and if good friends/family may not have to factor in much of exchange rate mark-ups either (particularly if they aren't aware that you are selling it on, and think they're buying you presents - cynical me...lol). THe other thing I've seen in watching TM, is the increase in sets listed when sales are on - e.g. when TW was selling the 6242 soldiers fort kit for $49 last month, a large number of them suddenly appeared on TM priced @ $75.... And I agree, for LEGO that in production, there are cheaper ways and places than TM to get it. Cheers Nikkiwi
  11. Sassea, Thank you for your response and explanation. Firstly, I wasn't trying to be rude, I was expressing disbelief, although I'll accept that the word "rant" was perhaps a bit imflammatory. I do, however, apologise for any offense caused. Secondly, regarding market value, you have hit the point I was making. Your son wanted a combined total well in excess of $200nz for the separate parts of a kit (+ some extras) that another trader sold complete in its box for $40nz!! The "castle siege" auction was asking for $280 (although I see you've recently dropped the price), which was also well in excess of what the core set (LEGO 6090) of that auction can be purchased for on Bricklink, even taking currency differences into account, and certainly well above what other 2nd hand castles on Trade Me sell for. That level of pricing suggests that either a) the seller hasn't done their research properly (and I would suggest that the local toy store has a vested interest in not having cheap LEGO pricing), or b) they are incredibly optimistic. I applaud your sons ideals, but ultimately, "market value" for 2nd hand LEGO, is what people are prepared to pay for it, and if he is going to price his goods that far above what other traders are selling at, then he will find that he just won't sell. And when it comes down to it, I am looking to get the best deal I can get, just as your son is. Finally, I wish you and your sons well in your future endevours. All the best Nikkiwi
  12. Hey all, Does anyone from NZ have any Bricklink traders they'd particularly recommend (either to use or avoid) when it comes to ordering large items to be shipped to NZ? Cheers Nikkiwi
  13. <RANT MODE ON> My God - There are some unbelievable optimists on TradeMe when it comes to LEGO!!!! Just check out trademe lister "Sassea" and the price they are expecting for viking kits that have been divided into separate elements!!! Not to mention the "castle seige". I could buy the viking kits complete and new off bricklink for the price they want for the Ofnir dragon alone!!!!! Don't these people do ANY market research before listing????????? And then they no doubt wonder why no-one bids on their auctions..... Sheesh <rant mode off> edited for language filters
  14. Nope...not into harry potter (except when the parts go well with my preferred Castle/viking/medieval theme stuff...lol). Good to hear the camper isn't an exclusive...more chance of getting it on sale somewhere (I'm trying to build up a collection of city kits with female minifigs for my daughters once they get old enough to play nicely with it) Endor now up to $65...<gloom> Am interested in any castle related stuff that people want to get rid of, or as mentioned, female minifigs (any theme)
  15. And after 2 bids, the Endor set is already at $50...... And the same guy has also put out #7749 echo base at $1NR (bid now at $1-50) That 20% off city at the big red shed is good - does anyone know if you can get the campervan there or that limited to Kmart only?? Cheers Nikkiwi edit to add: BTW the Toys'R'Fun store at Westfield Albany just recieved a big LEGO shipment in today - they were unloading the pallet instore while I was passing through
  16. For anyone who hasn't seen there are 3 big SW sets (#8038 Battle for Endor, 7666 Hoth Rebel Base & 7754 Mon Calamari Star Cruiser) MISB just gone up on TradeMe for $1NR Cheers Nikkiwi
  17. Use it in another MOC??? Or set your scene at the airport (catching the big bad as he's trying to flee from the BatWrath ) changing the subject....does anyone have a spare dark red 47457 block lying around that they would be willing to donate/sell. According to Peeron, 2 come in the clone trooper battle pack, so if any of you SW afficionados has spares, please get in touch (I need it to complete a dragon from a kit I got off trademe) thanks in advance Nikkiwi
  18. How about the new limo set (I think its only available from Farmers ATM) for your big bad to travel in. I guess it depends on how much you have to spend on kits
  19. November.....oh well, at least it gives me plenty of time to save up for it all....lol And I couldn't help but notice someones listed a big Star Destroyer on TM today, if anyone out there is interested
  20. Does anyone have any idea when the new Castle range is going to come to NZ (or even if it is??) Cheers Nikkiwi
  21. Didn't TLG attempt this with the Viking range (which is another period that overlaps well with the castle, IMHO). And my understanding was that the Viking line bombed. So I can see why TLG might want to stick with the "tried and true" castle stuff. And the new PoP line gives the chance for a Crusade setting for those who want to get away from the European castle style. Just my 2c
  22. Just came back from the Glenfield Mall - In addition to the 20% city sale they're running at the Warehouse, they also have some of the STAR WARS packs reduced by about the same amount as well. I don't normally pay much attention to the SW stuff (which, I understand, is close to heresy in here...lol), but the ones I did see were some battle packs ($4 off) and the signs for a fighter (which one I can't recall, and they didn't have any on the shelves anyway) which was $10 off. Nothing new and exciting at Farmers that hasn't already been mentioned - although they had some of the Atlantis stuff on sale. And the toyshop that was on the lowest level of Glenfield mall has disappeared. Haven't seen the latest fliers for anywhere recently - I think the local delivery person has disappeared for the holidays.... Cheers Nikkiwi
  23. Hi All, I'm up on the North Shore, closer to Albany and Glenfield Shopping centres. Oh and if anyone else is in the region, Browns Bay Toyworld has a LEGO sale on ATM with the Pirate theme soldiers fort 6242 on sale for 50% off ($49-95 from $99-95). cheers Nikkiwi Edit: Ooops - didn't realise that this was old news, but if anyone is still interested, they have about 6-7 sets in store that I saw.
  24. Hi there all, Just a new arrival here wanting to say hi to everyone else from NZ Cheers Nikkiwi
  25. Hi there all, One of my great frustrations with the Viking range is that LEGO produced these fantastic Mythological beasts, but you could only get them as part of much bigger sets (that I simply could not afford at the time). I would love to see stand alone Dragon kits, or better still dragon vs knight (St. George anyone??) kits. Also, with a new Robin Hood movie due out soon, is it time to revisit Forestmen???? Just my 2c Nikkiwi
