  1. Thank You. Thank You. The red spot is a lens flare brought on by shining the light, un-diffused, directly at the front of the model so that top corner really shone. The flare was actually unintentional, but added a certain something to the model against the dark background. The drawback being here is that the black chin cannons seem to blend into the mechanism underneath. There's no definition, just a mass of black plastic.
  2. The Gungans for me. Apart from the theatrical release, I haven't followed the clone wars series at all. And I can't get used to the cartoon Lego faces. So almost anything TCW is out for me. But when a lick of paint is added to an older figure it really makes a difference and I would like to see more of that happening. The Ewoks were the most amazing minifigure last year, and I think the new Gungan design will impress me next year.
  3. It wasn't that long ago when Stormtroopers seem to be in almost every OT set and I remember some were feeling a bit peeved about it (although not as bad as Jar Jar or Qui Gon in PT sets). Now Lego release OT sets without Stormtroopers and some people are beginning to miss them. I guess it would have been good to have a Stormy in the Endor Bunker set, but that wasn't the only minifigure missing from that set. If Stormtroopers get released again, I would like to see the leg printing return. I missed out on those guys when they came around the last time.
  4. Tell me about it. I've had to go back and forth several times just to make sure I'm reading things correctly. The Lobot in a MF posts threw me for a while
  5. It hasn't been confirmed. But due to the South African price of $250, it could be construed that the MF is UCS. But it turns out that South African prices are just really high when compared to the US dollar or UK pound. I'm sure it'll be a minifig Falcon remake. At least, I hope it is.
  6. I think we have our lines crossed. I'm not talking about the ships you mentioned from TCW. I'm thinking along the lines of the Nebulon B Escort Frigate from the OT:wub:. And at the speculative price point, I don't see that making a good minifig scale set. Nor do I see it's med bay as a good play set, as I keep saying. Three minifigures in a small room? No thanks. It's an odd ship. As a large Midi scale set I can see it working. Plenty of external detail and greebling opportunity. The ship you linked to has already been done as the Republic Cruiser from Episode 1, and yes, it worked very well. If that is the ship Lego are thinking of making, it will be a rehash of the Cruiser, albeit with a different colour scheme. Of course I'm thinking about the pound. I'm British. And as rule, Lego in America, no matter how bad it might be for Americans, seems a lot cheaper to us. If we could buy through Lego from the US website, we would and save ourselves a fortune!
  7. But Lego will not be converting US dollars to Euros or UK Sterling. They'll be converting Euros to any other currency and then adjusting accordingly. So prices will not match up when you do your own converting. According to brickset, if correct, Echo Base had the same denomination on both sides of the pond - 24.99. And I have found that that figures haven't varied too wildly between the UK and US on a lot of sets, even though the actual value of the kit is often better in the States when looked at through UK tinted glasses. The Euro was only ever invented to muddy the waters, and is a terrible idea. As a result of it's poor performance, everything in the UK is expensive when converted to Sterling. Kits might seem expensive to Americans, but if you live in the UK, you'd kill to get Lego at such low prices. Echo base at $24.99 sounds like £15.99 to a Brit. But we still got it at £24.99 because of the way Lego works out their prices and how the Euro works against the Pound. If this is the case, one or both prices for the Frigate is wrong. If the Frigate makes it to £100 in the UK, you can bet it will have a very similar figure in the States. And for the piece count and exchange rate, which never seems strictly adhered to by Lego, The US will get the better deal. If it turns out to be $140 in the States, it won't be £100 in the UK. It'll probably be more. The Venator might seem like a good deal, but it does have a lot of small parts (Technic pins) which come in under the 10 pence a piece band if bought separately. And if the Frigate turns out like the Venator, I still can't see it being minifig based. Consider that the medical bay was in the pylon connecting the front and rear of the ship. In a set that will contain circa 1000 pieces (going by price speculation), that pylon/medical bay would have to take up most of the parts. Which would mean playset, which like you said, would be a stupid thing to do. I still say it'll be the largest midi kit seen so far, but anything goes at this stage, and I've been wrong before:grin:
  8. Not necessarily. Nothing has been finalised as far as prices go. 170$ is steep, although Lego prices have been stupidly high this season. What dollar are you talking about? Conversion to UK £ has the Frigate at £100. If that is correct, the Frigate will either be a smallish play set based on minifigs - a bit like the Home One set. And since the only room shown on the frigate was the medical bay... the play set idea seems a bit weak. The other option would be a full model in midi scale. At 10 pence a piece (like the good old days) you'd have a 1000 piece model, give or take. But at current prices which are more like 13 pence a piece, it could only have approx 769 pieces. What kind of Frigate design would have less than a 1000 pieces? It would be poor as minifig scale imo.
  9. Some movie based stuff. Excellent. It's nice to see that we might be getting a new Falcon. I haven't bought one since 2000. I hope a new one puts right everything that was deemed wrong with all the others. Wishful thinking? Ewok Attack sounds good. Hopefully there will be some different coloured Ewoks - black, white, dk grey, tan, dark tan, all with their own coloured hoods so they are identifiable or at least different from the last three some how. Do you think it'll have a catapult or a speeder bike? Republic Frigate? Really? My money is on midi scale for that one. Could be interesting. Could be big. And some more Episode 1 items. I'm interested to see how far the design of the pod racers has come. I don't think they've been around for about 10 years. Wouldn't mind a redesigned Sebulba. It'd be nice to have a new Watto too. I'd like some more Episode 2 stuff though, although it's nice to have a new Geonosian fighter. Hopefully the minifigures get some paint added to pick out those details.
  10. I wouldn't mind more Hoth or models based on it. How about a UCS Probe Droid? As for system scale sets: Maybe a detailed control room attached to a hanger. But thinking about it, it does sound similar to the Home One play set. I guess there isn't much left from Hoth that can be done on a small scale. Like someone said earlier, a full battle scene is best left to the moccers like Brickplumber. But still, something more than just sliding doors would be nice. Did anyone miss out on K-3PO? That droid is the main reason I bought the rebel base. Would anyone want a re-issue of that figure? As a sort of battle pack, Lego could release the personnel hanger transport. 4-6 figures and a small vehicle that is authentic to the movie, unlike the rebel scout speeder, as nice as that set was. I sort of like the idea of a Super Star Destroyer, but I don't think I'd want it as a system scale set/play set. A mini would still be much bigger than the mini Star Destroyer if kept to scale, and a Midi would be massive, if kept to scale. A midi SSD would still be as big as the UCS SD. Of course, if the scale was shrunk, even a UCS SSD would be feasible. I suppose LEGO could take areas of the ship or any Star Destroyer and turn them into play sets. A detailed Vader's chamber or crew pit and bridge. Not very playful though. I think the midi scale would suit the frigate and rebel transport. But the rebel transport could also be a play set, or an excuse for Lego to fill a kit full of figures. Home One would also look good in midi scale, if not as a UCS model. It would look good alongside the Star Destroyer. The Nebulon Frigate could also be UCS with mini scale Falcon attached to it. As for Tatooine, I think that's another area that has been done to death by Lego. Obi Wan's home would have little playability, but hey, how many times did Hagrid's hut get released in the Harry Potter line? The Lars Homestead might be a better option and would go well with the Sandcrawler. A few more Jawas wouldn't be sniffed at either. Banthas and Tuskens could be doable. Maybe we'll see Tuskens again if the rumoured Pod Racer sets get released. But the Cantina set should definitely be looked into by Lego. It could be modular and sold as separate small kits like the Jabba's palace trio. They could release the main bar with Luke, Ben, Ponda, Evazan and the barman, maybe a couple of extra alien figs. And all the booths around the bar can be extra kits bought separately. A music booth with the Modal Nodes, one with Han and Greedo, and others with different aliens and humans doing their thing or Stormtroopers checking out the bar. That bar is a missed opportunity for Lego. Maybe they don't want to condone drinking. I'm not sure what people are wanting from Cloud City. Another play set, but better? Maybe another modular design with each room sold separately? As a USC, I'm picturing a doughnut with excessive greebles on top. I wouldn't mind a redesigned cloud car with actual pilots. And Lobot needs a reissue as a 'fleshy' An Ewok village could be a hit, and certainly different. It's not like Lego have released much in the way of forest scenes and trees with the Star Wars line up. Compared to Hoth and Tatooine, Endor has been largely ignored. I'd like to see a landing platform or a redesigned system scale shuttle. It's a shame the last walker wasn't Endor based, but then it was only in the film for a moment. I agree about the Tie fighter. We need a grey one. Ditto for the Bomber or Tie Shuttle with a doomed Captain Needa.
  11. Lego made a one off, mini scale Death Star Trench complete with mini X-Wing and mini Tie Fighters, back in 2003. It was built especially to be auctioned on Ebay with the proceeds going to charity. It sold for quite a few dollars. I'm sure someone on here has a picture of it.
  12. I got mine (complete with box and manual) and I ain't selling! I bought it as soon as it became available on UK Shop@Home because it had the first Lando figure and that was the figure I really wanted. I know the printed Boba takes precedence with collectors, but Lando holds just as much value with me. This was the first time Lego ventured into fleshies with their Star Wars sets, even though all the other cloud city figures were yellow. What a fuss on the forums, even though black people were being depicted in Lego style, before Cloud City's release, with the NBA series of sets. I nearly bought one of those so I could make my own Lando, but I remember thinking at the time, if Lego were now releasing minifigures in anything but yellow (the first I'd seen in 25 years), I hoped that an authentic Lando would be released, and it was. Finally a Lego Lando. Since then he has appeared a couple more times, but only ever in pricier sets. As such I think that any Lando figure will be a bit rare when compared to the abundance of other regular figures, and any after market sales of kits with Lando will be expensive. And of course that goes double for a complete Cloud City with both Lando and the printed Boba Fett. How long the prices will remain high is a different matter. The bottom has to fall out of the market one day. Star Wars Lego will not always be as popular or in demand as it is now. Will it? Maybe those who are kicking themselves now will get lucky in the future if the prices plummet due to a potential dwindling value of Star Wars Lego.
  13. Why do these seem out of place? In relation to what? I second that. With all the costume changes Padmé/Amidala/decoy went through in E1, that minifigure would deserve a battle pack all of it's own. It's about time she were a more recognised by Lego.
  14. Thanks KimT. I'm not as prolific or as creative as some of the other members, but I'll try to add any photos here and to the Flickr group whenever I have anything that's of acceptable quality. Thanks for the tag, and thanks for the invite to the Flickr group.
  15. And they got it from the same place as us. Check the first post!
  16. I did wonder if that was ever the case. I guess it's not like barcodes (1 code per product), but it must add to any confusion.
  17. Nice to have a 2011 thread to post on. 7929, 7930, and 7931 appear on Brickset as promotional sets through McDonalds. Click 7929 promotional
  18. What started out as a neck and neck race between Cloud city Boba and the 2010 one now seems to be a one horse race, with the 2010 Boba taking a good lead so far. I wonder what the demographics are for the choices made - age group, newbie to collecting or old timer, fan of the films or the cartoons, etc... Also, as I asked in the first post of the thread, I'd really like to know people's thoughts on how valuable these figures will remain. At the moment on Bricklink, CC Boba can't be had for less than £50, whereas the 2010 Boba is comparatively cheap. But he is a new figure, and is available, albeit with ship, from Lego, and will be for the next year or two. Any speculation as to which figure will be the most collectable in the future? 2010 Boba seems to be the favourite on the forum, so far, but can he maintain this popularity till the end? What impact will the new Boba have on the long term collectability of the 2003 version, and what impact on collectors themselves?
  19. Yeah, I've used them, and I put the link to the site in the original thread, here: Stands For Star Wars Sets They're very good, and if you have a little cash laying around, they're worth the purchase.
  20. This thread went up at the end of August last year along with a couple of really blurry pics of this year battle packs. Is it nearly time to put a 2011 rumours thread up?
  21. I'm worried that the CW will ruin our chances for all sets! I'm not a CW fan. Stupid cartoon faces, and all that, blah, blah, blah.
  22. I voted for TLG figure. It's not that I don't think the Arealight fig isn't good, and some of the custom minifigs floating around the net are superb, it's that if it doesn't say LEGO on the box, it's not LEGO in the box. It may aswell be Mega Blocks. Is that too harsh?
  23. You never know. If the licence continues beyond 2011, Lego might remake a Jango Fett slave 1. The AOTC line up was very short lived and only nine system/minifig scale sets were ever released between 2002/2003. I don't know why that is.
