  1. I made the model with SR3D (a LDD-Like ldraw compatible software, way easier to use than MLCad), then I used MLCad to optimize the steps, include sub-models and manage rotations, and finally used LPub4 to create the instructions. If you want the MLCad file, I'll gladly upload it
  2. Hi folks, you probably have seen the Youtube video or DreamTeam's ldd file, but if you want to build it away from your computer, both are not very useful. That's why I decided to make Lego-Styled, printable instructions for this fantastic build made from both London Escape & Whitecap Bay. After about 30hrs of work (took me a veeeeery long time to rethink the entire build process, as LDD's build order is really sh... chaotic ), here it is, a 57MB (ouch) pdf file : https://www.mediafire.com/?82bgvj879n7aiia Some screenshots : The only change I had to make is for the corner walls : since the new one is not in the ldraw library, I used the old style ones + 2 1x1 Bricks. I hope you'll like it, and feel free to distribute it If you spot an error, please report it so I can correct it.
  3. I emailed Lego France friday, and I just received their answer : "Je suis désolé de lire que vous n'êtes pas satisfait avec nos derniers set PIRATES DES CARAIBES. Malheureusement ces éléments ne sont pas fautifs et c'est la façon dont nous les produisons." I'm sorry to read that you aren't satisfied with our latest Potc sets. Sadly these parts aren't faulty, this is the way we produce them. I don't know if I should email back them that thread...
  4. 6296 is not that rare, and the price will highly depend of the missing parts. If it's uncommon parts (like the blue cannon base, the sail, the armada minifig...), you won't be selling it over 15/20$. The part quality is also important. For a complete set with instructions, I wouldn't go over 30$. Don't be fooled by the MISB prices, they are always very high and are not represantative of the used price. On top of that, it's far for being the most sought-after set, since it's one of the ugliest Pirate Set ever
  5. Wow, that's really a nice read! One thing that you could add for 6237 Pirate Plunder is that strangely this set doesn't come with any instructions, you have to guess (well, that's not too complicated ). Why only it and not simple others impulse sets? The other pirates sets without instructions are only the minifigures one.
  6. Now that I've put my hand on a 1795, I can say it : I have them all! Now it's time to build'em!
  7. Got my prize yesterday, yay! A BIG thanks to everybody who created this contest, probably the best internet one I've ever seen!
  8. They should have used a red apple, but maybe it would have been too realistic for a toy.
  9. Yesterday, I've found some interesting deals in a King Jouet (a french store). On top of the shelves, there were several "old" Lego boxes, including one 7094 Castle, with no sticker price. I've asked the price : 59€! Looking on Ebay, it actually sells for 200+€! There were also a lot of Bionicle big sets (8759 & 8943) for 30/40€, Aqua Raiders 7775 for 40€, and a 7018 "Viking Ship vs Midgard Serpent" for 45€, and several Lego Pirates Advent Calendar for 21€ A good store for every AFOL!
  10. Just got my 6236 King Kahuka :). It's a pretty solid impulse set. Now I'm only missing 1795 Imperial Cannon and my Pirates Collection will be over :). In 3 years I've managed to get all Pirates sets with their instructions (which was sometimes hard with Value Pack sets like 1889), I've also got some boxes but I wasn't chasing after them (that would take too much space, ans my wife is already complaining about it ). At this time, all sets are dismantled (I've thoroughly checked that they were really complete with originals parts), I'm waiting for the last one (1795) to build them all in the order they appeared on the market. Then I'll take a lot of pictures to post them here :). I will also build the four sets that come from the two Idea Books (they are quite nice, although the Islanders boat looks a bit weird). I hope I will be able to get that 1795 very soon (it's a shame it only came on the american market... By the way, if someone have it MISB, I have a MISB Pirate Advent Calendar I can send ;)).
  11. Yay! PRIZE#04 - Great Ape That was a tough one!
  12. maybe it's true. Do you think I Should contact Bricklink to tell them that there are two kind of rigging?
  13. Hi everyone! Last sunday I've been able to get a MIB 6285 Black Sea's Barracuda, and I noticed two stranges facts that I've never heard of before. First, instructions came with a lose page (step 6). At first I thought my instructions were damaged, but looking closer it appears that original instructions have an error. Look for yourself (the original instructions are on top) : But there is another strange fact : when I had to put on the rigging, I saw there were really bent, it looked weird. I've checked masts to see if they were put correctly, and instructions to see if I didn't forget something : nothing wrong. I then took one of my second BSB's rigging : it fit perfectly. Odd. It finally appears that my 4 rigging are about 1 stud longer than "normal" ones. Here are the rigging (the 2 on the bottom are from my previous BSB, the 2 on the top come from my "new" one) Strange, isn't it? Looking closer, I've seen another detail : Can you see it? The left one (ie the smaller one) is marked with a "02", where the right one (the one that comes from my "new" BSB) is marked "01". I've checked all of my other sets (Forbidden Island, Rock Island Refugee, Caribbean Clipper...), they all have the normal "02" one. Even on Bricklink, there is only one model referenced (Brown Boat Mast Rigging Long 27 x 5). Now, what can we think about that? Maybe my "new" BSB is one of the very first batch (it's a french model) that appeared on the market. In fact, all of the other BSB I've seen do not have these errors, instructions are corrected and the rigging doesn't look strange (it's just one stud longer, but that make them *really* bent). Maybe I've gotten a rare treasure Have you seen these errors before? What number of rigging do you have? The normal 02 ones, or the rare 01 ones ? PS : Sorry if my english hurts you ;)
  14. It's not an error, this raft comes from the 6273 set (Rock Island Refuge)
  15. It really is a great set, and if you don't mind mixing blue & red coats, it's just perfect alongside Eldorado Fortress! I got very lucky and find it complete (but without box et instructions though) with Sabre Island and a few more Blue Coats for 25€ (~30$) on a popular adds site in France (where usually the prices are set according to Ebay ). The set was VERY dusty, but after a good cleaning (with an electric toothbrush) it looked like new! Actually I think it had never been played with, and the dust must have protected bricks and minifigs from scratches. In one of the chest I've even found the 2 other white plumes as extra parts :). It's probably my favorite among all other pirate sets. IMHO, the only con is here : If you look at it, the bottom ladder leads to a closed space, making it "impossible" to reach the top (okay, they can slip through the window ), but it's really the only design flaw I can find.
